I thought breaking out of there was going to be the hardest thing I ever did. I should have known. Being the leader of The Black Widows is never that easy. Someone should have warned me that the woman I was about to kidnap was going to bring me to my knees.
She knows I’m coming for her, and this time, she won’t be slipping through my fingers.
I’m going to destroy her, and only then will I make her mine.
He was last seen heading west towards Bellevue Springs.”

A mug shot appears on the television and I stare at it with wide eyes, my heart racing a million beats an hour as I strain to hear the reporter over the loud pulsing in my ears. “Dominic is responsible for the gang war that hit the streets between Breakers Flats and Blaxlands Grove nearly seven years ago, resulting in multiple deaths, one being the leader of the West Side Wolves, Mikhail Russo. Along with charges of theft, possession of a deadly weapon, and assault. It is safe to assume that Dominic is armed and dangerous.”

My hand covers my mouth as I try not to scream. This can’t be happening. I was supposed to be safe. I still had three and a half years before he was out. Three and a half years before I had to run. This wasn’t part of my plan.

What am I supposed to do?

He’s coming for me. There’s no doubt about it. I know it right down in my soul.

The reporter continues, her face draining of color, almost as though the thought of Nic being out of prison is the scariest thing she’s ever encountered. She’d be right. She should be terrified. The whole fucking city should be. “Tonight, police are searching far and wide to get this dangerous criminal back behind bars where he belongs. This is a public service announcement. If you see him, do not approach, do not communicate, and do not allow him into your homes. I repeat, do not engage with this man. Flee to safety and call your local police department as soon as possible.”

The screen flashes to footage of a white transport van leaving the prison, merging onto the highway, and speeding through traffic to get away. His mug shot appears again, and I suck in a breath. It’s as though I’m staring straight into his eyes. I find myself hitting pause, unable to look away from his face. It’s the face of my nightmares, the face that has held me captive for nearly twelve years.

I was a different person at sixteen, naive and stubborn. If I knew the hell that Dominic Garcia would rain down over me, I'd have stayed far, far away. But I was a girl and he was more than just a boy … so much more.

The minutes tick by with me sitting on my couch, staring at the screen, and taking in his face. It’s just as I’ve always remembered. He hasn’t aged a day in the seven long years since I saw him last. Though, there’s a very real possibility that this is an old mug shot. I’m sure he’s taken his fair share of mug shots over the years.

I go over everything that the reporter just said.

He was last seen heading west towards Bellevue Springs.

My heart races faster.

Bellevue Springs has been my home for the past nine years. I've worked here, thrived here, started a new life here. I live just outside of Bellevue Springs as only the rich and famous can afford to live there, but it doesn’t mean this isn’t my home.

And now he’s coming.

I shoot to my feet, panic surging through me.

He could be heading this way to see his friend Ocean and meet her baby, Storm. I’ve kept up with her all these years, and she’s become a great friend. The way she survived all the bullshit she went through was admirable, but a part of me has always wondered if I kept her close because of her connection to Dominic. Though she never knew about Nic and me, no one did. He was my best-kept secret, which is what makes this so dangerous. I'm screwed if Nic comes for me; no one would know where to look.

Nic promised that he would always come for me, and now that he’s got nothing else holding his attention, I’m all he has left.

If I knew this was how it was going to end … fuck. I never would have gone there. But Nic is Nic. He’s always been so charismatic, so charming, and devilishly handsome. He comes armed with a grin that could tear any woman’s panties right off her body, and he’s only gotten better with time. He has more tattoos than I remember, but fuck, they’re my weakness.

Dominic thrives on the chase; it’s his addiction. He loves having a target to focus all of his attention on. Without it, he'd be running rampant, and no one could stop him—not even his crew. He’s a fucking psychotic killer looking for his next hit, and my name just appeared at the top of his list.

