Grace

It wasn’t hard for me to walk away from my family without looking back—the time had come for me to live for myself.
New city. New job.
My new boss? He’s gorgeous.
It’s too bad that handsome face is wasted on such a condescending prick.
He hates me, and the feeling is mutual.
The only reason he may not be the literal devil is because he’s a devoted single dad, making it clear Caine is, in fact, capable of human emotion.

Caine

I’m good at two things:
1. Raising my daughter to be strong and independent.
2. My job.
When my new assistant walks into the office, I become good at ignoring her. She’s sassy. Smart. Beautiful.
Much younger and off-limits for more reasons than I can count.
That doesn’t mean I want her any less.
She hates me—but as each day goes by, it’s harder and harder to remember why I hate her too.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

prologue

Dearest Love,

Boy, has love been busy.

Every single time I turn around, I see two people falling in love.

It’s amazing and magnificent.

Unless you are Grace and Caine, who think their time for love has come and gone.

He’s a divorced father.

She’s just starting to live her life.

And they just found out they will be working together.

Can they survive without killing each other?

Only time will tell.

XOXO

Love NM

one

Grace

“This is it,” I tell myself as I press the button to turn the car off before grabbing my keys and pulling the handle to open the door. The hot, humid air hits me right away as I put one foot down on the gravel and dust on the side of the road.

I slip my phone into the back pocket of my jean shorts as I turn to look at the house where I spent so much of my childhood. Scratch that, it’s the house where all of us spent most of our childhoods. It was like the foundation of our lives. The thought makes my heart squeeze just a touch, but I push it away. I smile when I look toward the back of the house, where I see the big fields. The sound of kids running and screaming fills the air. People stand around in groups talking to each other. The smell of the barbecue hits my nose as I make my way from the front of my house to the back.

As soon as I round the corner, I see there might be over a hundred people here today, which is the normal every Sunday lunch at my great-grandparents’ farm. It started with just the family, and then the workers were invited, which then led to anyone who was in town and had nothing to do could come on over and have a place to be.

I spot my cousins sitting around a white plastic table, laughing at something that one of them said. I quickly do a scan of the yard, knowing the first people I have to go say hello to are my great-grandparents, who sit at another round table talking to a couple of friends of theirs. My great-grandmother Charlotte sits beside my great-grandfather Billy, who always has his arm draped around her chair. I even know his thumb caresses her shoulder. His cowboy hat sits on his head. In all my twenty-four years, I’ve seen him without his hat maybe two times, three at most.

I zigzag through the people, smiling as I make my way toward the table. “Hi,” I greet them when I get close enough. My great-grandmother looks up at me, her light-green eyes lighting up even more when she sees me.

She puts her hands together before holding them up for me to bend and give her a kiss. “Sweetheart.” She calls me by my nickname, but truth be told, all the girls are called sweetheart. My cousin Audrey says it’s because there are so many of us, and she can’t keep up anymore. “You came.”

“Of course, I came.” I lean down to hug her and kiss her on the cheek. “Wouldn’t miss this on my last day.” I smile at her as I see the tears form in her eyes. “No crying.” My voice is tight as I blink away the tears starting to form.

“Come here, girl,” my great-grandfather says, and I walk around to his side of the chair. He holds out his hand to me, and I grab it. This same hand held mine when I said I was ready to ride the horse by myself, but shocking, I was wrong. He knew even then, and instead of just leaving me, he held it like a vise. “You going to ride Daisy Bean before you leave?” He asks me about my horse.

“Yup,” I answer, looking around for my dad. “I promised Dad I would go on one more ride before I leave town and ship out to war.” I wink at him as he laughs.
From Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a small town, best friends to lovers, fake marriage, and forced proximity romance.

When your best friend asks you for the biggest favor of her life.

EVA
Things were finally looking up for me.
I was my own boss; I owned my own house—
and I recently was contacted by an older sister I didn’t know I had.
Everything was perfect…until tragedy struck.
All the things that had come into my life were suddenly gone—except for one thing: my niece.

