Our chests compete for air when he slips his hand under the waistband of my sweatpants and narrows his middle finger toward my vagina, but that is the only sign of a protest. I don’t clamp my thighs together or loll my head to the side. I return his stare as if my stomach isn’t twisted in knots before breathing out the pain his intrusion causes when he pushes his finger deep inside me.

His breathing changes when he leans his body in closer, bringing his lips to within an inch of mine He’s so close, I hear his faintest murmur when he swivels the fat digit he stuffed inside me. “Fucking Christ, you’re tight.”

A shuddering breath ripples through my lips when his thumb attempts to arouse my clit. Unlike the doctor’s attempt, his is effective. His briefest touch sends a zap through my body and almost buckles my knees, but before I can question how something so simple can feel so amazing, Ghost yanks his hand out of my sweatpants, then spins around so his back faces me.

“Go, маленький ягненок. Go now before I sully you so much, we all join the doctor on the bottom of the ocean.” I remain still for barely a second before his roar kickstarts my legs and heart. “Go!”

I race out of the room as fast as my quivering legs will take me.

GHOST

“How can you be sure?”

As I stare at the door I had Katie pinned to not even ten minutes ago, the front of my pants tighten. “Because she is too scared to lie.” And I am a fucking prick who didn’t take her word for it.

You have no clue how hard it was for me to stop when her thighs swept open instead of clamming shut like in the footage from the doctor’s office. There were no tears rolling down her face, no requests for me to stop. She liked my hands on her as much as I’d love the scent of her arousal surrounding my cock.

“I don’t trust these men. I want a more thorough investigation. She was sick—”

“Because her stomach is not used to sustenance,” I interrupt, my voice almost on the cusp of dictating. “They starved her for years. She is a bag of bones.” That’s why it was so fucking hard to follow his orders that she not eat for stealing. She went without supper before ignoring my peace offering several days later.

It pissed me off to no end, but I can’t disclose that, or more bodies will be dumped overboard, and not all of them will be insolent fools. At least three of them will be innocent bystanders of my inability to keep my focus on the task at hand.

Katie is still the beautiful, ripe woman I bid on and won four years ago—I’ve changed more than her—but she barely weighs a thing, and the light in her eyes I once thought would never be snuffed is only a glimmer.

My back molars crunch together when Kirill mutters, “We will fix that when she is swollen with my son.” Hearing the groan I wasn’t meant to release, he adds, “Do you need a reminder of what occurs when orders are not followed?”

As I catch sight of my reflection in the blackened monitor on my left, I shake my head.

I know too well the consequences of my actions.

My face holds the stories of my betrayals.

As does hers.

“I will make sure the tests are completed myself.”

Kirill hums in approval. “If she is saintly as claimed, continue on course. If not…” He stops to ensure I can’t miss his evil smirk, even with him being thousands of miles away. “Gift her to—”

I disconnect our call before he can finalize his reply.

I know his orders.

He doesn’t need to repeat them.

Because the exact thing he wants to do to Katie will happen to my sister if I disobey him.

The buzzer on my desk cracks under the pressure of my hit when I press the intercom button. Intercoms are wired throughout the ship, but mine only goes to one room—Alek’s.

“Bring her to Grigori’s chamber.” He knows who I’m referencing as he is the only man beside me that I trust with Katie. That’s why she is sleeping in my room. She is the ultimate representation of virtue, and every man on this ship wants to break her. “And knock before entering,” I add after spotting Katie’s entrance to our room. She must have sprinted because this cargo ship is a city on the sea.

“Grigori isn’t there.”

The lack of empathy in Alek’s voice tugs my lips on one side. He knows of his fate because he cleared away the mess before assisting me in eradicating the scum who foolishly mocked me. I didn’t kill them solely to force the rest of my men’s respect. I did it because they looked when they were instructed to keep their eyes to themselves.