Don’t ask me how I know; it's just a feeling, and so far, my gut has never let me down. My brother taught me two things in life; to punch first, think later, and to always trust your gut. I know I haven’t seen him in at least five years, but I’m not in the business of forgetting important life-saving lessons.
Gang life isn't for everyone, but a b*tch in colors always looks good.
The West Side Wolves claim to be a brotherhood, but what do they do when a sister walks in demanding their attention?
To everyone else, stepping into the Wolf Den was an epic mistake, filled with consequential betrayals. But to me, it was a necessity and I’m more than prepared to take on the vile evils that come with the territory because, in the end, it gets me one step closer to taking down Dominic Garcia.
The b*tch is back. It’s kill or be killed. Ride or f*cking die.
Every step I take drags me further and further away from my life with Colton. I’m taking hit after hit and time is officially ticking. I just hope that what we have is strong enough to pull us through to the other end because Colton Carrington is my end game.
It’s time to stand up for what I believe in and make my move.
It’s now or never. Fate won’t wait for anybody.
The end is near; I feel it in my bones. But after all is said and done, where does that leave us, and who will be left standing?

Books in Series:

Rejects Paradise Series by Sheridan Anne

Books by Author:

Sheridan Anne

Chapter 1

Dominic

Tears well in his pathetic eyes as he stares up at me, silently begging me to spare his life, but I’m not about that shit here. I’m Dominic Fucking Garcia; I’m un-fucking-touchable. No one gets away with turning their back on the Widows. No one.

He knew the rules. All the fucking Widows do. My father ran a tight ship, but I’m not him. He used to let his men run wild; he used to let them get away with all kinds of shit as long as they came home at the end of the day. But loyalty means something a little different to me, and unfortunately for this fucker, he don’t got it.

I crouch down, studying his face and taking in the black widow tattoo that sits just below his eyes. He doesn’t deserve our mark. He’s a traitor to his family.

The light of the small warehouse flickers above and sends shadows soaring over his already terrified face. I love that fucking flicker. It’s why I use this warehouse. There’s something about a flickering light that sends an already scared man into overdrive. Maybe it’s the small buzz and zap when the light finally gives out and sends the room into darkness. It could be the way that it slowly rocks from side to side as the breeze comes in through the back door, casting shadows back and forth across the warehouse, playing mind games.

I grin as the light flickers back to life. The fucker looks absolutely terrified.

What can I say? I’m all about the dramatics.

Murder isn’t something to take lightly. If you’re going to end someone and send them to the darkest pits of hell, then it’s always best to do it with a little terror in their system.

Fuck, I can only imagine what someone on the outside looking in would think of me—that fucker needs therapy. They’d be right. I’m all sorts of fucked up, and it only gets worse, but what’s more, I fucking love it.

Respect. Power. Domination. It’s all fucking mine.

This is exactly what my father wanted for me, and it’s exactly what I took. I’m a fucking king and no one will take that away from me. I’m a god among my men, I’m a monster to the outsiders, and feared by the enemy.

No one can touch me.

“Come on, bro,” Kairo’s soft whine comes from the back of the warehouse, killing my vibe. “You've been playing with him for hours. Get it over and done with so I can get home and find a tight pussy to sink my dick into.”

Always thinking about his fucking dick.

My jaw clenches. Had that been anyone else interrupting my fun, they’d be on the ground beside this traitor, ready to hand over their life. Kai is my boy though, my best fucking friend, my brother, and my second. There are only three bastards in this godforsaken world that could get away with this bullshit—Kairo, Sebastian, and Elijah.

They’ve had my back since day one. They've witnessed all the bullshit and know me better than I know myself. They’re the reason I’m not rotting in jail; they’re the reason my fucking father didn’t rot in jail. Without them, I don’t know where I’d be. They reel in my crazy. They think they know just how far I’ll go, but they don’t. If they did … fuck. I don’t even want to think about that.

If they knew the shit that I did, they might just turn their backs on me too, and that’s a blow that I wouldn’t be able to come back from.

I groan and ignore Kai’s comments. He needs to live a little; he’s such a fucking robot. I swear the guy’s never allowed himself to have just a little bit of fun.

Keeping my eyes on my traitor, I pull my knife and bring it toward the fucker’s black widow tattoo. He doesn’t deserve to wear our mark on his skin.

His eyes zone in, carefully watching the tip of my blade. “You fucked up,” I murmur, my voice low and threatening.

“I … I … I know. I'm sorry,” he says in a cold sweat. “I swear, I’ll never do it again. Please, I …”

“You’ll what?”

