“Do you want to lick it off?” I wiggled my booty at Ian, who rolled his eyes but again grinned.

David smacked the other cheek.

“Oooh, do it again,” I teased, wanting to make them both smile. I got my wish, and I wasn’t going to pretend it didn’t make my pulse race and pride swell in my chest.

I noticed no one offered to lick my ass, so I grumbled and wiped myself with a towel. I got three glasses and poured us some OJ. I took Ian’s to him before grabbing mine and David’s and taking my seat at the table.

We didn’t talk about anything important until David finished cooking and made us all plates. “Thank you, Daddy,” I told him.

“You’re welcome, boy.” He really was a caretaker.

“Thanks,” Ian added.

“You’re welcome too.”

When we all sat, I began eating, but I was also waiting for David to say whatever it was he needed to say. We were like a strange family or something, always having our important conversations around the table.

“Did you like what we did?” David finally asked Ian.

“I think it’s pretty obvious I did.”

“We can do this without the sarcasm, please.”

For a moment, I thought Ian was going to argue, but he nodded and mumbled, “Sorry.”

“I know we talked about this before, but tonight changes things. I’m going to be completely honest with you, pup. I want you. I want you badly. Jordan wants you. And I think you want both of us too.”

I waited for any jealousy to hit me. It didn’t. The truth was, as much as I wanted David, I wanted Ian too, so how could I be upset that David also wanted Ian?

“I’d like you to join us more often,” David continued.

“I’m not calling you Daddy,” Ian rushed out.

Now I felt slightly hurt. “Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

“I know. It’s just not me.” Ian reached over and squeezed my hand. I appreciated the effort.

“No problem.”

“You don’t have to call me Daddy. Ian, what you don’t understand is that part of the beauty of this kind of relationship is that it’s unique for everyone. My relationship with Jordan isn’t the same as Aidan’s with Finley. My relationship with you will be different from mine with Jordan. Your relationship with Jordan will be distinct from what it is with me. It’s all about trust. About honesty. About having conversations, and building what works best for each person, and how we can fit those things together. How we can give each other what we want or need.”

Even though I understood the dynamic better these days, hearing it from David made me realize again how right this was for me and how proud I was that I got to explore it with him. “When David and I first started, he asked me lots of questions. I told him how much control I wanted to give, what I was interested in, what limits I wanted him to push. He’ll only push me as far as I allow him to. David’s in control because I give him control over me. It’s something I want.”

Ian shook his head. “That’s the thing. How do I know if I want that? Hell, how do I know if I can even do it? I don’t think… I don’t think I’ll be good at it—handing over the reins to someone like that.”

“Then we stop. You have all the power, Ian. You say stop, we stop. You say too far, we don’t go further. You say no now, we don’t do this. The question is, do you want us? Not just because we made you come your brains out.”

I held my breath. David looked steady as ever. We waited one beat, two, three. Ian took a drink, then said, “Yes, okay? I do. And it’s freaking me out because I don’t understand it, and I’m not like you guys. I’m not like Finley. I can’t just trust someone that easily!” His hand began to shake, and he looked down.

We were different in so many ways. I didn’t have trouble trusting the way he did. I let things roll off my shoulders, but Ian couldn’t, and it broke my heart.

David got my attention and nodded toward Ian, so I stood, walked over, and wiggled my way onto his lap because I knew Ian would never ask for it but would take comfort from it.

“We’ll take care of you,” I told him.

He held me with one arm, his thumb rubbing back and forth over two knots of my spine.

When he didn’t reply, David said, “Ian.” He looked up and met David’s gaze. “Then say no. Say it right now. Say it in an hour. Say it tomorrow. In a week. You can always say no. But if you’re curious, if that spark I saw in your eyes tonight was true, I can make you fly. I can set you free.”
