He watched as her brother sighed. “You make some very valid points, and I don’t like it, but I don’t see what harm there could be if I give you a few tips to help you make amends with my sister.”
Diego couldn’t help but smile. If Enzo Jr. needed to come up with some way of making this agreeable to him, then he was all for it. Just so long as he got to learn more about Liana and how he could win her back.
He had no doubt that come the harsh light of day, or a morning with her friends, she was not going to be happy having sex with him, not once but twice. So, he wanted to be prepared.
“Liana loves everyday things. She is not much of a shopper. In fact, she hates going clothes shopping. Don’t get me wrong, she loves clothes, and once she finds something she likes, she will order it in every shade. She does not like to fiddle with what she knows.”
Diego had noticed this. In the six months they had been married, the few occasions he took her shopping, he’d been the one to insist they go, because he assumed that was what she would like. He had been so wrong.
“Let me think, what next, she loves to shoot guns. She doesn’t like actual moving targets, as you know, but she does like to shoot and be able to defend herself. She doesn’t like to be thought of as weak.”
That explained why she was so angry with him and his assumption about her.
“She loves to cook and bake. It goes down the line from our mother to our grandmother, and great-grandmother. They loved to cook, and when they did cook, it was a sign of their love.” Enzo Jr. sighed. “She loves romance, although she claims not to. Liana is a sucker for a romance movie and story, although she will try to hide it. She also loves big monster movies. The bigger and more lame, the better. She cannot get enough of them. She hates horror movies, and if she does ever sit through one, expect to stay up with her throughout the night, because they terrify her that much. Dad and I had to do that a few times. Especially around Halloween. She loves that time of year as well. She is a sucker for candy. Has she started decorating your place yet?”
Diego shook his head.
“You want to win her over, buy some decorations for inside and outside of your place. Decide where you’re going to stay during that time and just enjoy it. She bakes so much stuff, and she will go around to the neighbors, even if they don’t like you.” Enzo Jr. laughed. “I’m a guy that hates pumpkin, yet the moment Liana bakes something with pumpkin, I am a sucker for it, and I cannot get enough, it is so damn good.”
Liana was amazing. Diego hadn’t even realized what kind of woman she was, but there was so much to Liana than he first anticipated. She was a wild one.
“Liana loves dogs. She’s not crazy for cats. She heard something that if you die and you own a cat, your cat will eat you. She did cry about the dog part, but I won’t get into that. She loves dogs, like, a lot. She has always wanted one, but I don’t know, it was the one thing Dad always said no on, and I guess that meant we never had dogs. I’ve already told you she loves Halloween. Don’t forget about Christmas as well. She is so into Christmas. Mom and Liana always loved Christmas and baking together, setting up these little traditions.”
“Little traditions?”
“Yeah, like, on December first, there would be a style of cookie, and then maybe on the third, another one. Those kinds of things. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah, it does.” He couldn’t help but smile thinking about the kind of woman Liana was.
“You know, my sister is anything but a doormat. However, she wanted to make Dad proud. I think it was also her way of making Mom proud. She didn’t have Mom or Grandma to prepare her for being a married woman. Just me and Dad, and let’s face it, Dad never remarried, and I’ve not married yet.” He shrugged. “We did the best we could.”
“Let me guess, did that involve telling her to do everything her husband told her and to be subservient, even when doing something you don’t want to do?”
“Actually, no, it was more along the lines of asking her to understand her husband and not get too hotheaded if he demands something she doesn’t like. Also, if he hurt her, then she was to call us up and tell us immediately, so we could come and kick your ass,” Enzo Jr. said, pointing the golf club his way.
