From the looks on the faces of the others, they’re just as surprised. I stifle a laugh as Ryan tumbles to the floor and looks up at his grandmother in shock. I may manage to hold back my laughter, but Ryan’s brothers are cracking up.
Braxton is damn near in tears. Cass’s mother is just as feisty as she is. I have just as much respect for Laoise as I do Cass.
“Granny, what’s up?” John asks.
“The lot of them are all out of their minds. Now I understand why me boy was so livid on the last one of these trips. Ro is going to kill her, I tell ye. He’ll kill her; he will.
“And then how do I get me only great-granddaughter? The lad isn’t right in the noodle as it is. He’s not the full shilling at all; he isn’t.”
“Granny, what are you talking about?” Noah asks.
“Dean has lost her mind and so has the lot of them, rehearsing to parade around in their undies. Does she not see the way me son is about her? Madness to provoke that lad, it is.”
“Oh, I get it. They’re planning on a little showtime. Did we have something planned for this trip?” Ryan asks from the floor.
“No, I wasn’t thinking about it with the girls just having babies. I figured we’d sit this one out this trip. Especially with how pissed Uncle Ronan was last time.”
“Yeah, I didn’t want to provoke a repeat of that. He actually pulled the trigger. Dean should be banned from participating,” Brax says.
“Have you met her? The more he protests and tells her not to, the more she will,” John laughs.
“Bloody hell, Tina only does that shit to run my pressure up. I can’t blame him for his reaction,” Uri says.
I chuckle. “He was right; Tommaso was single and shouldn’t have been in the room. He was just unlucky that night. Wrong place, wrong time.”
“How are ye so calm? All ye birds were in there. I’m going to lay boots to Cass when I catch her later. I just needed to get out of there before I clobbered them all.”
“You’re seeing it wrong, Granny,” Ryan chuckles.
“Yeah, Uncle Ro was pissed last time because there was a single male in the room, but it’s just a bit of fun. I did think ahead, and I have a plan that will shut them down before it gets too out of hand this time.”
“Oh boy, I’m out,” Brax mutters.
“I hope Pam’s little ass wasn’t in on it this time,” Nate grumbles.
“Aye, she was there,” Laoise mutters as she’s still seething.
“Even better. Nate, I know I can count on you this time. What do you guys say? I have a way to stop this once and for all.”
Nate snorts. “Depends on what you have planned.”
“Granny, why don’t you get in on it with us? It will be fun,” Ryan croons.
“Ach, I don’t want to see ye fuckers in your knickers and ye won’t be seeing me in me smalls either,” Laoise grumbles and folds her arms over her chest.
“You don’t have to strip down, Granny. We don’t want to see that shit either,” Ryan scoffs.
“Did I ever tell ya yer parents ordered ya out of a magazine and couldn’t get a refund after? That’s how we got stuck with ya,” Laoise deadpans.
A thunderous roar of collective laughter fills the air. I’m holding my stomach at this point. Laoise is a sharp one.
“Ach, Granny, really?” Ryan pouts.
“Aye, I keep telling ya not to mess with me. I got more where that came from, I do.
“Keep it up and I’ll put ipecac in yer orange juice in the morning. Ya be no match for me, lad. Now where’s me whiskey?”
Noah walks a tumbler of whiskey over to his feisty grandmother as he wipes away tears of laughter. I look around, not for the first time today, and realize this has become my family.
I would die for any of the people in this room and they for me. As the laughter settles, Ryan lays out his plan. Tomorrow night will be interesting for sure.
Hours later, when we all call it a night, I’m still laughing and looking forward to tomorrow evening. I may have to have everyone check in their weapons before entering the hall. Ronan has one hot temper, and Dean knows how to trigger it when she wants.
“God, this is going to be interesting,” I mutter as I get ready for bed.
Tasha
It’s been a long but fun day. I can’t remember when the last time was that I laughed so hard. Between the girls and the kids, I constantly found myself wiping tears from my eyes.
Rehearsing for tomorrow night’s shenanigans nearly took me out. I needed this trip more than I knew. It’s like I can feel my battery recharging.
“You still awake?” Lasalle breathes into my ear as he slides into bed behind me, cupping my breast over my satin pajama tank top as he spoons me.
