Yes. God, yes.

Easton takes me hard and fast, and when my orgasm hits, he muffles the sounds escaping me by kissing the ever-loving crap out of me. His body jerks against mine, and I savor the groan rumbling from his chest.

He thrusts twice more inside me before stilling, and with our foreheads pressed together, we lock eyes.

“Fuck, that felt good,” he says breathlessly. “Lucky for me, I get to spend tonight at home, so we can continue this later.”

“I look forward to it.” When he pulls out of me, my body shudders, and it makes him grin. After being together for close to a year, he still loves how sensitive I am for him.

We take a few seconds to clean up and get dressed before we leave the restroom.

“I was busy having coffee. Can I make you a smoothie?” I ask.

He shakes his head. “I’ll have coffee as well.”

While I prepare the beverage, he asks, “How is Lainey doing?”

“She’s okay.” I place his coffee in front of him before sitting down on a stool. It’s been exactly a year since Rachel was taken from us, and Lainey’s understandably sad.

We’re all sad, but we’ve decided to celebrate Rachel today. That’s why Easton came home.

“At least it looks like it will be a nice day for a barbeque,” he mentions.

“God, I’ve been craving your grilled steaks.”

“I hope it’s not all you’ve been craving,” he teases me with a smirk.

“I just jumped you the second you walked into the house, so that craving has been satisfied for the time being.”

He lets out a chuckle. “You can welcome me home like that any time.”

“Uncle Easton,” Lainey shouts as she comes flying down the stairs. “You’re home!”

“Of course. I told you I’d be back in time.” He climbs to his feet to hug her before pushing her back so he can look at her. “How have you managed to grow so much since I last saw you?”

“The growing pains suck,” she mutters. “Nova rubbed my legs the other night because the pain kept me awake.”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart.” He gives her another hug. “Hopefully, the growing pains pass quickly.”

She glances between us, then asks, “Can we watch the video now? I can’t wait until later.”

“Of course,” I reply. “I already brought the memory drive down. It’s on the coffee table.”

While Lainey goes to switch on the TV and plug in the memory drive, Easton and I take a seat on one of the couches. He wraps his arm around me and pulls me into his side.

Lainey grabs the remote and plops down beside me before bringing up the video on the TV screen.

She presses play, then grips the remote to her chest.

We all look at Rachel’s smiling face as she says, “Wow, has it already been a year?”

“Yes,” Lainey whispers, her face crumbling.

I rub my hand up and down her back while my own eyes mist with tears.

“I hope you’ve all been living your best lives.” Rachel’s face is filled with love. “Lainey, I know you miss me, my beautiful girl, but I hope you’ve spent the past year laughing more than you’ve been crying.”

Lainey nods, her chin quivering.

“Because every time you smile, the sun shines brighter, and the world deserves all the light you can give it.” Rachel takes a deep breath. “I want you to remember that wherever I am, nothing can stop me from loving you.”

“I love you, too, Mommy.”

I blink faster, but it doesn’t help, and my tears begin to fall.

Rachel’s expression grows mischievous as she says, “Easton and Nova, I really hope you finally got together and that you’re happy. Rachel is a really good name if you decide to have children. Just saying. If you still haven’t told each other how you feel, sorry, cat’s out of the bag.”

I let out a burst of laughter.

“Please don’t spend the whole day mourning me. Go have fun, or relax. Get something greasy, and stuff your faces. If it’s a nice day, have a barbeque and swim. Just live your lives and be happy because I’m happy knowing you’re all together.”

Lainey nods, her attention glued to the screen.

“I love you. Always and forever.” Rachel gives us a moment to look at her while she smiles.

“I love you, Mommy,” Lainey whispers through her tears.

I clear my throat before I say, “Love you, Rach.”

“I love you, Rachel,” Easton murmurs, and as if Rachel knew precisely how long it would take for us all to say the words back to her, she blows us a kiss before getting up to stop the recording.

Don’t worry, Rach, we’re living our best lives. I’m happily married to Easton, and Lainey is turning more and more into a mini you.
