Heads will roll, and Diesel will make sure of it.

After a quick head count, I confirm that all my men have reached the ship’s deck, and I watch with pride as one by one, they start taking out their targets. Some are met with imminent death, while others are lucky enough to escape with nothing more than a bullet wound.

There must be at least forty men from what I can see, but there’s no telling just how many hired soldiers are belowdecks or taking up space in the ship’s cabins and control rooms, but my men have never met a challenge too big that they couldn’t handle.

Moving down the length of the ship, I start taking out Elias’s hired help, finding a big guy patrolling the deck, a gun strapped across his chest. I keep to the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and as he turns and starts pacing back up the opposite direction, completely unaware of the way his comrades are dropping like flies, I spring, snapping his neck with nothing more than a quick twist of my wrists.

He drops like a dead weight, and as more of the men patrolling the deck begin dropping, I don’t bother hiding the body, just simply push ahead, looking for my next target. I see Ace out of the corner of my eye. He’s a fucking machine as he takes on two armed men at a time, shooting one with the other guy’s gun before turning that very gun on the original owner, taking them both out within a matter of four seconds.

Hunter is the same, pushing himself to his limits while doing everything in his power to try and make amends for his role in allowing Harper to slip away. Although I don’t hold him accountable for that, he certainly does.

Once Elias’s men finally figure out what the fuck is happening, the main deck turns into a fucking war zone. Armed men come at my team, gunshots ringing out across the ocean and echoing through the night. I take out another soldier, and from his scrappy fighting style, I’d say he was nothing more than a career criminal with no formal training, and I take him out like the fucking big bad wolf coming for a squealing little piggy.

One after another, bodies spill across the deck, and the knowledge that Harper is here, somewhere, spurs me on. I push myself faster, the idea that any of these soldiers for hire could possibly have access to her at any point making me see red.

I’m relentless. Unforgiving. Fucking lethal.

A clean shot to the head. Another to the chest. Snapped necks and men thrown over the edge into the deep abyss below. Nothing stops me, and just as their numbers thin out, something from across the deck catches my eye.

Elias.

He darts through the darkness, more than happy to throw his men to the wolves, and as he slips inside an entrance that leads down into the lower parts of the cargo ship, I race after him, knowing without a doubt that he will lead me straight to my girl, and when he does, it’s fucking over for him.

HARPER-RAYN

Loud BANGs sound through the cold passenger cabin, and my eyes spring open, fear pounding through my veins as I search the dark room.

I’ve been here maybe two, three hours, and since then, I’ve been nothing more than a puppet for Elias to play with. I’m in a small cabin, and from the sound of the howling wind outside and the strong smell of salt air, I can only assume I’m somewhere out in the middle of the ocean, perhaps on a ship.

The moment he dragged me away from Izzy, my whole world ended. Everything I knew, everything I loved was taken from me. I was knocked out within seconds, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up here with my wrists and ankles bound like a fucking animal.

He hasn’t raped me . . . yet.

I know it’s coming. I see it in his eyes every time he comes in here, and when it inevitably happens, it’s going to be brutal. It’s going to take what’s left of my soul and burn it to ashes. And while I know that at some point, Knight will come for me like a goddamn warrior, I just don’t know what will be left of me to save.

Fuck.

Elias has done everything he can to keep me weak, to make sure I don’t get any ideas and try to take off. But what’s the fucking point? I’m on a ship. He’s literally made it so that there’s nowhere I can run and nowhere to hide.

Over the past few hours, he’s beaten me relentlessly. He whipped me with his belt. He choked me. Smacked me. Punched and threw me around. Cut me with a blade. He’s done everything he could to ensure I don’t have the strength to get up and run. And he’s doing a fucking great job. I barely have the strength to sit up, and with this industrial tape around my wrists and ankles, I don’t stand a chance anyway.
