“Damn it, Izzy,” I growl.

Beau laughs, the sound like tinkling bells, spreading warmth inside of me. I look at her and she smiles, and I join her. “He’s slowly making progress,” Beau confirms.

“Yay! I have a new sister,” Izzy celebrates.

“What’s this about a lockdown? Is the club in trouble?” Grifter asks. I give him a look, pissed off he’d ask—even if I’d probably do the same. He immediately holds his hands up. “I’m just wondering so I can offer my club’s support if you need it.”

“Well,” I sigh. “It’s not so much a club thing as the bitch that used to be on the back of my bike causing issues,” I confess.

“Wait? My ass was dragged all the way here because of that bitch Robin?” Izzy hisses.

“It’s a nice ass,” Candyman puts in. I give him a look meant to shrivel his damn dick so he can’t use it around my sister. The bastard just gives me a cocky grin.

“Maybe the two of us can talk about an alliance while I’m here,” Grifter addresses King.

“I’d like that. The Blaze is in the process of rebuilding, but we’re getting there. I’m a firm believer that the more allies you have, the harder it is for enemies to attack. I have a wife and a baby girl, men and their families depending on me. I don’t take that honor lightly,” King says, not blinking as he looks Grifter in the eye.

“Since finding my Georgia, I completely agree. You and I should definitely talk, besides my woman has a good feeling about you.”

“I don’t think I’ve met her,” King says, sounding confused and I have to admit, so am I.

“You haven’t. She just gets these visions sometimes—usually at night while she’s dreaming.”

“Interesting,” King says, probably thinking Grifter’s woman is probably a little nutty, but I suppose an alliance is an alliance when you need extra muscle at your back. “Head on over to the clubhouse once you get done here and we’ll talk.”

“Sounds good,” Grifter agrees.

“I’m going to go make a snack if I’m stuck here. Do you care, Beau?”

“Help yourself, Izzy,” Beau responds.

“Thanks,” she says, shooting me a dirty look and walking off.

“I don’t think your sister is happy with all of this,” Beau sighs as we watch her walk away.

“Izzy is rarely happy when it has to do with Robin—well, that and anything that interrupts her career path.”

“Are you ready to look at your newest moneymaker, Griff?” Beau asks, switching the subject and trying to get back on course.

“You know it,” he says as we walk to Beau’s personal garage—which is separate from the one her men use.

I know I don’t really need to be around, but honestly, I want to watch Beau in action. It’s more than that, though. I’m addicted to her. It’s torture being away from her. That might show her just how much she has me wrapped around her finger, but I don’t really give a damn. It’s going to be my job from here on out to show her just how special she is to me. It’s actually something that I’m looking forward to. I just need to find a way to make her truly believe me when I tell her that she’s everything I’ll ever want. I have a bad feeling that’s going to be hard to do.

It's a good thing I’m up for the challenge—especially if the prize is having Beau beside me for the rest of my life.

Chapter 23

Izzy

I get inside Beau’s kitchen and grab a beer out of the fridge. I use the edge of her counter to take the top off and then walk into the living room and plop down on the couch. I can’t believe they pulled me away from school during finals week. I’m so pissed. I know I’m coming off like a bitchy, spoiled kid, but my family has never understood me. They don’t realize how much I want to have my own career separate from the club.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the Devil’s Blaze. Even when I got shit from kids in school, I loved that my family was part of the club. It’s just that there were times growing up that the club took up everything. Family vacations? No matter what was planned, if Dad was needed at the club? It came first. My graduation? Dad was out of town. Prom? Dad was out of town. The day of my driver’s test? Yep, Dad was gone. Basically, any landmark day in my life Dad was unavailable. I doubt he even realized it, but it’s true just the same.

Dad was proud when I told him and Mom that I was going to be a doctor. At least, I think he was. I just don’t think he realizes how taxing the schooling is. I’m busting my ass and then they just come and pick me up without even worrying that they could derail my graduation. It’s freaking infuriating. Now, I’m going to have to call my professors and beg …