LEVI
I was a confirmed bachelor.
I was married to my work and committed to nothing more.
No woman was going to change that.
Eva is my best friend and needed a life-changing favor:
Marry her so she could gain custody of her niece.
A marriage of convenience that would only last a year, tops.
But there were stipulations we hadn’t planned on.
Things got blurry—lines got crossed.
I would honor my commitment…I just hope I can walk away.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue
NM

Chapter One

Eva

I step out of the bathroom in my office, tucking the white T-shirt into the blue jeans I just slid on. The crash of the waves hitting the rocks fills my room, giving you a nice Zen feeling. If it isn’t waves playing in the background, it is the lull of the soft instruments. I make my way over to my desk at the same time my phone beeps on top of it. Looking down at my phone, I see I have a text from Levi.

Levi: Running a touch late, max five to ten minutes. Order me a beer.

I shake my head and roll my eyes at the same time, not surprised at all by this text. “Shocking,” I mumble to myself before picking the phone up as I slide one foot into my nude, sky-high shoes, then the other, until my feet pinch from being in the shoes.

Me: When am I ever not waiting for you?

I press send before tossing the phone into the purse that is on my chair. Levi and I have been friends for the past ten years, I met him through my cousin, who I had no idea I even had, also ten years ago. Needless to say, Levi and I, we just clicked. We had the same humor and found each other annoying, but not so annoyed we didn’t always text the other person. Either way, our friendship just grew and grew. He is one of, if not, my very best friend. There is nothing I can’t say and vice versa. Trust me, nothing is off-limits between us. The two of us get together at least once a week, if he’s not traveling for work, or every two weeks just to catch up. It was something we started after we went a whole month without seeing each other and we spent four hours catching up, and that was only for one week.

I walk over to one of the pink cushioned chairs facing my desk, picking up my long, black sweater. I slide my arms into it and push the sleeves up to my elbows. Turning toward the mirror that hangs by the door, I take one long look at myself before I head out to meet him.

My tight, light-blue jeans mold my legs with a white V-neck T-shirt. Simple, casual, and with the red-bottom shoes, a little bit classy and very, very sassy. Very different from how I walked into the salon this morning, wearing the black-pants-and-top uniform everyone wears in my business, with the name of the salon stitched on the right side. I tuck the right side of my brown hair behind my ear and see the wave I did this morning quickly after I walked in, is still holding up. “It pays to own your place.” I smile to myself. Leaning forward, I see that the makeup is still lasting, even after eight hours of being at work. “The tricks you learn from your trade.” I smirk as I take a big inhale before I grab my bag off the chair and head out of my office, closing the door behind me. The door to my left is open and some of the washers are going in the laundry room. I stick my head in to see if anyone is there, but it’s empty.

To my right, the lights in the hallway to the men’s and women’s bathrooms are dim, and music plays softly in the background.

As I walk down the hallway to the front of the salon, the music gets louder and is very different from the back. It’s today’s hits and it’s upbeat. Even the lights are different from the spa area, where it’s dimly lit in the back. Here in the front, it’s like the more lights the better.

My shoes clicking on the tile floor fill the empty room as I look around to see all six hairdressing seats empty, my reflection following with me as I walk through the room. I hear voices coming from the color area and stop to stick my head in when I see Keira and Chloe are both in there, cleaning up after the day. “See you two tomorrow.” I smile at them as I wave with the tips of my fingers. I pass by the men’s hair station, seeing Saverio and Isabelle both sweeping their stations. Black leather barber chairs face full-length mirrors. “Night, guys,” I say and they both look up and smile.

Well, well, well, what can I say.

Two universes are about to meet again.

Five years later.

Just this time there is more than the two of them.

How will Stefano react when he sees Avery?

How will Addison react to them co-parenting?

How will the family react?

Only time will tell.

XOXO

Love NM

addison

“What do you mean she fell?” I ask with my teeth clenched, one step away from a total panic attack.

“I mean, she drank a little bit too much sweet tea and she fell,” Zara says from the other end, trying not to laugh but laughing still the same. “It will be fine. We’ll take care of it.” Zara, the future groom Mathew’s aunt, was supposed to be taking care of things.

