Ivor Bellerose is tasked with protecting the family who has a stolen treasure, one wanted by a draugr. The draugr has one directive only—to get back the stolen treasure and kill anyone in its way. Rowan has a part of that treasure and the first time Ivor sees Rowan, he knows that this unique human who can see past glamour magic, could possibly be more to him. But Rowan runs. Ivor frantically searches for him, drawn by what Rowan could possibly be to him, despite knowing an incubus can never have just one human mate. His magic drains humans and being with just one would kill him.

Rowan Forrest has always seen the magical world around him and never told a soul. He’s grown used to seeing them, but the draugr is new and something out of his worst nightmares. He runs but can’t get away from it, so he turns to Protective Solutions for help. There are many bodyguards watching over him, but Ivor makes him feel safest. Rowan is drawn to Ivor in a way he’s never experienced—and his experiences haven’t been that great so far. But he just knows it’ll be different with Ivor. He knows that Ivor could be everything to him.

Incubus is a long novella and number six in the Mystic Guardians Series. It features a sensual, supernatural bodyguard and a sweet chef who gets lost in his rich fantasy world. It does contain an ongoing plot in the series, so it’s better enjoyed with the rest of the books. But it can be read on its own

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Ivor

The warp to the small town of Canon Beach, Oregon left Ivor Bellerose so disoriented and breathless he dropped his satchel and fell to his knees, his jeans landing in a puddle of mud. Salt from the ocean air was sharp on his tongue, and he focused on that rather than on the way the trees were spinning whenever he opened his eyes.

“Well, shit,” he muttered as he wobbled to his feet then bent at the waist to try and get his breath back. His jeans were toast, partially wet and covered in mud. Some of the mud had splattered on his favorite beige cable knit sweater, as well.

This was going to make a good first impression.

He scowled up at his laughing best friend Emory, who was mud free and looking none the worse for wear in his black slacks and gray sweater. The angel’s overnight bag was still on his shoulder next to his white wings. His wavy blond hair danced in the sea breeze as he threw his head back and cackled. Emory absolutely loved instantaneous travel.

“You’re a freak,” Ivor muttered.

“It’s a wild ride, and I adore it.” Emory took a shaky step. “Still leaves my legs feeling weird. Doesn’t last long, though.”

Lake, the warper wizard who had brought them to Oregon, took a few moments to recover, made sure they were okay, then disappeared back to Seattle. With the world thankfully back in place now, Ivor picked up his bag and looked around the tree-lined road. They’d arrived out of sight of the home, but according to the map, it wasn’t far down the lane. Glancing at his muddy pants again, he frowned. He hated showing up to a place dirty.

“So just what do we plan to say to this family?” Emory asked as he stepped onto the paved road next to them and started walking. “It’s not like we can just stroll up there and say a draugr is on the loose.” He chuckled. “Nor can we claim to be traveling bodyguards, though that idea is humorous.”

“Maybe stay back and watch the house? Kind of at a loss myself.” They’d come here because the draugr—basically an animated corpse—could be after stolen treasure, and that put this family in danger.

The house came into view. A large, two-story red brick home that obviously had a private path to the beach behind it.

Ivor whistled. “Bet this property is worth a pretty penny.”

Emory stopped and raised one eyebrow. “What is it with you and property values lately?”

Ivor shrugged and blew out a breath. “I’m looking into buying a place of my own. I’m tired of renting apartments.”

“Ahh, the urge to settle down happening? Only took you four hundred and some years.”

He scowled at his friend. “Hey now, I’ve owned houses before. It’s just that I feel settled where we are now, and with Dax making Seattle more permanent, I don’t want to leave. You don’t plan to leave, do you?”

“No plans for that right now. I love this job. And I love Seattle. Besides, for two hundred years, the three of us have been tight. I don’t see that changing, and if you’re both permanently settling there, then that’s where I want to be as well.

Ivor couldn’t help but smile. He, Emory and Dax had been close for a very long time. The two were his best friends—his family. Dax had recently discovered his soulmate and was planning to move into Everett’s place. Ivor was so damned happy for Dax, who had always been the sort to cherish relationships over Emory’s preferred variety.

