The air is still again, and my cheeks flame because what was I thinking? This is the worst decision I’ve ever made, and I rue the moment I texted 9-1-1 to Brad’s phone. God, if only I could re-wind the clock by half an hour. Why was I so impulsive?

I steal a peek upwards, and unfortunately, all three men have impassive expressions on their proud features. I don’t blame them. Hell, if they wanted to scream and pound the walls while hurling invectives, I wouldn’t blame them. But instead, Casey lets out a big exhale, like he’s been holding his breath underwater.

“So be straight with us, Carrie: why would hooking up with us spark this other man’s interest?”

I’m practically sobbing now.

“It’s because I saw him getting naughty with two prostitutes, so I figured he’s into naughty girls. And I wanted to prove that I’m one of those bad girls! I wanted to show that I’m fully able to be triple-X on demand, so I figured if he saw me hooking up with you guys, then that would do the trick.”

The men squint at me.

“But is he even a member of Club Z? Do we know him?”

I nod.

“He is, but that’s the thing. I didn’t even know if he was a member of Club Z when I set out to get you guys. That’s how poorly planned this was. I was just trying to recruit three men that I could have a gangbang with, and I didn’t think anything through. In fact, I don’t know what I was thinking,” I wail. “This has all been a huge mistake.”

Casey’s black brows lower into a glower.

“Who is he?” he rasps. “Maybe we know this fucker.”

I wipe at my tears, sniffling pathetically.

“His name is Bruce Chapman. He’s a friend of a friend, and I met him at a dinner party about six months ago. I thought we had a connection, but now I realize that it was nothing. He’s a loser in fact, and I was really turned off when we finally went out tonight.”

The air in the apartment sizzles with electricity then.

“You went out with another man?” Brad asks in a low tone, his voice dangerous. “I thought you said he only asked you out.”

I shrug helplessly.

“He asked me out, and I went. But it was nothing, I swear! Like I said, we just talked, and … well, he’s no one,” I sniffle. “It was just drinks, and I left after twenty minutes and came straight here. It’s because I want to date you guys,” I sniffle again, hating myself for being so pathetic. Who knew it could be so difficult to bare your soul? But here I am, declaring myself and I have to say that it’s not going well in the slightest.

The men are silent for a moment, exchanging looks, but then the tension lessens somewhat.

“Bruce Chapman?” Casey muses, still exchanging looks with his friend. “From Dissidence Corporation?”

I nod, wiping at my cheeks again.

“Yeah, my friend Ramona is married to the head of Dissidence, and I guess Bruce is the CFO or something like that.”

Brad snorts then.

“Some CFO he is. Honey, you have nothing to worry about because Bruce Chapman has no idea what the fuck he’s doing. We’ve been suing both the company and him individually for a number of different violations. You’d be surprised at the crimes some folks think they’re going to get away with.”

I start then, flummoxed.

“Are you serious? For what though? I thought Bruce was a high-level executive.”

James smirks.

“He is, which is exactly why he’s named in our lawsuits. That place is so mismanaged it’s fucking unbelievable. It’s time the shareholders took action, and they’re going to take their pound of flesh, believe me. With Rose Law Firm’s help of course. Hopefully, we’ll get hefty settlements in this case somewhere in the realm of eight-figures.”

I stare.

“So Bruce Chapman is persona non grata to you guys?” I ask in a slow voice.

“He’s not persona non grata,” Casey says in a casual tone. “He’s just an idiot, that’s all. My understanding is that the CEO is a capable leader, but for some reason, he’s been asleep at the wheel. As a result, Bruce has been running Dissidence into the ground, and the company’s going to be taken to the cleaners.”

“Oh no, I better tell Ramona,” I gasp. “She has no idea, I’m sure.”

The men shrug.

“There’s likely nothing your friend can do about it. The lawsuits have already begun, and at this point, everything’s in the past tense. Bruce is going to lose his job, not to mention his fortune. All of that is going to disappear by the time we’re through with him, you can count on that.”

I gasp, startled by this new knowledge.

“Does he know though?”

Casey lets out a harsh grunt before smiling almost maliciously.

“Fuck yeah, he knows, and he hates our guts because of it. If he could shit on Rose Law, then he would by any means necessary. You have nothing to worry about, sweetheart, because I doubt your date tonight had anything to do with you. More likely, it had everything to do with Chapman’s ego, and I’d forget about it. Not that we don’t appreciate your confession of course,” Casey adds quickly. “That was very brave of you.”