The front of his jeans darkens with piss, and I scrunch my face in disgust. There’s nothing worse than a man who can’t handle fear, and judging by the shame that flashes on his face, he knows it. He’s not worthy of being one of my men. Had Russo been the one to take him, this bitch would have squealed in seconds. He would have told him everything there is to know about Dominic Garcia and the Breakers Flats Black Widows, and that shit is unforgivable.

I slice the tip of my knife through his tattoo, making a point that he doesn’t belong. “You wear this tattoo with pride, yet you’re fucking the enemy,” I say, watching as he flinches with the sharp sting of the knife.
Cold-blooded murder.
Do I have it in me?
I’ve watched the people I love commit the worst kinds of crimes and within the blink of an eye, I could be just like them. I feel the jagged glass beneath my fingers, but do I have the strength to follow this through? How much of my soul am I willing to sacrifice to make this right?
Nic was supposed to be my rock. He was supposed to be my world until he showed me a side of himself that terrified me. He’s not the boy I once loved, he’s a man who’s quickly becoming the monster in my nightmare.
Colton saved me. Colton keeps saving me, but I don’t know if he can pull me back this time. He has secrets of his own, but they leave me wondering just who it is that I’m falling for.
He lied to me. With momma Carrington and the b*tch twins back, Jude Carter hostage in the wine cellar, a killer on the loose, and a secret I never saw coming, my life is seconds away from spiraling out of control.
The question is: Who will be there when I come out the other end?
The heavy metal door slowly closes and rebounds off the lock with a loud, sharp bang, leaving it propped open with a sliver of light shining through Jude’s cold, dungeon.

If I was smart, I'd open the door wide and leave a way out, somewhere to run and make a quick getaway, but not today. All senses of right and wrong left me the second I saw his face.

I won’t be walking out of here until this is done. Revenge is a dish served ice-fucking-cold.

No one gets away with putting their hands on me. I’ve allowed Nic to walk all over me for too long and I won’t stand for it anymore.

From now on, I walk on my own two feet and I do it with pride. I deal with my problems, and I will be the one to right the wrongs made against me. I’ve always seen myself as strong, but I was anything but. I was weak. Defeated. Scared.

Never again. I don't care how sick this makes me. I don't care if it puts me on the same level as Nic. I'm ending this and I'm ending it now. I'm tired of looking over my shoulder and seeing his face in every shadow. I'm sick of remembering the way his hands felt against my body or the way he tore my dress and left me completely defenseless to take what he wanted.

I'm done letting him win.

“Fuck, you little bitch,” Jude growls low, his teeth clenching as he pulls hard against the chains keeping him hostage. Blood pours from his thigh and a maniacal grin spreads across my face.

Damn. That felt good.

I tilt my head and let my eyes sparkle with excitement, showing him just how fucked up I can be. “What's wrong, Jude? You don't like that? You don't like me taking whatever the fuck I want?”

“You're fucking insane,” he spits at me as I spin the broken wine bottle in my hand and step closer to him, watching as he desperately tries to pull away, scrambling across the cold concrete floor.

A laugh bubbles up my throat. “You know what's fucking insane?” I taunt, brushing the broken glass over his skin, teasing him with the power I hold and loving the way his eyes follow my every little movement. “Thinking you can drug and rape me then walk away without punishment.” I lean in, pressing the jagged glass a little harder into his skin and grinning as I pierce it. My voice lowers to a sadistic, twisted whisper. “That's not how this little game is going to play out.”

“You won't get away with this,” Jude says, his eyes wide and terrified. “My father is going to find out and he's going to have you committed. You'll never walk this town again. You're going to wish you were dead.”

Ha. What a joke.

“What's that I hear?” I laugh, tearing my hand back and watching the glass slice through his delicate skin like a warm knife through butter. He cries out and the satisfaction pulsing through my body intensifies. “Hiding behind Daddy's power, money, and sick morals again? But guess what? He can't hear you scream down here.”

“You're fucking sick.”

“I'm fucking sick?” I grab his shoulders and slam my knee up into his junk, then step back to watch as he falls to the ground, doubling over in agony. He lands in the puddle of blood at his feet and for a slight second, I'm thrown back to the Black Widow's warehouse, watching as two murderers died by the hands of my so-called best friend. They too collapsed into pools of their own blood, right before Nic introduced me to his dark side.