“Where is Ingrid?” I look over my shoulder to make sure no one sees me panic. “Can I talk to her?” Ingrid was in charge of serving drinks and food in the bridal suite, something we should have not been doing from the sounds coming through the phone. The bridal suite where they were supposed to be resting and waiting until the bride was ready. I can confirm they were not in fact resting and waiting.

I hear yelling from the other end of the phone, some giggles, well, lots of giggling, and then Ingrid comes on the line. “Hello.” She sounds like she’s one step away from losing it.

“There will be no more drinking,” I order. “It’s coffee and water and get them some food.”

“On it,” she replies and then quickly hangs up.

“She’s coming,” someone says, and then I turn to watch. I can hear myself breathing heavily but try to do it as silently as I can, which is proving to be harder than I thought. My heart is beating a million times a second, if that is even possible. I have never in my life been this nervous. Well, that isn’t exactly true. There have been other moments. Monumental moments, actually.

I can count on one hand when my life undertook a major change. One was the time I had my first ever one-night stand. The second was when I found out I was pregnant from said one-night stand. The third was being cut off from my whole family and giving birth alone. The fourth was getting this job, and now the fifth is them giving me the reins for this wedding.

I swear to God, I can feel the drops of sweat pouring off me as my hands shake. I look over at Clarabella, Presley, and Shelby—the four of us are hidden in the middle of a forest, waiting for the surprise proposal to happen. We all know Sofia is going to say yes; she’s been in love with Matty since they went to college together. Sure, they had a break between and he did get engaged to someone else, but that led them to be together again. I mean, it’s not every day your wedding planner is the ex-love of your life. It’s also not every day, you leave your fiancée for your wedding planner once you realize you’ve been in love with her and only her your whole life.

“The wait is killing me,” I whisper to Clarabella, who stands beside me. Shelby stands on the other side of Clarabella next to Presley. The three of them have the biggest and most prestigious event-planning business. They originally started out just doing weddings and then slowly started adding in corporate events. That took off so much, they have recently decided Clarabella, Shelby, and Presley would take care of the corporate side of the company, leaving Sofia to handle the wedding side. The first thing she did was officially place me as a junior event planner. I have been working under her to make sure I would be ready. News flash, I was not ready. I mean maybe I was, but I was definitely not ready for today.
When two worlds crossover. From the This Is Series and The Southern Series.

Things are supposed to go smoothly on your wedding day.
Aren't they?

Sofia Barnes
I’ve always loved to play dress-up.
Creating fake weddings was my childhood pastime.
Now it is my dream come true.

I’ve finally been handed my first client.
But nothing could prepare me for who greeted me when I walked in.

He was my first kiss, my first everything, including my first and only heartbreak.
Now I have to plan his wedding.

Matthew Petrov
My family is filled with hockey royalty.
From my grandfather to my uncle to my father.
Now it is my turn to work my way up the leaderboard.
I had everything that I’ve ever wanted in my life.
Or so I thought.
Nothing could prepare me for coming face-to-face with Sofia.
I knew her inside and out.
She knew my inner secrets.
Two years ago, I let her go, and now she’s planning my wedding to someone else.
They say time heals old wounds. They lied.
Maybe she was just mine to take.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

prologue

Dearest Love,

It’s that time again…

Wedding season.

The best season of the year.

Sofia has taken over.

The stars have aligned, and it looks like not only is her first love back in her life, but she has to plan his wedding.

Will he walk down the aisle?

Who will be the bride?

You know what they say.

Only time will tell

XOXO NM

sofia

I jump when the alarm starts blaring from the island behind me. The milk I was pouring into my coffee cup is spilled on the side. I put the frother down at the same time the blaring of the alarm gets louder and louder as the seconds tick by. “I’m coming, I’m coming!” I shout to the alarm, which at this point is so loud I’m about to cover my ears like my baby cousins do when I squeal out that I love them so much.

I press snooze by mistake. “Dammit,” I say, grabbing my phone and walking back to the sink. Turning on the warm water, I wet a cloth before cleaning up the spilled milk. “I think this is good luck,” I mumble to myself before rinsing the cloth off and returning back to the coffee. I grab the cup and bring it to my lips, smelling the aroma of coffee fill my nose makes me smile right before I take a sip. “That’s like little pieces of heaven,” I whisper before walking back up the stairs toward my bedroom.

