“I think that’s a wonderful hoard.” Daddy’s smile was big-big-big. “And I’m very glad you found fun books for your hoard.”

Me too.

History and poetry books were kind of sad.

My dinosaur book was almost fun but it was mostly science and not many pictures.

“I got lots now.” Oh. Oh. “And it works. Me and Lorne were right and smart.”

More big smiles from Daddy.

“I’m so glad. I was worried about that but I didn’t want to ask you about it until we had privacy.” He shrugged looking silly. “Then we were playing and I forgot.”

“We had fun with the blocks.” We got distracted. “Toys take up all the thinking space.”

I made Daddy laugh. “I think that’s a wonderful description.”

Daddy thought I was smart.

“Thank you, Daddy.” Nice Daddy got cheek kisses. That was what the books said. “I’ll show you my other books later.”

Daddy might like boring books.

“That’s a great idea.” Daddy looked naughty and his arms caught me. “Gotcha. I need big cuddles while dinner cooks.”

Daddy needed lots of attention.

Hmm.

“Do you want lap cuddles or couch cuddles?” No bed cuddles or we’d fall asleep or get distracted. Naps were fun. My books said so. “Thank you for telling me you need attention.”

Yes, I had to make sure he knew he was doing a good job.

“I need…” What did I need? He had to take care of me too. “I think I need couch cuddles.”

“Thank you for telling me.” Daddy stood up and kissed my nose, keeping me trapped still. “What makes lap cuddles and couch cuddles different?”

Oh.

Well, Daddy never had a little before.

That meant I was big special and not just mate special but I was going to have to be the teacher. That was okay, though, because I’d read books with new Daddies and I could do it. “I’ll show you, Daddy.”

He knew the answer…he just didn’t know it.

Daddy had good instincts like a dragon but he just didn’t know how to listen to them yet.

“Thank you, baby.” Daddy let me go but just enough to take my hand because he still needed touching. “Learning things with you is going to make being your Daddy even more special.”

Even better than being mate special.

I didn’t know how to tell that to Daddy, though, so I gave him a big cheek kiss that made him smile as he gave me a big one-arm hug. “Thank you, baby.”

I was Daddy’s baby like the boys in the books.

I’d take good care of him…once I could make the words work again.

They got stuck but that was okay because Daddy knew to sit down on the couch. He was patient and even let me do big swallows to move the boulder in my throat.

Throat rocks were big sometimes.

I was going to teach Daddy good.

I could do it.

Lap cuddle first, so I sat down on his lap making him chuckle. “Hmm, let me think…you’re going to show me lap cuddles to start with?”

He was so silly.

“Yes.” Because I was his good helper. “And you did a good job. You wrapped your arms around me and you snuggled me just like you’re supposed to.”

That was a very good start.

What next?

Oh, explanations.

Yes, humans liked those…everyone from Earth liked those.

“For lap cuddles, arms go around me to keep me from falling but I won’t wiggle, because I’m smart.” I wasn’t going to get bonked by doing something silly. “Lap cuddles are for talking and cheek kisses and important stuff.”

Mates had to do that sometimes.

Daddy nodded, giving me his thinking face and showing me he was learning lots. “I hadn’t thought about it like that but you’re right. That’s what I’ve seen other Daddies and littles doing.”

Good.

That would make remembering easier.

“We can do lap cuddles on the couch or the chairs, but I think they’re mostly chair cuddles.” I shrugged when he looked down at my lap and chuckled. “We’re practicing.”

“So couches are for couch cuddles, huh?” Daddy’s head went side to side as he studied us. “You know, your legs don’t fit right on the couch like this. They’re kind of half on the couch and half off. You’re very smart.”

And Daddy was smart to know how smart I was.

“Thank you.” Cheek kiss for Daddy so he’d remember he liked it when I was smart. “Now we’ll practice couch cuddles.”

I scooted my bottom to the couch and curled up against his chest. Daddy was so smart his arms moved to the right place without me having to tell him. I knew he could do it. “Good job, Daddy.”

He started to make some kind of laughing sound but it turned into a moan or sigh or something like that when I rubbed my face against his chest. “I can go higher and hide against your neck for some stuff. That’s a couch position too. But I like this. I read about it and I knew I’d like it with you.”