Ivor, too, enjoyed a variety of lovers, though his were more out of necessity than choice. As an incubus, his magic fed on sex, so he needed a lot of it to remain sharp.

They had all recently learned that humans could be soulmates, and this had given Ivor a little hope because he longed for one for himself. But the truth was, he could never just feed off sex with one human. It wouldn’t be enough. When he fed, he drained energy, and tapping a lot of partners kept him from overfeeding on one person. Not that it was a problem now—not without a soulmate.

His thoughts abruptly broke off when a loud scream sounded from inside the house.

He looked at Emory, who met his gaze with a fierce frown. “It’s here,” Emory said.

Ivor usually kept his daggers strapped to his back but hadn’t wanted to scare these people, so he knelt to rummage in his satchel for them. Then they both took off running toward the house.

They hurried up the stairs leading to the porch and front door, and Ivor tried the knob to find the house unlocked. Another scream came from inside, so they didn’t bother to announce themselves, running inside.

“That way,” Emory pointed to the right.
Will This Banshee Get His Second Chance For A Soulmate?

Five years ago, Daniel Ravenwood spent the best weekend of his life with a human who disappeared on him. As a computer specialist, he should have been able to find the man, but it turns out, that human had given him a false name. Now, as Daniel is working to find a group of preternaturals stealing powerful magic items, Aaron, or as it turns out, Noel, comes back into his life.

Noel Banner had been undercover when he’d met Daniel and been forced to lie to him. But he’s never forgotten the intense connection they’d shared. He’s tired of traveling and working undercover and has decided this will be his last job. He’s come back to Seattle to settle down and now he just has to convince Daniel to take him back.

Banshee is a novelette set in the Mystic Guardians Series world after Ogre. It can be read as a standalone, but has a small mention of an ongoing plot in the series. It’s a quick, sexy read featuring a banshee and the unique human who can see past his glamour—a human with the ability to be a soulmate

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Daniel

Daniel Ravenwood’s clawed fingers tapped on the keyboard as he followed another digital thread into the depths of the internet.

He loved digging deep into the dark web. It was one of his favorite parts of his job, and he was damn good at it. He’d worked at Protective Solutions for more than eight years now, and he inevitably got lost in the thrill of searching out answers only he could find. Only twice in those eight years had Daniel not found what he was looking for, and he was working on one of those now.

A twist of painful nostalgia gripped him at the thought of the other.

He swallowed back the lump that had gathered in his throat. As a banshee, he never let his emotions get the best of him. He couldn’t. Too much of a buildup, and his sonic scream would be busting the million windows this office building held. So he buried the heart-wrenching memory deep inside and got back to work.

He’d be taking the memory back out later, continuing the fruitless search for Aaron that had consumed him for the past five years.

For now, though, he needed to focus on a string of magical item thefts that had been happening in Seattle as well as in a circle of cities and towns around his city. Some of those items were extremely dangerous and needed to be found.

His gut told him the perpetrator lived in this area, and after digging deep into the internet, he’d found a message board where someone was posting before an actual theft, looking for the location of a particular item. And this item they were looking for was one of the most dangerous ones.

But whoever had posted knew how to hide their tracks with anonymizing browsers.

A lot of his job was reading through endlessly boring conversation to find the nuggets of treasure. It was also about following trails, which was what he was going to focus on today. And when those trails got deep enough, he had wicked tech tools he’d created himself. It was just going to take a little time and heavy concentration, but Daniel would trace the thieves.

He dug in.

He wasn’t sure how long he’d been hunched over his computer when Xavier walked into his office.

Daniel swung his rolling chair around, eyeing his employer with appreciation. The man was drop dead gorgeous with his long, sable hair and his svelte but muscular body. Today, he wore slim black slacks and a heavy burgundy cable-knit sweater that emphasized his lean strength. Daniel had a real appreciation for that form, but that was all he felt around Xavier. No chemistry.

Not like he’d felt with Aaron.

He scowled as, once again, Aaron intruded on his thoughts.

“Is that scowl for me or work related?” Xavier asked as he walked farther into the office.