When I get to the landing, I look over the railing that lets you see down into the great room. This house is massive, way too big for me, but try telling my grandfather that. The house was bought, and security was installed before I saw it. “Don’t argue with me,” he said softly, “I’m old.” Which made me snort-laugh. My grandfather is a lot of things, but old and delicate aren’t any of them. If you looked up Southern gentleman in the dictionary, there would be a picture of him.

I shake my head thinking of the last time we had the conversation, missing him just a touch more today. As I make my way toward my bedroom, I walk down the hallway. I look at all the pictures I lined up on the wall of my family. The middle picture on the wall is the whole family. It took some hours to rein everyone in, then about a hundred pictures to get the picture. My great-grandparents stand in the middle while everyone is around them. Around that picture is a picture of me with my parents taken at graduation day. My father with his arm around me, pulling me closer to him as he looks at my mother with all the love I’ve always seen in his eyes. It’s right next to the first picture we ever took together. I’m sitting on the horse with him behind me, his shirt is off, and he’s got his arms wrapped around me. From the story they told me, my parents shared one night together before my father joined the military. Wires got crossed, and he found out about me the first time we met. Even in the picture, we have the same smirk. From that day on, he made sure I knew how much he would have changed the past. I smile when I think about him, sending him a text.

Just sending you a message to say I love you, Dad.

I walk into the two open French doors and go straight to the bed. Turning on the television that faces the bed, the soft light fills the darkened room as I watch the news before turning on the Investigative Discovery Channel. I’m in love with my bed, something my grandmother, Olivia, set up for me. The whole house actually has her stamp of approval. I want to say I helped pick the things in my house, but I didn’t, she did it all. It’s not because I didn’t want to, it’s more that I know how much she loves this stuff. Literally, the whole family just lets her do things because it makes her happy. My grandfather let her style one of their homes in all white. They even call it the White House, and no one wants to stay in it.

The phone rings, and I pick it up, smiling again when I see it’s my dad. “Hello.”

“Hello, Sunshine.” He calls me by my nickname like he always does. “Why are you up so early?”

“It’s not early.” I look down and see that it’s six ten. “Okay, fine, maybe it’s a bit early.” I bring the cup of coffee to my lips. “But the first day on the job is a big deal.”

“It is,” he agrees, and I hear the truck door close on his side of the phone. “You’ve been dreaming about this since you were seven, and Grandma Olivia bought you a mini wedding dress.”
Presley
After my sisters’ disastrous weddings, I’m never going to get married.
I’ll just stay single forever.
It doesn’t matter that I’m in love with my brother’s best friend.
Or that Bennett and I shouldn’t even be friends with benefits.
Until the positive sign tells me I’m pregnant.

Bennett
I fell in love with Presley when she was eighteen and asked me for a favor.
She didn’t want to go to college a virgin.
I said no, but she kissed me, and I was lost in her.
Years later, I’ll take her with any rules she gives me.
She thinks this is just a fling. She’s wrong.
Because she’s always been mine to love.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Presley

I tap the steering wheel with my perfectly manicured nail as I sing along to the song blasting from the radio when I pull up to the office. I park my car next to my sisters’, then grab my iced latte and my new Yves St. Laurent bag. Putting my purse under my arm, I shut the door and take a look around, seeing the flowers starting to bloom on the trees. When my sisters and I decided to go into business together, we got the idea from our mom and aunt, who ran a small wedding planning business. But the three of us didn't just want to plan weddings. No, we wanted to be the best event planners in the business, and with that came the idea to build our own event space. We bought a huge piece of land and slowly built it up.

Our main offices were in a nice little bungalow we built with three offices upstairs where the bedrooms would be, and the downstairs was a little setup of things we have done along with pictures from all our events. I look off toward the right and see the food truck as well. The main thing that took the longest to build was the actual event building.

It looks like a barn from the outside, but once you get inside, you’ll find rustic wooden floors and exposed wooden beams that can be dressed up. It can fit up to five hundred and fifty people. Right behind the barn is a kitchen where the caterers can set up.

