“I think I would like a dog more,” Eve says, and I give Haidyn a big fuck-you smile. The fucker would totally get my wife a cat and call it payback for their daily walks in the woods.

“Whatever you want, angel,” I tell her.

“Maybe get one of each.” She gets to her feet, and Haidyn winks at me. Bastard.

“Did you get everything you wanted?” Eve asks, looking at me.

For a second I had forgotten about the phone call I got after I chopped her twin sister’s head off. I nod. The police are gone. They won’t be bothering my wife anymore.

“What are you doing with the body?”

“The guys are disposing of it,” I tell her. It’s on the way to the morgue to be cremated.

“The head?” she asks.

“Returning it.” Haidyn is the one who answers, and she frowns, not understanding.

“Ryat and Sin are going to drop it off on LeAnne’s doorstep.” Going to leave a little reminder that you can’t fuck with us. She knew Everett was an identical twin and decided to send her after Eve when we saved Haidyn and dragged Isabella to Carnage. That can’t… No. I won’t let that go unnoticed.

“Well, that’s—”

“Necessary,” I interrupt my wife, and she sighs. This is something I won’t budge on.

My phone rings and I pull it out of my pocket. “Hello?”

“They’re here,” Saint informs me.

I hang up, and my wife frowns, sensing my mood. “What’s wrong?”

“Tyson’s men just arrived.”

“Okay,” she says slowly and then looks from me to Haidyn. “Is that a bad thing?”

“They found Evan.”

Eve gets to her feet. “Where is he?”

“He’s here. They’re going to put him in the basement.” They called me while I was in the cemetery to let me know they were on their way with Evan.

Her green eyes drop to the floor, and I walk over to her. “You don’t need to see him.” I brush hair off her face, and she lifts her chin to meet my stare. “It’s up to you, angel. You can have your revenge if you want, or I can do it for you.”

“No.” She frowns and steps back. “I can do it.”

“Okay. It doesn’t have to be right now.” She still needs time to heal.

Picking up her cell off the bed, she types away on it, and I glance at Haidyn. He arches a brow, and I shrug, not sure what she’s doing. “Ordered,” she states, locking her screen. Her eyes meet mine. “Two days.”

“Two days what?” I ask, confused.

“That’s when my packages will be here.”

“What packages?” Haidyn wonders.

She gives me a chilling smile before looking at her brother. “That’s…a surprise.”

With that, she walks past me and out of their room. I smile, following after her, knowing my girl is going to fuck Evan up, and I can’t wait to see how she does it.

Entering my room, I close the door and watch her sit on the end of the bed. Her head is down, and she stares at the floor.

Sitting next to her, I take Eve’s hand in mine. “If you’re not ready—”

“I need to tell you something.” She looks up at me, and her green eyes are swimming with unshed tears. “You’re…” They drop to the floor before they return to mine and she whispers. “You’re going to hate me.”

I laugh to try and lighten the mood. “That’s impossible, angel.”

Licking her lips, she pulls her hand from mine. “You know how I told you I had an imaginary friend?”

“Yeah.”

“It had to of been my sister, right?” She frowns. “She looked like me but not like me.” Getting to her feet, she starts to pace. “She was what I wanted to look like. She wasn’t malnourished or covered in bruises. She was beautiful—”

“You are beautiful, Eve.” I stand, grabbing her hand, bringing her to a stop.

She pulls it from mine once more and crosses them over her chest. “You don’t understand.”

“I’m trying to,” I admit, confused about where she’s going.

“I told her everything, Kash. I thought…I thought I made her up. My father and LeAnne made me think I was seeing things. The girl came and went, and no one even looked her way, let alone spoke to her.”

I sigh. It was their plan all along. They set Eve up. Who was she going to tell? No one. Garrett never let her leave Carnage.

“I’m the reason Isabella tortured you the way she did during your training.” Her eyes fill with fresh tears.

I frown. “What? No, Eve…”

“Yes.” She sniffs. “I was down in the basement that night your father found you. I was…” She swallows. “I was in my cell when your mother killed herself.” The first tear rolls down her cheek. “The following week, my imaginary friend showed up, and I told her I was in trouble for playing in the basement.”

“Angel—”

“I told her everything, and she just sat there and listened. Don’t you see?” She cries. “Vivian must have told LeAnne, who then told Isabella. That’s why she threw you into the cell your mother was in. I did that…” She points to herself.
