Maize stands to the side with a nervous grin as Kane and Ivy carefully cut into it. Flashes from the professional photographers and cell phone cameras fill the room as they feed each other small bites of cake with their fingers.

“Mmm. This is the best cake I’ve ever had,” Kane tells Maize, and I see her shoulders relax. Kaitlyn has another drink in her hand, which isn’t surprising, considering that speech was the last thing on her list.

After we eat our cake, which is so delicious, I go back for seconds, and the lights are dimmed even more. Kaitlyn and I are nearly the only two people still sitting out of three hundred. I suck in a deep breath and look at her.

“Do you wanna dance?” I ask, even though I know dancing really isn’t her thing.

“Sure, cowboy. Lead the way,” she says, and I take her hand.

Her warm fingers wrap around my neck, and I grab her curvy hips. I try not to focus on her eyes, but she’s staring at me with fire in her gaze. I spin her around and zero in on her. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

With a snort, she tries to brush it off, but I see a slight blush creep on her cheeks. “Wait, was I eye-fucking you?”

I smirk, not expecting anything different to come from her mouth. I love that she can hold her own even with her smart-ass brothers. “Probably the wine.”

“Definitely the wine,” she agrees, even though I willingly gave her that out.

Against my better judgment, I pull her closer and rest my palms right above her perfect ass. Leaning in, I bring my mouth to her ear and whisper, “I’m not lettin’ you drive home tonight.”

“Mm. Are you takin’ me to your house instead?”

And there she is again, the flirty drunk Kaitlyn who says whatever is on her mind.

“Woman…” She’s testing my willpower not to provoke her even more just to see what else she’d blurt out.

“What? Am I not your type or somethin’?” she asks with venom in her tone.

Unfortunately, we’ve been best friends for too long, so her intimidation tactics don’t faze me. Instead, I stifle a laugh. “Oh, Kate. You’ve had way too much to drink, and while I find it adorable, it’s also dangerous. You already don’t have a filter, but this is Kaitlyn with her balls out.”

She chuckles. “That was a good non-answer. You know what they say, a drunk man’s lies are a sober man’s truth.”

I study her, wondering if she has feelings for me like that. At times, I’ve felt an underlying current streaming between us, but I’ve always ignored it. The last thing I’d ever want to do is screw something up with her or the Bishops.

She leans in and meets my ear with her lips. Her warm breath brushes against my skin, and I’m trying so damn hard to control myself, but she’s pushing me. “Honestly, I just need you to pull my hair, fuck me raw, then knock me up.”

I swallow hard and fist the silk material of her bridesmaid dress as the thoughts of doing that very thing nearly consume me.

We’re close, almost too close, and for the first time in a long-ass time, Kaitlyn Bishop has made me speechless. And she notices.

“Well?” She turns around, rubbing her ass on my rock-hard cock, and I nearly get lost in the moment. She continues to grind against me, and it feels so goddamn good that I’m tempted to take her into the bathroom and give her exactly what she’s begging for.

“I don’t know how to respond to that, Kate.”

“All you need to say is yes.” Kaitlyn spins back toward me, wrapping her arms around my neck. She has me thinking inappropriate thoughts from the way she’s looking at me. “Or not.”

Before I can say anything, another ranch hand comes over and tries to cut in, but Kaitlyn tells him no thanks.

“I’ve never seen a woman reject switching dance partners.”

“He’s too young for me.”

“He’s twenty,” I deadpan.

She leans in and whispers, “I want a man, Payton. Not someone who can’t even legally buy me a drink.”

“Goddamn.” I hear Knox say as he spins Hadleigh around. “You tryin’ to make babies on the dance floor?”

Kaitlyn transitions from a seductive prowess to Satan in all of two seconds. She pushes away from me, then apologizes to Hadleigh before she cuts in.

She stabs her finger into his chest. “Don’t make me knee you in the dick because so help me God, I will take you down,” she threatens loud enough for Hadleigh and me to hear.

Knox laughs loudly, which only pisses her off even more.

“Okay, okay, that’s enough brotherly and sisterly love for tonight,” I say, yanking Kaitlyn away before she causes a scene.

She’s a seething mess.

“You good?” I ask, noticing the color drain from her face.