Looking at Jude's pathetic self laying in agony at my feet, I finally get it. Without hesitation, I'm going to end him just like Nic had done to those who had wronged him and I won't stop until the job is done. I deserve peace. I've only been living with this for a few weeks, but what about the other girl he hurt? She's been living with this for who knows how long? She deserves justice just as much as I do, if not more. They laughed at her and claimed she was a liar. They disregarded her pain, embarrassment, and shame.

I won't let him get away with it any longer. People like Jude need to realize that their money won't always speak louder than their crimes. If justice won't get served in a courtroom, then it sure as hell will be served in this old, secret room in the back of Charles' private wine cellar.

I kneel, watching him writhe in pain. “You're scum, Jude Carter. I'm going to enjoy ending you.”
Rape. Death. Injustice.
Bellevue Springs is not the place I thought it was going to be. Meeting Colton Carrington has changed my life but the jury is still out on how he changed it. Good … bad? I guess I’ll find out. I live in a dark world, but he was a darkness that was welcomed, a darkness that I certainly wasn’t prepared for.
Missing people. A dead billionaire. Gang war. Sexism.
When does it end? Nic is bearing down on me. He wants me back in Breakers Flats where he can protect me, but I can’t walk away, not now that the secrets are finally starting to spill. People aren’t who they say they are and being careful in a rich man’s world becomes more important than ever before.
Will I survive this or am I destined to fail? All I know is that death has never come so close and for the first time in my life … I’m f*cking terrified.
Penis balloons get shoved through the door and fly to the ceiling revealing the penis shaped hat on his head and pant’s down around his ankles with his dick staring back at me.

My eyes bug out of my head, but the shock coursing through my veins has me unable to find words. Eli strides through the door with his cock hanging low and in one easy swoop, he starts windmilling it around with his fists pumping into the sky.

“I’M FUCKING SYPHILIS FREE AND IT’S ALL THANKS TO YOU.”

What the fuck kind of bullshit have I invited into my life? And why can’t I take my eyes off his swinging dick?

It circles at least five full rotations before he reels that monster in and I manage to tear my gaze away. “What the hell are you doing?” I screech, pulling back as he starts racing toward me.

He launches himself across the room and I scramble away but he’s too quick. Eli’s strong grip curls around my ankle and he drags me back to him before curling me into his warm arms and suffocating me with love. “Get your dirty dick away from me, you skank ass whore.”

His groin wriggles against my thigh. “No can do, sweet cheeks,” he laughs proudly, his excited grin becoming infectious. “This dick is as clean as they come. Come on, have a good look. I might even let you touch it.”

“NO. God, no. Get it away from me.”

Eli laughs and finally relents, releasing his strong grip and allowing me to right myself on the couch. He awkwardly gets back to his feet with his jeans hanging around his ankles, and as he goes to bend to hoist them back up Officer Langston steps out of the bathroom and comes to a startling stop.

Eli’s eyes bug out of his head and his pants are torn up his legs so damn fast that I start to worry about the likelihood of his dick getting caught in his zipper. I roll my eyes, watching him die of embarrassment as the penis hat swiftly falls from his head.

Langston’s eyes narrow and flick between me and Eli, instantly assuming something else is going on here. Embarrassment floods through me even though it shouldn’t, and I'm left with bright red cheeks as the officer makes his way back toward the couch.

Eli doesn’t care for my embarrassment as protecting me from a threat will always come first. He steps in front of me, blocking me from the cop and knowing damn well that when there’s a cop in a room with someone from Breakers Flats, it’s not good news. “Who the fuck are you?”

“Eli,” I hiss as Langston’s hand hovers above the gun at his hip, clearly recognizing the massive black widow spider tattoo on his neck as the mark for his gang. For fuck’s sake. I love my boys but they have a way of making matters so much worse. Sometimes it’s a gift and other times, like this, it’s a nightmare. “Sit your stubborn ass down. Officer Langston was just taking my statement.”

“Your statement?” Eli gasps, spinning around to glare at me. “The fuck, Ocean? You know better than to talk to the cops about your shit. Nic said we’ll handle it.”