I smile, turning and making my way up the stairs. The sound of my heels on the concrete steps echoes in the quietness of the morning.

I grab the door handle, pull it open, and step in. The cold air hits me right away. Stepping in, I see Clarabella and Shelby standing in the waiting area. I take a big inhale. "You know what that smells like?" I smile, looking at both of them. They stand in front of me. Clarabella in blue pants and a white top. Shelby in white jeans and a silk pink tank top.

"Like you've had sex?" Clarabella says, looking at me. I glare at her, but she can't see since my black sunglasses hide my eyes. She brings her cup of coffee to her lips, trying to hide the smile behind it, but her blue eyes squint.

"No, asshole," I say, "it smells like wedding season."

"It smelled like cow shit when I drove up today," Shelby complains, her face grimaced. "But I guess I should see the glass half full."

"Oh, come on," I urge, lifting my glasses on top of my head. "It's sunny and beautiful outside." I point at the open shade as the sun shines into the office. "It's going to be a great day."

"I don't like this, Presley." Clarabella points at me. "Ever since you got into the Zen shit, it's like I don't even know who you are."

"It's not about being Zen. It's about looking for the good in the day," I say, walking down the hallway toward my office. I pass Shelby's and Clarabella's offices. Mine is all the way in the back with all the windows.

"I blame you," Clarabella accuses. I look over my shoulder as she glares at Shelby, who just stands there with her mouth open.

"Why me?" she shrieks and points at her chest.

"You got her that eat, pray, love bullshit diary," Clarabella says, shaking her head and turning to follow me into my office. "Tell me five things that made you smile today," she mimics one of the questions in the book. "Take a minute to tell us what went wrong but, in the end, didn't change the outcome." I chuckle at her as I walk around my desk, putting my iced coffee down on the coaster before walking over to the blinds and opening them to let the sun shine in.

"I got you the same one," Shelby points out. "And you stayed normal." They both walk into my office, going over to sit on the white loveseat I have against the wall that faces my desk.

"It has to be the sex, then." Clarabella looks at me, and I pinch my eyebrows together, admitting nothing. Trying to portray the cool collectiveness that I'm attempting to channel.
From bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a small town, enemies to lovers second chance romance.

Things are supposed to go smoothly on your wedding day.
Aren’t they?

Clarabella: Did I want to get married today?
It’s hard to say when he proposed in front of over a hundred people.
Everything happened so fast, and I thought it was just nerves.
It was not.
The knock on the door showed me that what I was feeling was more than just cold feet.
I was a runaway bride.

Luke: The whole town was busy attending her wedding.
She was the one I let get away when I told her our night together was a mistake and then left town.
So I planned to spend the weekend getting drunk.
When she ran out of the church looking for a hideout, I opened the car door for her.
My cabin has one bed, and my longing looks don’t mix well.
Somehow, I have to keep my heart intact and her reputation together.
Maybe she was just mine to cherish.

FULL BOOK START HERE:

Chapter 1

Clarabella

"This is stupid," I say when the car door opens. I feel someone grab my hand as she helps me get out of the car with a blindfold over my eyes.

"It's not stupid," Shelby, my sister, hisses, holding my elbow and guiding me down the pathway to the front door of our venue space.

"It's supposed to be a surprise," Presley, my other sister, says, and all I can do is laugh and secretly start to get hives. If there is one thing I hate, it's being surprised. Like, if I didn't know about this surprise, I would more than likely turn around and hightail it out of here.

"I helped plan it, for heaven's sake," I whisper but not really at them. The clicking of our heels fills the night air.

"Well, no one is supposed to know about that,” Shelby says. "But God forbid you let go of control for once in your life."

I stop walking and look over to where her voice was coming from, even though I still see black. "I didn't want this stupid party to begin with. I wanted dinner and maybe some drinks." I stop talking. "Okay, maybe a lot of drinks. But nowhere did I want a freaking party!"

"Well, tell that to Edward,” Presley says of my boyfriend of the past two months. "He's the one who wanted this."

