“Did she come solo?”
“I helped.”
Heath blinked until it hit him what Dayne meant. “I meant…”
Dayne smirked. “I know what you meant. I was seeing if you had a sense of humor.”
“I normally do but work’s been stressful and overwhelming lately, so it might reappear once I decompress a little.” That little orgy was a good start. The private hot tub behind his cabin would help, too. He might even book a massage.
“What do you do?”
“Nothing as exciting as owning a resort built around sex. I’m an investor.”
A dark blond eyebrow rose. “Of?”
This man was awfully interested in Heath’s life, but since he had already planned on seeking him out, Dayne only saved him the trouble.
“Stocks, bonds, real estate, whatever will make me money.” Whatever made him good money. Especially since he lost most of it during his divorce. It took a while to rebuild his accounts and investments again. Unfortunately, he still owed the witch monthly alimony payments.
He never wanted to go through a divorce again.
“A day trader?”
“More like a pattern day trader.”
“I’m an investor, too, in a way. As CFO of the resort, I handle the resort’s funds and investments.”
Sounded like they had more in common than only being interested in Cara. “What’s your background?”
“Certified Management Accountant. However, I prefer my current job.” He air-quoted the last word.
Heath was sure he did. Most likely for the perks.
“By the way, Cara showed some interest in you.”
“It was mutual.”
“She wasn’t the only one.” Dayne held Heath’s eyes when he raised them. “If you’d like to join us on our afternoon tour, I’m sure she won’t mind.”
“Just the three of us?”
“Yes, unless there’s someone else you’d like to invite?”
“I don’t know anyone else,” Heath answered.
“You were just in a fuckfest with five other people.”
“Doesn’t mean I know them. I couldn’t tell you their names.”
Dayne chuckled. “Well, if you’d like to join us, I’ll be waiting in a UTV at the lodge’s entrance.” He glanced at his watch. “Maybe around three or so?”
“What’s a UTV?”
“Utility vehicle. Like a four-wheeler.”
“It fits three people?”
“This one fits four. So, if you do find someone you’d like to invite, there’s room.”
“Thank you for the offer. I’ll think about it.” With that, he continued on to his cabin. Both a hot shower and the hot tub were waiting for him.
Then, if he happened to be in the mood later, maybe a hot man and woman as well.
Chapter Six
The text stated Dayne would be waiting in front of the lodge at three.
The second Cara stepped outside, he was hard to miss. He stood out in the sun, with a hand raised to shade his eyes while he surveyed the lake.
Was there another orgy happening in the grass down there?
She stepped beside him and peered in the same direction. No orgy this afternoon. Just a couple having sex on one of the paddle boats in the middle of the water. She guessed people could find the most unique places to do it around here.
Dayne might be making sure the boat didn’t tip and the guests ended up drowning. That would be bad for business.
She turned to him and announced, “I’m ready for my tour.”
His head twisted toward her and his forehead creased. “Sorry?”
“My tour. Wasn’t I supposed to be here at three?”
Before she could pull out her cell phone to double check the text, clarity filled his face. Had he forgotten already? Weird.
“Ah, yes. You must have made plans with my twin.”
“Twin,” she repeated.
The man jutted out his hand. “Welcome to the Double D. I’m Dylan Lyons, one of the co-owners. You must’ve already met my twin, Dayne.”
“He mentioned a brother but not that you’re twins.” Or maybe she missed that tidbit last night due to her nerves.
“Despite being identical, we’re not exactly the same.”
Dayne joined them and slapped Dylan on the chest. “Thankfully. Dylan is boring. Me? I’m a bundle of excitement.”
She blinked as she took them both in. They certainly were identical.
Being constantly mistaken for each other had to be a pain. The only slight differences she could see between the two were the cut of their hair, which was still very similar, and the fact that Dayne was clean-shaven.
Dylan rolled his eyes. “Enjoy your stay…” He pointed to his brother. “Only, watch this one. I suggest carrying pepper spray.”
“Pepper spray?”
Dayne cupped his hand around the side of his mouth, leaned in and stage-whispered, “His jokes are never funny.”
“That was a joke?” she asked.
Dayne shrugged. “Exactly.” He turned to her and tipped his head down. “Sorry for running a few minutes late. I got sucked into a virtual meeting against my will and I still need to go grab the UTV. Why don’t you go back inside and hang out in the lounge or grab a drink by the pool. I can text you once I’m out front with it.”