I clench my jaw, silently begging him to keep his fucking mouth shut but Officer Langston has a death wish and provokes him. “What’s a Black Widow doing in my town? You must be lost, boy.”

Eli spins back around, looking as though he just stepped right out of hell. “Boy?” he says, demanding respect. “I’m not your boy. I’m your worst fucking nightmare, and if anyone is lost around here, it’s you.”

“Black Widow’s are not welcome here.”

Eli takes a step forward, showing that he’s not about to back down. “Black Widows have been running this fucking town since you were in diapers, boy,” Eli spits, making my brows furrow and a million questions flow through my mind.

Langston looks around Eli and catches my eyes. “Is he bothering you, ma’am?”
I pinch the joint from between Sebastian’s fingers and ignore his irritated protests as I bring it to my lips. “Hey, what gives?” he demands, reaching for it, only to miss it by mere inches.

I grin wide, my eyes glistening with laughter and I relax back on Elijah's lap. “Too slow, Sebastian,” I tease, rocking the joint back and forth between my fingers. I wink, loving how easy it is to torment him. “Though, that’s always been the way with you when it comes to me.”

Sebastian rolls his eyes and flops heavily into the backseat. “Screw you,” he says with a soft chuckle, his eyes scanning over my body. “I could have had you if I tried hard enough.”

Dominic scoffs from the front seat and my eyes slice toward him to find him staring out the window. Both he and Kairo stare adamantly out the windshield watching the newbie dickheads of his father’s gang fuck up their deal in the park.

Sebastian’s hand swipes toward me, stealing my attention away from Nic. I pull the joint back, narrowly avoiding it being swiped from between my fingers. I grin back at him. “Just like I said. Too slow.”

Sebastian groans and I laugh. He’s one of my best friends and though he’s the biggest flirt I’ve ever met, there’s never been anything between us. He's like a brother to me, the best kind of brother and I hate that I have to move away from him. Apart from Dominic, leaving Sebastian is going to hurt the most. It’s going to be an excruciating kind of pain, but when it comes to my crew, all it would take is a single phone call for the four of them to drop everything and come running.

“What’s the big deal anyway?” I question, studying the sharp lines of his handsome jaw. “It’s not as though you don’t have four more of these bad boys hidden in your pocket or shoved halfway up your ass.”

He ignores my stab and rolls his eyes. “You know damn well that I don’t give a shit about you getting high. I'll fucking welcome it if it means a shot at tasting that sweet pussy before you go, but you and I both know that the problem is Nic kicking my ass for letting you take it. Not to mention, he’s currently scheduling a second beating for that comment about your pussy.”

I laugh as Dominic grunts from the front. I keep my gaze locked on Sebastian. “If Nic has a problem with it then he can grow some balls and speak to me about it instead of messing up your pretty face. Black and blue aren't exactly your colors.”

Sebastian groans as Elijah’s arm tightens around my waist, over-protective at the thought of me and Nic having it out. We’re both passionate people, and seeing as though angry-sex is off the table, that only leaves one other option and we all know it wouldn’t be pretty.

“Go to hell,” Sebastian chuckles, unable to keep the smirk off his face.

I laugh. “I did. It was full so I came back.”

Kairo shakes his head, keeping his eyes trained out the front windshield, somehow able to ignore the thick smoke in the car. “I always knew you were some kind of devil.”

Dominic scoffs, his eyes flicking up and meeting mine through the rear-view mirror—dark and way too intense. “More like an angel in disguise.”

My stomach clenches and for a moment, it’s too hard to look away. That is until I remember how he crushed me six months ago. Even still, with that pain sitting heavy on my chest, I can’t possibly pull myself away from him. I love him and I always will. Nic is my world, he’s my best friend and the man who saved me from myself. I’ll just never be stupid enough to let him into my bed again.

Kairo starts murmuring beside Nic, knowing damn well that he’s the one Nic is going to send to fix the newbies fuck-up. I silently thank him for the distraction. Nic is too much. He's intense and knows exactly what it takes to make me the happiest girl in the world, but he also knows how to take it all away.

I lean back against Eli’s wide chest and finally bring the joint to my lips. I inhale deeply, closing my eyes with the hit.
