Now I turn to look at Weston and see something else.
Something grounded.
An actual future with love, against all fucking odds. I used to think I’d be bad for Wes, because he’s a man with a true soft heart behind the walls he always used to put up.
But when he’s the good boy, it makes it even better when he’s bad for me.
I love every particular thing about him.
That he’s more likely to eat a food item if it has the word harvest in the name.
That he cares about doing things thoughtfully, from cutting vegetables, to making the perfect whiskey cocktail for me, to taking my cock in his throat like it’s his duty.
I love that there is someone in the world who truly cares about things, on a level as deep as Weston does.
It’s how he cares about me, too.
Even before he had any reason to, when I was just as stubborn as him.
After the seniors finish their procession and toss all of their graduation caps up into the air, everyone gets up and the crowd applauds and begins to dissipate.
“What are we doing tonight?”
“Partying,” Noah says. “Of course.”
“I’m glad that partying no longer means blacking out drunk for you, Noah,” Weston tells him.
Noah smiles. “I’m beginning to have a love affair with red wine, because I can only have a glass or two before I just get sleepy, and that’s plenty for me.”
Noah finds some of the other guys as we head into the crowd, leaving the football field.
For a brief moment I’m just here walking with Weston, even though I know the other guys will surely find us again soon.
“How are you feeling?” I ask him.
He has a faraway look in his eyes. “I still don’t know what I’m going to do, when I eventually graduate,” he says. “But that used to make me feel completely lost, and I don’t think it does anymore.”
“You are going to be able to do whatever the fuck you want when you graduate.”
He lifts an eyebrow. “Full-time job sucking your cock?”
I squeeze his hip. “Damn right, baby.”
He pulls me into a kiss. “But for real. I feel like I could take on anything, now. I don’t know how I’m going to give back with my inheritance, but I know it’s my number one goal.”
“Of course it is. Because you’re a good person, Wes.”
“You’re a good person, too.”
“Now that is a lie, and you know it.”
He shakes his head. “Nope. You can’t argue it anymore. You have that bad-boy swag, but you’re so fucking good, Sev.”
“You’re lucky I love you, or I’d fight you on that one.”
He hums, reaching to give my ass a quick squeeze. “Take it out on me later.”
“God, yes. I’ll take it out on you forever.”
“Please do?”
As I claim his lips in a kiss, I hear the telltale sound of the other guys walking over to us.
“I thought I told you being in love is banned around me,” Noah says.
I break off from my kiss with Weston, but I keep my arm around his waist as we join the group.
“You’ll take all of that back the moment you fall in love,” I tell him. “Trust me.”
“Don’t think that’s in the cards for me.”
“It will be,” Weston says.
He’s crazy for saying it.
I am, too.
But that’s what happens when love hits you right in the jaw, like being blindsided by a sucker punch.
I want to spend the rest of my life showing Weston how much I can give.
And he’s already blown my whole world wide open. His stubborn loyalty. His unyielding presence. And our reckless, irresistible, fucking perfect love.