I grit my teeth together. "Why would you even entertain this ridiculous idea from him?" I shake my head. "Out of everyone else, you two should know better." I turn, but I'm still blindfolded, so who knows if I'm actually looking at them or not. I’m pointing at what I hope is one of them. "I'm very disappointed in you."

I can hear them snickering. "Good to know. Now lift your feet,” Shelby says, and I know we've made it to the four steps. I huff out as my heart speeds up a notch after each step toward the front door.

"Just remember,” Presley adds, opening the door for me, “we tried."

"I don't even know what that means." I'm pushed forward, and the blindfold comes off. I blink away the darkness, and all I see are bright lights until the focus comes to me.

"Surprise!" everyone yells, and I stand here stunned. This is not what I planned at all. My simple dinner party for twenty-five was no more.

It looks like my whole family is here, and as I look around the room, I see Travis, my brother, and his wife, Harlow, standing at the side, rolling their lips while trying not to laugh at me. Harlow's hand comes up to her mouth as she whispers, “Sorry,” to me.

If I didn't have so many eyes on me, I would whisper back, "You are dead to me.”

"Oh my God," I say, putting my hand to my mouth when I see Edward coming to me, clapping his hands with a huge smile on his face. His blond hair is pushed back perfectly as he wears a tailored black suit and a white button-down shirt. My mother is right behind him with her hands in the air and a huge smile on her face as if she won the lottery.

"Happy birthday!" He grabs my face and kisses me on the lips, then brings me in for a hug. My whole body is as stiff as a board, and I push back the anger bubbling over. His blue eyes shine so brightly as he smiles at me. "Are you surprised?" I can't say anything, or better yet, it's safer if I don't say anything. Instead, I just nod my head. "We have one more surprise for you." When he says that, my blood starts to boil, and I have to wonder if this is how the Hulk feels before he turns green and rips off his clothes. "She's stunned," he says, turning around to address the crowd that has now gathered even closer. I try to count the faces, but it stops after twenty.
So much has happened since we last spoke. Travis and Harlow got married and could not be happier.
But it's that time again. The wedding season, when everyone is finding their best outfits to be worn.

Shelby will soon be walking down the aisle. Or will she?

It seems a pesky little email was sent to her the night before her wedding. A sort of declaration of love. Some would swoon, except was she the intended woman?

Will they get their happily ever after, or was she always meant for someone else?

Time will tell!

XOXO

NM

Chapter 1

Shelby

"Happy day before your wedding day!" Clarabella shouts as she comes into my office with her hands in the air, one of them with a clipboard and the other with her phone. "You look so pretty." She takes me in as I stand in front of the mirror in another new outfit I bought for the day.

"You don't think it's too much?” Looking back into the mirror, I smooth down the dress. "Should I have had it in white instead?" The dress is a blush pink and has a sweetheart neckline with small cap sleeves attached to the dress, all ruffled. A ruffled piece goes down the middle of my chest, showing off my boobs and then to the side, and zigzags back until the floor. The slit in the front shows off my legs that I've been working out to get for the past six months.

"I don't know about that," Presley says, coming in right behind Clarabella. "But your body is banging." She shakes her head. "All that work in the gym, and you went with a Cinderella-style dress. Pity."

"Hey," Clarabella snaps at her. "No negative talk on the day before the wedding." She glares at Presley, who just shrugs her shoulders.

"Are you ready to go over the last-minute list?" Presley asks, and I nod my head.

"This I can do," I mumble to them, walking over to my desk to grab my list. I ignore the way my stomach flip-flops all over the place. "It's probably going to calm me down." I pull out the big white chair from in front of my white desk and sit down. My hands shake just a touch, and I look up to see if my sisters noticed but find them looking down at their phones doing something. They are dressed in pantsuits, one is a light yellow, and the other is a light blue. If I wasn't the bride, I would probably be wearing the same thing as them.

My desk is perfectly organized, with the middle of the desk clear with just one folder on it, and it's the one for this weekend. A picture of Joseph and me taken when he proposed to me is on the side of my desk right next to my computer screen. Another photo is of my sisters and me when we officially opened our wedding service, Happily Ever After. "Are we going to start?" I look over at them, and they look up from their phones.

