He nudges Luna over before pulling me onto his lap. I love the feel of his strong thighs underneath me and his sexy arms surrounding me. He feeds me slowly, encouraging me to drink plenty of water.

When I’m done, I snuggle into his chest and put my lips against his neck. He’s always so warm and solid. His pulse speeds up beneath my kiss and it makes me smile. He’s my man, and I’m turning him on.

“Brooke,” he calls my name in a ragged tone. “Not tonight. You’ve already been through hell.”

I cup his face and stare up into his gaze. There’s so much guilt and regret in it. With a start, I realize we both need to be soothed. I may have been the one that was hurt but today will leave scars on both of us. “That’s why I need this.”

He presses his forehead against mine. “Are you sure, angel?”

“Help me forget.” I lean back and tug off my top, liking the way his eyes darken when he zeroes in on my lacy bra. There’s something about the way he looks at me when I’m naked. It makes me feel like the most powerful woman in the world.

He reaches for the clasp of my bra, helping me to shrug out of it. Then he’s trailing kisses along my neck and down the valley of my chest.

“Beautiful,” he murmurs before he pulls my nipple into his mouth.

I run my fingers through his short, spiky hair and arch into him as my panties grow damp. I love the feeling of his mouth and his tongue as he lavishes me with attention. He’s the one person that can make me forget all the bad in the world. When I’m with him, there’s only the two of us and the feeling of tenderness that swells in my chest.

I scrape my fingernails against his scalp when he sinks his teeth into my sensitive nub. The move makes him growl and within seconds, I’m flipped flat on my back on the couch. He hovers me, something possessive glittering in his gaze.

His hand is behind my head, cupping me. He was protecting me. He’s always protecting me. My gaze grows misty at the thought. After years of being scared and alone, I have a warrior to stand with me.

“Brooke,” he groans and wipes away a tear with his thumb.

“I’m happy.” I sniff and try to give him a smile. It’s probably a watery one. But I can’t help it. “You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. I’ve been in love with you since I was eighteen, and now you’re finally here with me.”

“Fuck, tigress. I knew at the party I wanted you. It took every bit of restraint I had not to carry you away with me. Then you show up in my life and you’re fuckin’ perfect, giving me your body and your love. You’re an angel I don’t deserve.”

His words only make my tears come faster. “I’m no angel. I’ve witnessed horrible things, done horrible things. I’m just as bad as he is. As all of them.”

“You listen to me. You are amazing. You got dealt a shit hand growing up, but you found the will to survive. You aren’t one of them. You’re good and pure and noble. Your strength inspires me. Your courage astounds me. Your love humbles me. I’m the luckiest man on earth and I plan to spend every day of the rest of our lives, reminding you just how incredible you are.”

I don’t know what I did to get a man this amazing, who cares for me so tenderly and builds me up every chance he gets. I hook my legs around his waist. “Then make love to me.”

He helps me out of my pants and undresses himself quickly. Then he’s pushing inside of me. The moment he fills me, we both let out a soft sigh.

“Home,” I whisper.

“Home,” he repeats as he begins to thrust. He plays with my clit, bringing me to the edge and making sure I come before he follows me with his own release.

When he pulls out, he dips his fingers in his come and rubs it into the skin of my thighs. “I want you going to bed tonight with my smell all over you.”

I smile at him as I fight a yawn. My warrior is a dirty man, and I have a lifetime to look forward to with him by my side.

EPILOGUE

RYKER

“I still don’t see it,” Brody says as he stares at the black and white image.

I don’t either, but Colt is excited. We’re staring at a picture of his wife’s sonogram.

“It’s right there,” he insists, pointing to an indistinctive blob in the print-out. It’s been four months since the three of us charged in and rescued Brooke from her stepbrothers. Since then, life has only gotten better with each passing day.
