When Astrid Sinclair was sixteen years old, she had her first encounter with Lord, the lone wolf who lived near No Wolves Road. He stopped her from getting run over, as she was so engrossed in her book. Lord was not a man anyone wanted to mess with. A grumpy, lonely wolf, with no pack.

But, he was also a man she couldn’t stop thinking about. That's why she answered his ad for a housekeeper and chose to work at his ranch.

Lord hated books. Yet, every day, he went to the library where Astrid worked. He needed a cook and a cleaner, and Astrid answered that ad. The job was hers.

He wasn’t good with people, but Astrid called to a part of him he didn’t know existed. Astrid was his, he was sure of it. One night, during the full moon, he went to her, and he couldn’t control his need. She gave her virginity to him, and in return, he called her a convenience.

Hurt. Betrayed. She tried to forget about him. She tried to build a life away from him, even as she continued to work. However, there were forces working to bring them together. Neither could fight it.

They were at the mercy of their needs. Would they be able to forget their past and fight for their future?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

“He’s one of the meanest sons of bitches you’ll ever meet.”

“I heard he eats humans for breakfast.”

“He’s pure evil.”

Astrid Sinclair tried to ignore the rumors and warnings as she made her way down the long driveway of Lord’s Ranch.

Living in No Wolves Road since she was born, she was used to wolves and the superstition. She recalled the first time she encountered Lord. She was about sixteen years old and was so focused on the book she’d been reading, that she hadn’t watched where she was going.

If it hadn’t been for Lord, she would probably already be dead. She hadn’t seen the truck heading her way, and she had stepped out on the road, and well, Lord had pulled her right out of the way. Banded an arm across her waist. Being on the larger side, and having most of the kids—both human and wolf—make fun of her at school, she was convinced no one would ever be able to lift her. Lord had done so easily.

Of course, he had then berated her, calling her a fucking idiot moron human, and a lot of other colorful words. Her family didn’t care what he called her, though. They’d been delightfully happy that he’d pulled her out of the way of oncoming traffic.

She’d never forgotten him.

Over the years, she had tried to learn as much about him as possible. So far, she had learned very little. He was a lonely wolf. No pack to speak of. No one had ever seen him with a woman. He’d not attended many functions in No Wolves Road, and he often kept his distance when he was in town.

There was nothing social about him, and that made everyone more suspicious. She didn’t mind him at all. In fact, ever since he had rescued her ten years ago, she had found herself falling, little by little, in love with Lord. It was a recipe for disaster.

He was a wolf.

She was a human.

There had been a few romances flare up in No Wolves Road, but they didn’t come without difficulty.

This had to be one of the biggest mistakes she had ever made, but at twenty-six years old, she had seen the job application and decided to sign up for it. Ever since she finished high school at eighteen and decided not to go to college, she’d worked at the local library. The only problem was, it didn’t pay a lot, and she still lived at home with her parents. This was a live-in position Lord was advertising, and she wanted it so badly she could taste it.

She loved her parents, but she was the only one living at home. Her two brothers were away, enjoying themselves. They had gone to college, one was some kind of investment banker, and another worked in advertising for a big firm. They kept their lives at No Wolves Road a secret. That was part of the rules.

Astrid never wanted to leave town. She loved it here. Sure, the wolves were mean, but then, so were people. No matter where she went, she would encounter the same kind of personalities but in different bodies. At least here was home, and she loved it. She loved being near the country and breathing in the fresh air. Also, the wolves that surrounded the town had vowed to protect it.

Humans and wolves lived in harmony, which was why she approached the fine-looking ranch house.

A lot of people in town had said he’d fixed the place up real nice, and the outside was beautiful. The outside was a nice cream color, and the window frames a dark brown. The roof no longer had any holes in it. Lord had spent a lot of time on the house.

“What the fuck are you doing on my property?”

She would recognize that voice anywhere. That day, ten years ago, when he berated her for being fucking stupid, his voice had been seared into her brain.

Glancing up at the porch, she saw him wiping his hands on a towel.

“Uh, I have an appointment.” She quickly cleared her throat because it sounded like she had a frog in her throat. She offered him a smile. “I’m Astrid Sinclair, we talked on the phone. You advertised a position for a live-in housekeeper.”

She hoped this was not some kind of prank. There was no one to tell she had a large crush on this man.

Astrid didn’t make friends easily, which is why she always had her head in a book, mainly romance books, because they were the best. As she got older, some of those books were more erotic in nature. Not that anyone would ever know that. She could read whatever the hell she liked using an e-reader, and no one would know, unless they read over her shoulder, which was just rude.

