“Robin,” I growl, knowing instantly the adder trying to sneak up and bite me in the ass is her. I don’t even question or doubt it. “It’s her. I’m completely fucking positive.”
“If it is, then we’re going to have to monitor her constantly because you, your kid, and even Beau could be in her crosshairs.”
“Motherfucker. I need to go see Beau,” I snarl, raking my hand through my hair.
“First, we need to get rid of this shit. We also need to realize this is a bigger problem than just your ex making waves—if, in fact, it is your Ex.”
“That’s the only one it could be,” I insist stubbornly.
“Then, let me ask you one question,” King says.
“What’s that?”
“Your ex, is she loaded?”
“Bitch hasn’t worked a day in her life. I gave her a hundred grand for my boy, but I’m pretty sure she’s dead ass broke now. I’ve heard she’s been finding men to pay her shit for the last couple of years. When that doesn’t work, she hits up her grandmother who is suffering from the beginning stages of dementia.”
“You sure picked the cream of the crop to be the mother of your child,” Pez mutters.
“I wish I could argue, but fucking hell, I can’t.”
“So, tell me, how the fuck could she afford four kilos of coke and a few dime bags. You have to go over the numbers. Depending on what it’s cut with, you’re anywhere from a hundred-k, to almost three. There’s no way she can front that kind of money.”
“Jesus.”
“Until we find out who it is, we need to keep our shit on lockdown. You do not go anywhere alone. We’re going to activate the buddy system. Someone from the club needs to have your back at all times, B.”
“I need a couple of men to follow me to Beau’s. I want to go through her house, garage and vehicles. I need to make sure they aren’t trying to go after her, too.”
“Skull, Torch and Sabre are already on top of that. Your Dad and Skull are at Beau’s house and Sabre took Apex and Playboy to the garage.”
“You had time to do all that and didn’t tell me sooner?” I ask, getting angrier than I already was.
“The safest place for you right now is here, until we make sure everything you own is clean.”
“I’m going to Beau’s. If she’s dragged into this shit, she’s going to know I’m at her side,” I snap. “You’d do the same with Gabby and don’t tell me you wouldn’t take my fucking head off if I didn’t tell you immediately so you could get to her.”
“Gabby is my wife. We have a kid,” King points out.
I lean over the table and look him dead in the eye. “Beau is my woman. Mine. She may not have a ring on her finger yet, but she fucking will. My child lives under her roof, King. So, it’s the same damn scenario. You should have told me!” I roar my response at the asshole then I turn to leave. “Pez if you’re going to have my back you better start now. I’m heading to Beau.”
“You got it, man,” Pez says at once. King doesn’t respond. I can feel the weight of his stare hit my back, but I don’t fucking care. I have bigger worries, and they all revolve around getting home to Beau and Ty and making sure they’re safe. That’s all that matters.
Chapter 21
Beau
“Did you find anything?” I question Skull as he gets back from checking out my car.
“Nothing in it. I think the main target here was BB,” he says. This doesn’t make me feel better at all. That means someone is out to hurt Hunter.
“So, what’s the next step?”
“Beau—”
“We need to find out who is behind this, Skull.”
“King called and said BB was on his way over here. He seems to think it’s Robin.”
“Robin?” I repeat, shocked. The scene outside my house was ugly, but Skull and Torch told me what they had found in Hunter’s bike and truck. That seems more evolved than just a jealous ex.
“Yeah,” Skull says watching me closely. I can feel Torch doing the same.
“You don’t think it is?” Torch finally asks.
“I mean, I don’t know her. If you tell me that it’s possible, then I kind of have to take your word for it. Still, it doesn’t feel right to me.”
“Who else could it be?” Skull asks.
“I don’t know, and I know next to nothing about coke, but remember that drug bust they had that was statewide back in July? Now, there were other drugs but the main one mentioned was cocaine that was cut with Fentanyl. They valued the drugs well over six hundred thousand dollars. That doesn’t seem like something Robin could come up with to hurt Hunter,” I explain.
All three of us turn as a bike comes up my drive. I take a deep breath, feeling relieved to see Hunter. He shuts his bike off and comes straight to me. My heart skips a beat when I see the intensity on his face. He wraps one arm around me, his hand resting against the side of my neck as he pulls me into a kiss. I forget his father and Skull are standing with us. I forget everything, but Hunter’s hold on me, and his tongue dueling with mine. I get completely lost in the kiss. I thought I was in love with this man the first night we were together. That didn’t end well for me. Yet, every single day that I’m with Hunter I know I’m falling deeper and deeper.
