“Oh, I remember,” he said, which made me blush. Although, I didn’t remember telling him my name—not a huge shocker, given how tipsy I got.
“In that case, I appreciate you carrying me home last night.”
“It was my pleasure.”
“Mkay, so…would you like to stay for waffles?”
“Waffles?”
I had to chuckle. “For breakfast. Unless you had something else planned.”
“For instance?” he inquired, as though it were a serious question.
I laughed, much louder this time. “You’re so weird, Daddy. Come on. I’ll make you some waffles. Big guy like you must eat a few. How many you want?”
“I’m not really sure,” he replied as I led him out of my room.
He followed right behind me, through the living area, to the kitchen island. I knelt and fetched the waffle maker from the cabinet beside the oven and placed it on the counter. “I feel like you might need at least four,” I said, jumping when I realized he was standing less than an inch from me. “Jesus Christ! You scared the crap out of me. Twice in one morning.”
He tilted his head, inspecting my face, before taking a step back. “Sorry. What would you like me to do while you make waffles?”
He talks so strangely…
“You can sit at the kitchen island,” I said, motioning toward it. “Like a normal person.”
He hurried over as I set up the waffle maker, and when I turned around, found him sitting on the island.
“Um…”
“Yes?” he asked.
“There are stools on the other side.”
“Oh…”
But he didn’t budge.
“That’s where you would sit,” I said as though explaining how the world worked to a goddamn alien.
Daddy smiled. “Of course, Twink.” He scooted off the island and made his way around before assessing one of the stools.
“So…did you have a fall before meeting me and hit your head?” I asked, trying to work out why he was acting this way. “Or are you still a little drunk?”
“I did fall last night, actually,” he said, taking a seat.
There was some relief in hearing that. Maybe that explained it.
“Yesterday was hectic for me,” he said. “I was fucked.”
As I fetched the waffle mix from the pantry, I said, “Want to talk about it?”
“I shouldn’t.”
Yup. Still weird.
I was at a loss how to make conversation with a man who seemed to throw me with every answer, so I just got the waffles started before making another attempt.
“So what part of town do you live in?”
“I’m staying not far from the bar where we met.”
“Oh, really? You live near Filth? Are you in Ryo or the Veco complex?”
His brow creased. “I…”
He didn’t seem eager to share, so I said, “Sorry. None of my business. I’m still learning about boundaries with my therapist. Like I probably shouldn’t have even said that because I don’t want to trauma-dump on you. But my friend lives in Ryo, which is why I was asking.”
“Powerbottom?”
I rolled my head back and laughed. “I figured that horndog might have fucked you already. Why didn’t he say anything to me last night?”
“I have not mated with him, if that’s what you’re suggesting.”
Mated? The hell?
But then, when you were that hot, you could be a little strange.
“Oh…so he’s just earned a reputation, then. But yeah, he likes to have a good time. Not that I’m not a powerbottom, but I haven’t been with anyone in a while. Not feeling too confident since my breakup with a douchebag extraordinaire. Oh, I shouldn’t say that. You might know him.”
He shook his head. “No, I’m new to town.”
“That’s probably why you needed me to point the way back here last night. Yeah, found out he was a cheating cheater with this other guy who’s so much hotter than me, but also the same type as me. My upgrade—a twunk.” As the waffle maker light came on, I flipped it and added, “TMI. Sorry. I just…I saw him last night, so it worked all this up, and I’ve been…”
“You’re sad.”
I turned to him, saw the sympathy in his expression. I nodded, hanging my head.
I chastised myself as I returned to making waffles. I didn’t need to be spilling my guts to this guy. He was beautiful and way too attractive to be here with me, and if I wasn’t careful, I was gonna wind up scaring him off.
But as I tried to keep my mouth shut, we continued in silence until I finished with the waffles. After I plated them and set them before him, I settled on the stool adjacent to his.
“I’m sorry Cheating Cheater Douchebag Extraordinaire hurt you,” he said, and it was nice hearing someone else call him that for a change.
“Yeah, well, I’m sure you’ve had your share of bad relationships.”
“Yes, I broke up recently, and she was not happy about it.”
“She? Are you bi?”
“What is that exactly?”
I was sure he’d misheard me. “Bisexual. Into guys and girls?”