Lord stared at her, and she started to feel a little sick.
Lisa was never going to forgive him. After falling in love with an Alpha, giving herself to him, and seeing a future with him, Lisa had her heart crushed. He was only using her. She was not a wolf, so she wasn't good enough to be his mate. Breaking up with him, was the only thing to do.

Shadow wasn’t ready to end things with her. From the moment he first saw the human, he knew he wanted her. What he didn’t expect was to fall hard and fast. But she’s no wolf. She can never be his mate. Then why can't be bear the thought of losing her?

His mate was supposed to be another wolf. But Lisa did something to him, and now he cannot stop thinking about her. He has to do something to win her back, to gain back her trust. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child, he knows this is the only chance he is going to get to make things right.

Lisa never intends to forgive Shadow. Being around him, day after day, it gets harder to keep him at arm’s length. And the truth is, does she really want to? What harm is there in forgiving?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

“Shadow Storm is here.”

Lisa looked toward the main door of the coffee shop, and sure enough, there was Shadow himself—over six feet of him—filling the entire doorway. She didn’t even need to look around to know men and women admired him. They all wanted a piece of him.

She glanced over toward Adele who’d given her the heads-up that her ex had entered the store. Not that anyone would have known they were ever a couple. They were rarely ever seen together. In the beginning, she had figured it was because he was getting used to dating a human, but then, much to her embarrassment, it was another reason.

They’d been dating for nearly a year. He’d been flirting with her every time he came into the coffee shop, and she’d always rejected his advances. She never once believed a single word he said about how beautiful and smart she was, and that she made the best coffee. Now, she did take the coffee comments seriously.

At twenty-five years old, she’d been serving coffee for five years. After her parents passed away six years ago, she had sold their family home, packed up and moved to No Wolves Road. This is where she wanted to be.

As a human, her family had moved from place to place, including areas dominated by pack wolves. Lisa wasn’t clear about how they had come to know the existence of wolves, just that her family did. This also meant they were able to find them. She believed it was due to some distant cousin or something like that who ended up married, or became a wolf. Again, very vague, but either way, she knew about the existence of wolves. Some of the packs she’d lived among hadn’t exactly been nice. Some had been downright cruel.

So, No Wolves Road had felt like a sanctuary to her. No wolves resided in this small town, however, they were surrounded by multiple large and small packs, or even lone wolves. None of them lived in the town, and this suited her.

However, as she’d been living here five years, she’d also come to see something she didn’t like. The wolves, as in most of the old packs, used the male and female humans.

Until a few months ago, when an Eloise Richards finally settled down with one Beau Alpha, no other wolf had taken the lurch and mated to one of them.

They were humans, lesser species. The only good quality they seemed to possess was the ability to serve and to fuck. She hated this, and she vowed to never date one of them.

That had technically lasted four and a half years, until six months ago. She finally gave in and dated Shadow. He’d been sweet, kind, and very sincere. She should have known it was all a façade. They’d dated for six months, and during that time, she had fallen madly in love with him, given him her virginity, and in her head, saw a future together. Then, one cruel night, he didn’t know she was heading to the bar to see him. That was when she heard him talk about her.

“Fuck, no, I’m not settling down with her. She’s a piece of pussy, that’s all. Something to have fun with and not think about the future. I’d never mate to a human. Please, we all know what they’re good for.”

There had been some rude comments about her size, and some men had wondered how he could enjoy screwing such a woman.

All Lisa remembered was being so heartbroken. She’d never been a woman to cause scenes, and rather than see them laughing at her, she’d left. She never called Shadow back. When he came knocking on her door to see her, she literally didn’t move, so he didn’t sense she was home. Until he left, assuming she wasn’t home, she stayed perfectly still.

Avoiding his calls, not answering the door, it was only a matter of time before he ended up at the coffee shop, and she finally confronted him two weeks ago. Since then, he hadn’t been in the coffee shop. To some women, he wasn’t worth her tears or her time, but she was still struggling to get over him.

“Do you want me to handle him?” Adele asked.

The other woman was the same age as her, only she was smart. Adele didn’t flirt, she didn’t steal glances at anyone. She stayed perfectly neutral, not giving any wolf the time of day. Now that she thought about it, Adele didn’t flirt with any human or wolf.

She was tempted to let Adele deal with everything related to Shadow, but Lisa didn’t want to feel this way. No Wolves Road was a small town, and she wasn’t leaving it because she couldn’t handle one guy. Shadow was one single guy. A cruel one, but also just a wolf, and she would get over him soon enough. He’d taken her virginity and said some of the sweetest things to her, but it didn’t really matter.
No Wolves Road is a human town constantly visited by different pack wolves. There is one rule—no conflict in town. For Eloise Richards, she refuses to become another notch on any wolf's bedpost. She noticed how the wolves, men and women, come and use them. None of them want a human mate.

