“Did you have a lot of injuries in the beginning?” Dean questioned, and I grinned.

“Fuck yes. Every good rider has them. This is the second time I’ve broken my collarbone. The first was at six. I’ve broken an ankle and a wrist too. Lots of bruises and getting banged up.”

“Rush!” Linc playfully swatted the back of my head.

“Ouch. Damn it.”

“Why do you sound all dreamy about your broken bones!”

“Not dreamy as in I want to do it again. Can’t ride when you’re hurt.” I winked at him, and he rolled his eyes. “Injuries are part of it. Crashes are part of it. They come with the territory. They’re my battle scars. A little bit of my heart is in every one.”

Linc didn’t look as though he liked that answer, but when I turned toward Dean, he was nodding. Someone got me.

“I never really thought about all the injuries,” Linc replied.

“I’m fine, Red. I’ll always be fine.”

“We’re not talking about your looks, you know. I thought I was the cocky one in this relationship.”

“Oh, come on. You know that’s not true.” My eyes darted down toward my crotch and Linc’s did as well.

I should have known I couldn’t shake him, though. He just replied with, “Are we really talking about how big your dick is in your motocross interview?”

A cough jumped out of my mouth, and I began to choke. On what I didn’t know. Dean cracked up laughing, and Linc had a satisfied smile across his face, the fucker. “That doesn’t—”

“I know, I know. That doesn’t go in the interview,” Dean replied.

“Let’s walk the track,” I told them, and we did. Dean asked more questions, and I answered them all. There were a few more about my dad, but thankfully, he didn’t go too far into it for the moment. More was coming, I was sure, but at least for now I was spared.

When we got back to where we started, Dean put his notes into his messenger bag and told us he had enough for the day. “I can see myself out. I’ll send you a text to set up our next appointment?”

“Sure, sounds good.” When he began to walk away, I turned to Linc. “Do you wanna go into my garage with me? You can see my bikes and stuff.”

“Of course. I’ve always wanted to go into your garage with you. In fact, I don’t think there’s anything I’ve ever wanted more,” Linc teased, making me chuckle.

“You’re so mean to me. I’m going to make you love dirt bikes one way or another.” My fingers found his, and I gently pulled him toward the detached garage between my house and the track, where all my bikes were.

“I’m not mean to you. I’m dating you, aren’t I? That’s pretty nice. And it’s not that I don’t like dirt bikes. In fact, it’s hot as fuck to watch you ride. Oh God, and the gear. Especially the pants. Super fucking hot. Can we do that sometime? You can wear your moto pants and pretend you just got done racing. I like…attack you, but you quickly gain control, making me suck you off with the pants still on.”

“I think I just came in my jeans,” I joked.

“Oh my God. Me too. Why didn’t we ever think of motocross sex before? Maybe we can even do it over one of your bikes.”

Seriously, he was going to kill me. I was likely half in love with him already. “I’m definitely liking where this is going.”

I unlocked the door, pushed it open, and nodded for Linc to go inside, then hit the lights.

“Being serious for a moment…I have to admit it does scare me. I like the thought of you riding. It’s hot, but…it’s dangerous.” Linc had his back to me as he spoke, and I had a feeling that was on purpose.

“I can understand that. It’s a dangerous sport, but I love it. It’s what I do. I wouldn’t be me if dirt bikes weren’t in my life.”

“No, I know. And I would never want that for you. I just… Well, I thought if we’re going to be…” He glanced over his shoulder at me, so fucking sweetly, with pink cheeks, and said, “Boyfriends. I thought I should be honest with you.”

“You should definitely be honest with me. Always.”

Linc walked over to a counter covered in tools. He slipped behind it, and I followed, watching him explore my space.

“You’re a motocross driver…rider…whatever I’m supposed to say. You’re used to it. I’m used to seeing my friend Rush ride, but not my boyfriend Rush. I mean…if we’re even still together when you go back for outdoors, and oh my God, I’m rambling. What are you doing to me, Rush Alexander? I don’t ramble!”

I laughed, boxing him in against the counter, my good hand on the counter and my body against his. “I like boyfriend Lincoln.”
