“You’re sure about that?” Bolt asked.
“I need to have some closure and the only way to do that is by keeping him alive, and allowing him to slowly rot.”
Bolt winced. “You’ve pissed him off.”
Vincent tried to crawl away, and Venom shot him twice more in both ass cheeks. He was pissed off. Morwenna was still in a coma. This man had caused so much pain, so much chaos, killed so many. He relished seeing other people’s pain, and this was going to be the last of it. There was no way he was going to allow him to just die. That would be too kind.
And Venom was not a kind person.
Chapter Twenty-One
Morwenna took a deep breath and then another, opening her eyes and seeing the bright white of a ceiling. Some sounds were a little fuzzy in the distance, but she opened her eyes and closed them again.
As she did, all the memory of what happened came back. The attacks, getting Bolt to the hospital, telling him she would always love him, but she wasn’t in love with him. Being attacked outside of the hospital, the car crash, the wound to her stomach, which she just felt with her hand.
“You’re awake,” Bolt said.
“Yay,” Kyle said.
Morwenna turned to see Bolt, his three kids, as well as Storm and her mother in her hospital room. The next hour went by so fast as the doctors came in and checked her vitals, and with each passing second, she started to feel better.
Only, there was no Venom. She didn’t know if she had imagined it, or if Venom really had come to get her, kissed her, and told her he loved her. Had she dreamt that? All she knew for sure was that she was awake, and he was not at the hospital, where he was supposed to be.
Bolt hugged her, as did all his kids, then Storm, and finally her mother.
King was at the door, and it wasn’t long before Maverick turned up and several of the club women as well as the men. They all came in and hugged her, but none of them were Venom.
She was allowed to be left, as the doctors got to work releasing her from some of the machines, and she was able to use the bathroom by herself. Her legs were a little like jelly, but her mother was there, helping her. Her father arrived, and he hugged her tightly.
The doctors wanted to keep her in for observation, but the few hours she had been awake, she hated her time at the hospital.
And then, just as she came out of the bathroom, her room was empty, and it was like all of her wishing and dreaming had finally brought Venom right to her.
She looked at him, and she didn’t know quite what had happened, as he pulled her into his arms and she pressed her face against his neck.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for you,” he said.
“How long was I out?” Morwenna asked.
“Three months,” he said.
“It’s March now.”
“March!” Morwenna pulled back and looked at him. “Three months?” She looked at his face and saw he had lost weight. “You’ve not been eating properly.”
“I love your food, and no one else’s food is good enough. Not even your mother’s.”
“My mother’s?”
“Yeah, she has tried to feed me.” He wrinkled his nose. “Nothing is as good as your food.”
Morwenna laughed.
“I lied to you,” Venom said, and Morwenna felt her stomach flip. “There was no bet. There was no exchange of money. Well, I paid Diesel to send me the texts, but they were not real. He didn’t want to do it, and I thought I was doing everything to keep you safe. That is what I was doing. I was trying to keep you safe, and I’m a fucking idiot, and I know I messed up, but I love you, Morwenna. I love you more than anything in the world, and I want you to be my wife.”
“Your wife?” she asked.
“Yeah.”
“But I’m married to Bolt.”
“He signed the papers and worked with your lawyer to clear everything. You’re a free woman, or you are until you marry me. I know I’ve got a lot to make up for.”
She grabbed his face, pulled him down, and kissed him. “Shut up.”
He sunk his fingers into her hair, kissed her, and Morwenna felt like her toes were curling. This is what she had been wanting for so long. She knew why he had done what he did. The threat of the Karamazov was real.
Suddenly, she pulled away. “What about the Karamazov?” she asked.
“They’re not a problem anymore. In fact, I think someone might be happy that you’ve finally woken up,” Venom said.
This made her frown. “Let’s just say, you being awake can finally grant him some peace.”
She was so confused but rather than ruin this moment, she instead cupped his face and pulled him in for another kiss, as they had so many to make up for.