Beau only intended to help the young woman who didn’t like to be flirted with. Now he can’t get her out of his mind, and she seems to be everywhere he turns.

She has no intention of falling for the wolf with the reputation for being a nasty alpha, but one kiss, and all bets are off.

Beau knows he’s messed up when he discovers she's a virgin. What was meant to be a quick fling, soon turns into much more.

Eloise doesn’t expect him to take the news of her pregnancy well, but when he accuses her of being with someone else, that hurts more than anything. She will never forgive him.

He messed up and this time, it might just cost him his woman and child. Beau knows he’s got to do something to make it right. But what can he do. Eloise won’t talk to him. She doesn’t want anything to do with him. How can he fix this?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Eloise Richards walked right up to Wayne, the barman, tapping on the counter. She offered the older man a smile and waited for him to finish serving one of his customers.

“What’s up, honey?” he asked.

“Have you seen my sister, Dorothy?”

Wayne pursed his lips, clicked his tongue, and then shook his head. “Not for a few days now.”

She scrunched up her nose as that was not the answer she wanted to hear. “Let me guess, another wolf?”

“Bingo,” Wayne said.

“Great. If you see her, let her know her mother and sister are worried sick, and would like her to show up for work.”

“You got it. Do you want a drink?”

Eloise didn’t need to look to know there were a lot of wolves around. “Nah, thanks. If you see Dorothy, please call me.”

Even though their mother, Wendy, didn’t seem concerned, Eloise couldn’t help but be. She knew Wendy loved to play around with the wolves that came to their town. No Wolves Road was a small town hidden away, but on the border of so many different packs. The residents were human. Eloise didn’t quite know how it all worked, only that there was some sort of deal made a long time ago for a few select humans and wolves to live peacefully.

No wars broke out within their small town, and the wolves from the different packs that visited were peaceful. Arguments and conflict would not be allowed on their own land.

The only problem Eloise had seen was that the wolves used the men and women when they pleased. Her sister Dorothy had been in a relationship with multiple wolves over the past few years. Eloise didn’t mingle with any of them. It wasn’t that she had any issue with the wolves. She saw right through them, and in her twenty-five years of living in No Wolves Road, she’d never seen any of the wolves mate or marry the women or men who lived in their small town. She had seen both male and female wolves mate fellow wolves, but that was all.

She would not get involved with a man who was not going to take their relationship seriously.

She spun around and took several steps toward the exit, only for a male wolf to step into her path. It was strange, but she was always able to identify a wolf from an ordinary man. The wolves always seemed larger. It wasn’t just muscle, but it was like their whole presence and aura filled the space.

“Well, aren’t you mighty fine?” he said.

They also had the worst pickup lines.

“Thanks,” Eloise said, and went to walk around. She pulled away as he started to grip her arm.

She was aware of their lightning-fast reflexes, but he didn’t seem to want to push the issue of touching her.

“How about you stay and I buy you a drink?” he asked, giving her a wink.

“No, thank you,” she said.

He frowned and she was able to finally move around him, heading toward the exit. “Ugh, I don’t think you quite understand what I’m offering you here.” He grabbed her arm, not too tight, but enough to stop her from getting away.

She turned toward him, folding her arms beneath her breasts as she pulled her arm away from him. Much to her surprise, he did, in fact, let her go.

“What?” She shrugged. “You buy me a drink, I take it, and you think at the end of the night we’re going to be together? Fucking? What?”

The smile on his face said he was more than happy with that. “Well, I was going to say we could start off by slow dancing, but I am more than happy to cut to the fucking.”

He moved in close and Eloise took a couple of steps back. “Not happening. No, thank you.”

“Are you fucking kidding me right now? A lot of women would be more than happy to get it on with this.” He pointed at his body.

“Yeah, and the lady doesn’t want to get anything on with you, you limp dick fuck.”

The voice was gruff, and Eloise had never heard it before. She couldn’t help but attempt to locate it, and as she did, a large, muscular man stepped out of the shadows of the bar. He wore a pair of jeans that had seen better days, along with a white sleeveless t-shirt and flannel shirt.

Eloise couldn’t help but stare, because he didn’t seem real. Black hair with streaks of white let her know he was a mature wolf.

Wolves didn’t exactly age the same as humans. There was a rumor that something had changed the way they aged. Eloise didn’t know if it was due to a magical spell done, or if it was wishful thinking on their part.

“Look, dude, I appreciate you coming over and interfering on my turf, but I think it’s only fair that you back the fuck off!”
