EPILOGUE

Arabella stood staring out at the trees behind Abe’s house.

Well, it was their house now.

So much had happened in such a short time that it still shocked her when she thought about it.

She had a beautiful house, wonderful friends, and two amazing men.

Lee Newsome whose name was really Reggie Marion, weirdly enough, had been arrested and was waiting for trial along with Deputy Doofus. Who was not faring well in prison.

Their drug operation had been dismantled. Arabella had told Jake that Lee/Liam/Reggie had something on the head of the town council but Jake had no idea what it could be. And without any proof of wrongdoing there was nothing he could do.

They’d moved into their house last weekend and she loved working in her new kitchen. She was able to get far more done in her own space, although she was still selling her cakes in Iona’s bakery.

They’d bought Abe’s house, but only after she’d made certain that he wanted to move into a nursing home and wasn’t being pressured.

He hadn’t been entirely sure about the move until he’d met Pop-Pop who had come for a visit about a week after her kidnapping. Pop-Pop had fallen in love with the town and decided that he wanted to move here. Despite the fact that he’d have to leave his ladies behind.

He and Abe were now creating chaos in the Haven nursing home and loving every second of it.

Arabella loved having Pop-Pop closer to her. And it seemed he wasn’t missing his female friends since he now had four new girlfriends.

Four!

Sheesh. She didn’t know where he found the energy.

A happy sigh escaped her. Everything was perfect.

“Arabella! What are you doing out here on your own?” Kellan snapped.

Well, almost everything.

Eli and Kellan were having a lot of trouble letting her out of her sigh.

There was a low woof and she saw Horse walking slowly behind Kellan.

Oh, and so was Horse. But she was giving him a pass since he’d saved her life.

She had the world’s best dog. He’d led her guys along with Jake and his deputies to the bunker where Lee/Liam had been holding her imprisoned.

Kellan said it was uncanny how well he’d tracked her down. Luckily, Lee/Liam/Reggie hadn’t locked the steel door and they’d stopped him before he could shoot her.

Horse had been hurt, but Colin said he’d make a full recovery.

She dropped down onto her knees and hugged him gently. “My hero. What are you doing? Come on, you should come inside and lie down.”

“I think he’s getting bored being inside,” Eli said as he walked up to them.

“What are you doing out here alone?” Kellan demanded.

She glared at him. “Kellan Jones, I’m allowed to leave the house on my own.”

Kellan crossed his arms over his chest. “No, you’re not.”

“We were worried when we couldn’t find you,” Eli added.

Her temper faded and she nodded. “I know. I know that my kidnapping scared you guys. But I’m fine. The threat is gone. No one is going to hurt me. What happens when you have to leave on a case? You’ll need to leave me then.”

Kellan grunted. “We’ll take you with us.”

She shot him a look. No, they wouldn’t. The were still working for the FBI, but their boss had agreed that they only had to come to the office when strictly necessary. The rest of the time they could work from home.

And drive her nuts.

“It will just take us some time to get over,” Eli told her. “You can give us that, right?”

“Right,” she said with a smile as she stood and wrapped her arm around each of them.

“I’m safe. I’m fine. You guys and Horse saved me. And I know that no matter what you’ll keep me safe, that you’ll always come for me.”

“Always,” Eli told her.

“Forever,” Kellan added.

“Woof.”
