Did he know that it would?
“What are you thinking about?”
“I’m thinking…it would make me smile to…”
His breath ghosts across my lips. “Put your legs around me?”
My face heats, along with other, more intimate parts of me. “I don’t want to get us thrown out of here.”
“Mandy, I’m a Boston Fire Department lieutenant.” He kisses me softly, pulling back to give me a cocky look. “They’re not throwing me out of anywhere.”
“You’re a lieutenant?” I squeak, drawing the attention of several people around us. “Sorry,” I say, lowering my voice to a whisper. “I just didn’t realize you had such a high rank.”
“I had to kill some time while I was waiting around for you, didn’t I?”
As we’re speaking in hushed tones, my body naturally turns to face Bobby and he helps, arranging my legs around his waist, tugging me closer until I can feel his erection against the juncture of my thighs. We both sigh unsteadily, as if it has been way too long since our bodies were touching the way we needed. “You don’t talk about your job very much,” I say, snuggling closer, inhaling the smoke and musk from his throat. “Why?”
“Honestly?” He lets out a breath and it rustles my hair. “Fire is dangerous. I’ve seen a lot of people lose their lives to it. Maybe I don’t want to mentally connect you to that in any way.” He smooths the back of my hair, a line appearing between his brows. “The house has been buzzing about the lieutenant’s girlfriend, though. Word really spread after I carried you out of the bar.”
“You really do have a habit of carrying me places.”
“Get used to it, gorgeous.”
I poke him in the shoulder. He retaliates by yanking my hips more flush to his lap and I have to bury my open mouth in his neck to muffle my moan. He’s so hard.
“All the guys at my house want to meet you. I told them to keep dreaming.”
“Why?”
His hands tighten on both sides of my bottom, massaging, rocking me forward. “They see the way I run out of the station after my shift. They know I’m getting it hot and frequent at home. My men are curious. Competitive. They might shake your hand and be polite when I introduce you, but they’ll be thinking about what it’s like to fuck my girl. They’ll be wondering what it is about your pussy that makes it hard for me to concentrate on the job. I’ll see that curiosity in their eyes and I’ll have to kill them.”
I’m panting into his neck by the time he finishes his explanation.
“My God, Mandy,” he growls. “You’re soaking straight through my jeans.”
“I…I…”
“What part of that turned you on?”
My face is the color of a tomato, surely. “W-well, the other night in the library, I…”
“What? You don’t keep anything from me. Especially if it’s about what you need in my bed.”
“Okay.” I hide my face in his collarbone, ordering myself to work up some courage. “Last night in the library…I liked that boy seeing what you were doing to me. I liked someone else seeing how good I make you feel. It made me feel…coveted. Is that weird?”
“No.” He kisses my temple, my hairline. “Nothing about you is weird. You’re perfect.” He’s silent for several moments, but before I can go deeper into my explanation, Bobby stands and carries me out of the church. “Maybe we’ll take a trip to the firehouse, after all.”

Bobby
My sweet, nerdy little exhibitionist.
Makes sense, doesn’t it? Loves to be praised. Loves earning the admiration of her teachers in front of the class. Loves putting her thighs around me in public.
I would have figured it out eventually, but thank God I stumbled upon this little kink of hers. So I can cater to it. Fulfill it. Addict her to it—and me. Forever.
I’ll admit, tonight is not going to be the easiest thing in the world for me. The only man I ever want around her is me—period—and that goes for bystanders. That goes for priests and married men and frat boys alike. No man on this earth will ever lay a finger on Mandy. End of story. She doesn’t want that, either.
But tonight, we just might have to let a few of them listen to her scream.
For the greater good.
I settle Mandy onto her feet outside of the station, take off my jacket and wrap it around her shoulders, buttoning it up to her chin. Then I take that chin between my fingers and tilt it up, making sure she sees that I’m dead serious. “Stand next to me at all times.”
“I will.”
It’s easy to see that she’s excited. She knows what’s going to happen. Otherwise, it would be too much of a coincidence that I brought her here after what she told me.
But she doesn’t know that I’m going to use it to bring her home.
