If someone had asked him if he thought Morwenna was beautiful, he would have said no. She was a nice girl. Sweet. Even when Bolt and Morwenna got married, he thought she was too good for him. Now, he saw the pain in her eyes, because this woman was not stupid. She looked toward Bolt and saw what he was doing.

She pulled her gaze away and smiled at him. “Hi, Venom,” she said. “I was hoping to get here sooner, but I was just putting the finishing touches.” She turned to Storm and Maverick. “I hope that is okay. I had it marked on my calendar that he was returning today.” She reached into the back of the car, and he caught sight of her ass, and the urge to run his hands over her body was strong, but he was not going to do that. Morwenna belonged to Bolt, even if she was sending him divorce papers.

Storm rushed forward and pulled her in for a hug. “You’re a lifesaver. I had to rush to the grocery store, and they barely had anything in that would work.”

Venom watched as Morwenna, along with Willow, started to hand out packages of home-cooked food. He caught sight of ribs, coleslaw, chicken, beef, potato salad, macaroni salad. Everything he loved was right here, including three cakes and some brownies.

Once the car was empty, Bolt rushed forward. “Wen,” he said.

She held up her hand. “I sent you the divorce papers. We’re not talking about this. I want a divorce.”

“Damn it, Wen.”

Gus stepped toward his daughter’s side, and Venom couldn’t look away, as he watched Morwenna glare at Bolt.

“Do we have a problem here?” Gus asked.

Bolt struggled. He clearly wanted to say something, but instead, he just shook his head and took a step back.

“Sign the divorce papers,” Morwenna said. “It is time we put an end to this.”

Bolt shook his head. “This is not over, Wen. You’re still my girl.” He went to reach for her, but Morwenna pulled away from him.

Venom expected her to get back into the car, but instead, she walked toward him. “Welcome home, Venom,” she said. He was shocked as she pressed a kiss to his cheek, and then pulled away.

Venom never had a problem with words. He simply didn’t like to talk, but Morwenna had stolen his breath away. She looked amazing.

Bolt had hurt her. He saw that. But she clearly wanted a clean break, and he felt for her. What the fuck had happened in five years? It was like stepping into an alternate reality.

Dwellers Point Fair was always popular, and this year was no exception. Morwenna didn’t want to attend. She wanted to stay home and work on recipes.

It was a little harder right now, because the club had always been happy to try out her food. The only problem was, going to the club meant coming face to face with Casey, or Bolt, as she kept thinking of him. He was not her Casey. He was just Bolt—a man she was trying to divorce, but he kept making life difficult. He wanted to try again, to put this mess behind them. That was what he called it. A mess. Even after he gave her a sexually transmitted disease, he wanted to try again. Even though Star was still there at the clubhouse, with her three kids.

She stopped working at the garage, because she wanted to cut as many ties as possible. She even considered moving out of town, but she happened to love Dwellers Point, and she was going to be able to get over this mess. People from the same town got divorced and still lived there. There might be a chance she could be friends with him again.

The past year had been rough. Bolt was not taking no for an answer and kept trying to win her back. She had a constant supply of chocolates, which she donated to the elder people’s home. They loved the regular supply of chocolate. She took the flowers to the graveyard and placed on every person’s grave, wishing them a prayer as she did so. She sent back the jewelry.

He tried to be there for her, helping, but she just didn’t want him. She knew he tried, but it hurt too damn badly. It also didn’t help that her eyes were opened. Like the other night when Venom came home. She saw that Bolt was trying to hide the fact he’d been with another woman, but he hadn’t wiped the lipstick off his neck, nor the redness on his lips.

Morwenna couldn’t help but wonder why she hadn’t read the other signs sooner. Everything she had known was a total lie.

Folding her arms under her breasts, she walked around the fair. Life was a little hazy at the moment. She was making it through day by day, but it was hard. All her life, she’d been with Bolt. They had been inseparable. Hanging out together, studying. Club life had become part of her life.
