“Look who the cat dragged in,” a low male voice says. “What the fuck? Who are you, and why are you at my cabin?”
I pick myself up slowly. Ouch, my shins hurt, and I think I banged my left knee on the way down. Not to mention, my braid’s now askew and my face is flushed with embarrassment. This is definitely not how a Sweet Lies encounter is supposed to start.
But I need to make things right because I’m here for a job. Stay calm, Avalon, the voice in my head instructs. Collect yourself, and then get to work.
The voice is right, and mentally, I will my blood pressure to subside while pasting a smile on my face. My mouth opens to start talking, but that’s when all the air whooshes out of my lungs because Liam Carrington is gorgeous. The mountain man is at least six four, his dark head almost hitting the door frame. His shoulders appear wider than a tank, with bulging biceps and a lean, flat waist. His thighs are as thick and sturdy as logs, but it’s the look in those blue eyes that make me shrink because Liam Carrington’s hostile. His gaze pierces me to the core, missing nothing, and he literally growls then.
“Again. What the fuck. Are you doing. At my cabin?” he bellows, practically blowing my eardrums out.
Oh no. To say we’re off to a bad start would be an understatement … and now, I’m at the mountain man’s mercy.

Liam
How the fuck did this curvy piece of ass get on my doorstep? Not only that, but she’s literally glaring at me now like she has every right to be here.
Granted, the young woman is beautiful. She’s got long blonde hair neatly pinned back, as well as big blue eyes and delicate, tip-tilted features. But it’s her body that revs mine up because she’s a siren. The chick has big Double D tits beneath that sweatshirt, and I desperately want to suckle them. A long loose skirt skims wide hips, finished off with cute sneakers and ruffled socks, and the effect is wholesome but also incredibly sexy.
“Who are you?” I demand again roughly. “Otherwise, get the fuck off my property.”
The girl inhales and then exhales slowly, as if fighting to keep her calm.
“I know my visit is unexpected—” she begins.
“Your visit?” I echo, black brows raised. “I didn’t invite you.”
“Okay, my presence then,” she replies in an even tone. “But let me introduce myself because I’m your new babysitter. I’m Avalon Leigh, nanny extraordinaire.”
I squint my eyes at the golden goddess.
“Says who? I didn’t order a nanny.”
She nods, as if expecting that comment.
“Yes, but your friend Rick Purdy did. You do know him, right? He said that you were here at the cabin with your little girl, Ellie, and he sent me to provide relief, meaning that I can take over some of Ellie’s care for the weekend. That way, you’ll get a break. Trust me, Mr. Carrington, I’ve worked with children my whole life and spending more than twenty minutes with a tot can be trying. You deserve a respite.”
Slowly, things start making sense because actually, Rick Purdy is the only person who knows the address of this cabin. He’s never been here before, but I’ve told him its location just for insurance purposes. Literally, for insurance purposes because the policy requires a second, and I decided to put that guy down. But the fucker’s actually goofed big time because my daughter’s not here right now. So what do I do? Should I correct the mistake and send this girl packing? Do I call Rick and give him an earful for being such a dumbfuck?
But as I take in Avalon, I notice the creaminess of her skin and the limpid innocence of her cornflower blue eyes. As she waits, I notice her big bust, wide, child-bearing hips, and the slender length of her ankles. My cock jerks, and the devil inside me laughs because why not have a bit of fun? I’ve been alone on the mountain for a couple days now and this could be very interesting, not to mention utterly debauched and wrong. So I pretend to think, and then smile widely at the young woman.
“Oh sure, right. Rick. Now that you mention it, I recall him saying something about sending a babysitter my way. Great, why don’t you come in, and we can have a talk about your skills and experience caring for children? As you can imagine, I like to scope out my babysitters first, just to make sure we’re on the same page. Please, come in.”
I see Avalon’s pupils widen with panic now that she has to “interview” for the job. I see how the sweet girl’s cheeks go pale, and how she blanches a bit with panic. But all that is gone in a blink of an eye, and she nods before shooting me a confident smile.