"This is going to be amazing," Clarabella says, coming over and sitting on one of the two white chairs that face my desk. "Wedding of the decade."

"I mean, let's be honest, it’s going to be a lot better than Travis's first wedding." Presley sits in the chair next to Clarabella. "We've already set the bar higher on that one with the kitchen not catching on fire."

I gasp. "Why would you say that and put it in the universe?" I squeeze my hands together in fists. "It's like out there now. Ready to come back and boom. Kitchen on fire."

"Since when are you superstitious?" Presley just eyes me. "Out of all of us, you are the last person who's even remotely superstitious."

I just look at them, trying to mask all the things going through my head right now. I shouldn't be this nervous. I’ve done this a thousand times. Yes, but not personally. With each bride, I leave a little bit of myself in their shoes. "There was that one time that the mirror in the bride's room shattered." Clarabella looks over at Presley.

"That was because she was having sex against it," I point out, "with the groom's father."

"Oh, yeah, that should have been a sign." Presley taps her phone that is on her lap with her finger. "We must have done something right. She’s coming back for her second wedding."

"Nothing says I really loved what you guys did with my first wedding than to come back for a second time," Presley says, looking down at her notes and starting. "Everything has been reconfirmed." I look down on my list that is all blacked out with check marks beside it. "We have them setting up for the rehearsal dinner right now."

"Which looks amazing," Clarabella says, and I just stare at her. "What? You know the rules. We plan each other's wedding."
"So what’s the verdict?" my brother, Quinn, asks as soon as I walk back out of the stall and into the hallway. I use the back of my forearm to wipe the sweat away from my forehead. My hands are dusty and dirty from being in the stall.

"Why yes, I’ll take a bottle of water." I side-eye him as I walk toward the sink in the corner, washing off my hands, and then heading straight to the kitchen at the end of the long concrete pathway. I pass the empty office that I used to help out in when I was a teenager, going over to the fridge and grabbing a water bottle. Opening the bottle, I down half of it before turning back to him. "God, that feels good."

"Can you not be such a pain in the ass?" Quinn huffs as he stands there in his blue jeans and white shirt, all put together with his cowboy boots. He puts his hands on his hips as he glares at me.

"I can," I say, putting the bottle on the counter next to me and leaning back on it. Crossing my arms over my chest, I then cross my feet at the ankles. My own boots are dusty and dirty. My scrubs that were clean now have some blood on them. "But then, what fun would that be?" I try not to smile, but when he groans, I can’t help the laugh that escapes me.

"I swear to all the saints in the world." He looks up at the ceiling. "Can you be professional for once?"

I stand. "One, me coming to see you on a Friday afternoon at three is fucking professional, especially since I don’t do calls on Friday." I point at him. "But since you made Grandpa call me like a pussy-ass bitch, I came out."

"One, I didn’t make anyone call you." He puts up one finger. "And two, he was just here, so he said he would do me a favor."

I roll my eyes, knowing full well that my grandfather took matters into his own hands, regardless of if my brother called me or not. "Yeah, yeah," I say, huffing out. "Anyway, he’s got mud fever."

"Shit," he swears, shaking his head.

"It’s not bad. Got to clean it a couple of times and keep it dry," I say, grabbing my jacket. "I’ll swing by tomorrow to see how he’s doing."

He nods at me as I walk out of the barn, my eyes squinting as the sun hits my face. I take a second to lift my face and feel the heat before walking over to my pickup as I make my way back to my practice.

The sounds of gravel crunching under my tires as I come to a stop. The trees all around block most of the sun from coming in, so it’s cooler. My boots also crunch when I walk toward the front stairs.

I’ve always had a vision of what my practice would look like, and when I showed my father, he made it happen. When it was time to discuss how I would pay him, he scoffed and informed me that it would just come to me when he died. I shake my head, thinking about it. Whenever they wanted to give you something or pay for something, they always brought up them dying.

