"Sure," he says, leaning back in the seat and making himself comfortable. "You can use mine."

"That would definitely be a conflict of interest, and I'm fairly sure anyone working for you is outside of my budget."

"Damn. Guess you'll just have to rely on my honesty, then."

"That's like relying on a dinosaur not to eat me," I mutter.

His smile widens, his dark eyes glinting with amusement, then he playfully gnashes his teeth.

"See?" I shake my head. "Cannot be trusted."

"If the worst thing I do to you is eat you, then I don't know what you have to complain about."

My face heats as soon as I realize the double entendre in what we're talking about, and he laughs.

"Better watch that pretty mouth around me, farm girl," he says, still amused. "You might give me ideas, and I assure you, I have enough of my own."

"I am not interested in any of your ideas."

"And I'm not interested in your denial," he shoots back.

"That makes one of us disinterested in something and one of us a criminal," I inform him.

"Are you attracted to criminals?"

"No."

"Damn. Well, I'm only technically a criminal if I get caught, right?"

"You and your technicalities." He scoots closer on the seat, and I scoot away. "Besides," I say, trying to buy myself some time since there’s only so much space to run away. "You don't seem to care whether or not I'm attracted to you. You seem intent on forcing yourself on me either way."

"I already know you're attracted to me," says the cocky bastard.

"Whatever you have to tell yourself."

He smiles as he reaches out and grabs my neck, causing my heart to hammer and my breath to catch. "I don't have to tell myself anything, pretty girl. I want you, so I'll have you. It's that simple. I won't lose a blink of sleep."

I should knee him right in the groin, but my body won't cooperate. With his hands on me, all my muscles have turned to jelly. A scream I can't release is stuck in my throat. I want to call out for help, but I don't even know if Hugh can hear me, and if he can, I have a hunch he still won't intervene.

"Silvan," I whisper, my voice softening from the surge of fear and vulnerability.

"Yes, baby?"

A shiver dances down my spine at the tenderness in his words despite the brutality of his hold on my throat. "Please don't hurt me."

"No," he murmurs reassuringly as he leans close and kisses the corner of my mouth. "I won't hurt you."

He's hurting me now by doing this to me, but he doesn't seem to get that.

Or maybe he does, and he just doesn't care.

Whatever the case, I have to placate him. He's bigger and stronger than me. Physically, I'm no match for him and I know he can overpower me easily. Dylan was shorter and far less muscular than Silvan, and he managed it.

For him it was at least a struggle to control me, but for Silvan, I'm not sure it would be.

His green eyes are dark with desire when I meet his gaze. Whatever he sees in mine pleases him, and he rewards me by caressing my face in a reassuring manner.

It feels nice, but it's a lie, so I'm not reassured.

Slowly, deliberately, he brings his face closer to mine and kisses me.

I try to pull away, but the only place to go is back against the seat. I panic when he pushes me back while he kisses me, slickly maneuvering himself between my thighs as he does.

My heart races because now I'm on my back on the seat of the car and he's on top of me, between my legs. "Silvan, please..."

"Sh," he murmurs soothingly, kissing my lips. "You're okay, baby."

"No." I push at his chest, panic gathering in mine, but he's immovable. "Please get off me. I just want to go home."

"We're on the way now," he tells me. His fingers slide through my hair as he cradles my skull to keep a firm hold on me. "I'm glad your hair's down tonight. I want to feel it in my hands while I'm fucking you."

That confirmation of his intentions sucks the breath from my lungs. My brain whites out for a moment, panic buzzing in my ears.

"Help," I shout loudly. "Hugh, please—”

Silvan’s hand clamps down over my mouth, hard. He doesn’t look worried, just annoyed as he leans down. “Now, now. If you’re going to be a bad girl, I’m going to treat you like one.”

My eyes widen in alarm. I’m not sure what that entails, but I can't imagine it's good.

"Should I do that, Sophie? Hm? I can silence this pretty little mouth with a gag. I can tie you up so you really can't move and take you somewhere no one will ever find you. I can keep you there for as long as I want to, do whatever I want to you, and you'll be entirely at my mercy. Entirely mine."
