He looked into her eyes, and they were such a beautiful brown. He knew he’d be so damn happy to keep looking into her eyes for the rest of his life.
“Promise me you won’t,” she said.
“I won’t.”
She smiled and even her damn smile was beautiful.
“You don’t even know what you’re promising me.”
“You don’t want me to let you down. I’m guessing you feel like enough people have let you down already,” he said.
She sighed. “I guess you do know.”
“There’s a lot I do know.”
“If that’s the case, are you going to tell me what it is you like in a woman?” she asked.
“I don’t know. I’ve never found the right woman.”
“Then I think we should just start, and hopefully, we’ll figure something out,” she said, looking to the left and the right.
He wasn’t interested in anyone else.
“What the ever-loving fuck!”
He looked over Morwenna’s shoulder to see Bolt, along with several boys from the clubhouse, had stepped into the bar. Of course, his abrupt interruption had also meant the band had quieted down as well.
Morwenna didn’t move from his feet.
Venom kept a hand banded around her.
“Get the fuck off my wife!” Bolt said.
“Dude, come on, leave it alone,” Diesel said. “You wanted to get a drink. Let’s get a drink.”
“What the hell is your problem?” Morwenna said, stepping off his feet and spinning around to face Bolt.
Venom wanted to reach out and touch her, to offer her a guiding hand, but instead, he stayed perfectly still and looked directly at Bolt. He didn’t give a shit that this was Maverick’s son. He wore a patch, and that made him a club brother, and he’d already gone for him once.
“You’re mine,” Bolt said.
“You have a funny way of showing it, but seeing as you had to ask, Venom here was kind enough to dance with me. Not that you would have helped me, huh?” she asked. “Not at all, because you don’t dance, and because you don’t, that meant I had to follow your command.” She shook her head, and he watched as she shoved him hard. “Asshole.”
She turned back to Venom and he had no choice but to nudge her out of the way, otherwise, there was a chance she would get caught in the crossfire.
Bolt took a swing at him, and he had no choice but to grab his arm, and in doing so, shoved him forward and pressed him against the bar. He leaned over him, and he was the one who had complete control over Bolt. Not the other way around.
“I suggest you think about your next step, because all it would take from me is one move, and that arm of yours is broken. I would be quite happy to do it as well. You’re upsetting Morwenna. You do not want to play this game with me, boy, you will lose.”
He gave him a final warning shove, just slightly, and then he let go, and Bolt’s face was red.
“Come on,” Morwenna said. “You didn’t want to come out anyway, let’s go.”
Chapter Eight
Morwenna looked around the bar for the second time that week. She unsuccessfully went out on Friday with Venom, trying to find him a woman. That ended in a total bust. They instead went home, watched a movie, ate the ice cream she’d made the day before, and went to bed.
Saturday, Venom warned her he was going to be away, so she went and spent some time at her parents’. This sucked big time, as she still had the bruise from her previous encounter with Bolt. Of course, her father wasn’t happy, and he wanted to do something about it.
With her mother’s help, she was able to stop him from doing anything crazy. It was an accident, but she didn’t want her father fighting with Bolt. It was bad enough that every single time she was alone with him, it seemed to end in an argument. They never argued. Even when they were kids, they never had any conflict, but this was different. This was their marriage that had fallen apart.
On Sunday, Storm called her and asked if she wanted to have a girls’ night. Several of the women were getting together, and it had been over a year since she last had a girls’ night. She needed it, because she loved her parents, but her father’s disapproval with Bolt was starting to weigh on her last nerve.
She decided she wasn’t going to stay at her parents’ either. Her intention was to go back to the ranch, and just get over the thought of being alone. It was going to happen, whether she liked it or not.
This is why, on a Sunday, she was sitting at the bar, nursing a glass of orange juice, glancing toward the stage at the naked men currently prancing up and down, dancing for the screaming women. Storm hadn’t invited her to be one of the girls. They were not sitting around talking and drinking. Everyone was interested in the naked men on stage. It was a total disaster.