I wanted the house to look like a log cabin, and when you walked in, the reception area was in the middle of the room with four rooms all around. Each room for a different type of animal. Behind those four rooms was where I did most of my work. The operating room was there, along with all the crates where we housed the pets we kept overnight. I can’t help the smile that comes to my face when I stand at the door and see my logo, H.B. Animal Veterinarian. I turn the brass handle to the door and walk in. The bell on top of me rings, making Donna, the receptionist, look up from her desk. Donna has been with me since day two when I started, and she came in with her cat. I am not going to lie, I was overwhelmed with the phone ringing, and then it was all just so much at once. She smiled at me, sat in the chair, and has been with me ever since. She makes sure everything is neat and organized, so I get to do what I love best, which is work with the animals.
From USA Today bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a small town, friends to lovers romance.
Before she was mine to have, she was mine to kiss!
I fell in love with Harlow on the first day I met her, when I was pulling open the door for her.
She was everything you could want in a woman—smart, kind, funny, patient. I loved knowing she would be mine forever.
I made her promise she would be there for the best day of my life... until it all came crashing down.
The butterflies in my stomach are starting already, and I can’t help but smile.

"It’s so pretty," my mother says from the front seat, and it just makes me beam. "You did good, Harlow." She looks over the passenger seat and smiles at me. Her eyes start to fill with tears. "I can’t believe you are leaving us again."

"Darlin’," my father says softly. I roll my eyes as my mother looks at him; he leans over and kisses her lips, and I shake my head. My parents' love affair was what you see in movies and read about in love stories. It got annoying when I was growing up, but now that I’m older, I know I want a man who will love me like that. "It’s a couple of months, and she’ll be back for Thanksgiving."

"Maybe," I mumble under my breath, getting the stink eye from my father and a glare from my mother. Laughing, I open the door and step out of the car, the heat from the sun hitting me right away.

I put my hand over my eyes and look up at the red and white building. The minute I saw the online ad, I knew this would be amazing. I hear my parents behind me and turn to see my father taking out my three pieces of luggage from the trunk. "I’m going to go ahead and meet the girls before you guys come up and scare them off." I turn to walk up the concrete stairs, stopping at the red front door.

A little sitting area is on each side of the door under the covered porch, so you can sit out here and either work or just relax. I push open the door, my stomach fluttering as I see the picture in my head come to life. Just inside, two white doors with the number one and two are located on each side. Walking up the staircase in the middle of the room, I head to the second floor and see the same doors with the numbers three and four.

Another reason I chose this apartment is that there are only four units in the whole place. I hold up my hand to knock, and I see it’s shaking with nerves. I laugh at myself right before I knock. "Coming." I hear from the other side of the door as I shake out my hand, the thumping of my heart making my stomach feel like it's on a roller coaster.

The door opens, and the girl who stands there smiles at me big. Her blonde hair is piled on top of her head, and she wears short white overalls with a peach T-shirt. "Harlow," she says, and her blue eyes light up. "Rachel." She points at herself, and then I step forward, and we go in for a hug. The two of us have been chatting over text for the past two months, preparing for me to come down. "It’s so good to finally meet you," she says, letting me go and taking a step back into the apartment. "Welcome home." She opens her arms wide.

I can’t even contain my excitement as I walk in. "It’s perfect," I say, looking around and seeing that the living room is attached to the kitchen. It's smaller than it looked in the pictures, but that’s okay. The only thing I was really set on was having my own bedroom and bathroom. The rest wasn’t important to me.

"The movers just left," she says. "They just put everything in there." She stops talking when we hear footsteps coming from the hallway and look over to see my parents walking in.

"These are my parents," I state, and I wait for it.

"Is that…?" she asks, and I glance over at her as she looks at me and then back at my mother.

"That’s my mom, Olivia," I confirm, and she just smiles in shock. My mother was a big-time model before she even met my dad. My mother looks around the apartment, and I can already tell that she is planning to decorate it. She turns and looks back at Rachel, smiling at her. "And that’s my dad, Casey." I point at my father, who just nods to her, and he does his own sweep of the apartment. "This is Rachel."

"Hi," she says, waving her hand awkwardly. "Nice to meet you guys. Let me show you your room." She turns and walks down the long white hallway. "Every room is the same size." She opens the first door we come to, and I see my stuff there filling up the room. "And of course your bathroom is in the corner."

"Oh my," my mother says. "We have our work cut out for us."