“Neither,” Daniel replied, quickly rearranging his scowl into his usual smile. “I was caught in the arcane twists and turns of your sweater. Looks warm and toasty.” He flapped the collar of his own shirt. He was comfortable today in his thin blue button-down and jeans.

Xavier smiled faintly. “It is.” He usually dressed warmly, as he kept the temperature in the office lower than most human workplaces, for the preternaturals who naturally ran hot.

Daniel was one of those, so he appreciated the thoughtfulness. Xavier tended to brush off gratitude, but an occasional subtle jibe about fashion got the point across just as well. And helped to distract Daniel from his own thoughts. Just like work did. “What did you need?”

“It seems there is another group searching for the thief, a government group. I knew they existed, but this is the first time they have reached out to me. They know we are also looking, so they’re sending someone here to compare notes, so to speak. I want you to work with this man. A Noel Banner. I’ll be meeting with him first thing tomorrow.”

“Another digital investigator?”

“No, he’s a field agent.”

Daniel raised his eyebrows. “Why? Do they think you wouldn’t have a takedown covered?” He couldn’t imagine how a human field agent, however skilled, would be anything but a hindrance in a magical investigation.

“I’m not sure, but it is what it is.”

Daniel’s jaw tightened instantly with a pang of resentment. “Can’t you just tell them we don’t need him?”

Xavier gave an elegant shrug. “It would behoove me to foster a positive relationship with this organization.”

Surprise filled Daniel at Xavier’s casual acceptance. It was so out of character. “What’s the organization?”

“Arcane Intelligence.”

Daniel whistled. “I’ve come across them a time or two and wasn’t able to dig into them at all. Whoever they have doing their security is seriously good.”

“It’s a mostly human-run group, but they do have a couple of wizards and even a mage.”

“How do you know that?”

Xavier waved his hand. “I have my ways.”
Ogre Dax Grobb might find humans alluring, but he can’t be with one. Not with his size and supernatural strength. He’s on a job when a man he’d noticed is attacked. Dax saves him and there’s such a strong connection, a part of him hopes maybe a soulmate is possible for him after all. But he was wrong about what Everett is. Devastated, he still takes on a job to protect him, knowing that it’s probably the worst decision he’s ever made.

Everett Page has no idea what attacked him in that alley, but with a recent big inheritance, he believes a bodyguard might be a good idea. And he wants Dax. In more ways than one. Too bad, Dax seems to think he’s fragile because of his size. Being underestimated is the last thing Everett needs.

As they slowly figure out just what Everett’s attackers are after, they grow close, and Dax breaks his own rules about humans. He knows with everything in him this man is his soulmate. So what does it mean that Everett can’t be one?

Ogre is a long MM novella set in the Mystic Guardians world, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Get ready for an intelligent ogre and a writer who knows exactly what he wants, one who is about to learn there’s so much more to this world than his imagination could have dreamed of

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Dax

Daxington Grobb usually loved the sound of the water splashing against the rocky shore, but tonight each break had him narrowing his eyes and searching the surface of Elliott Bay. He was crouched behind a boat supply building with Emory, his coworker and best friend. Every muscle in his body was taut with readiness.

There was a half moon, but its meager gleam couldn’t compete with all the reflected lights from the city. Boats slowly moved across the surface of the water, and the seagulls were noisy despite the late hour. Though in his experience, the birds were noisy no matter the hour, letting out piercing screams when they felt their nests were threatened.

He often spent time along the bay at night. He liked to study under the lights that were strategically placed around the benches, and with his ogre size, nobody ever bothered him, so it was normally peaceful.

Under tonight’s circumstances, it was not.

Emory’s whisper broke the silence of their hiding spot. “Did Xavier tell you how many people he thinks they’ve taken?”

Dax watched some boat lights coming closer. “Around twenty missing persons, most last seen in this area. The cops are pulling out their hair. The victims are so random, they can’t find any connections.”

“Fuck,” Emory murmured. “I had a hot date tonight, too. Hated cancelling with Jacob.”

Dax didn’t recognize the name, but he hadn’t expected to. His friend was the epitome of non-monogamous. “How long have you known this one?”

Emory chuckled. “Just met him, of course. Was going to be a first date.”

“Since when do you date?” Dax threw him a surprised glance.

“Since he insisted we go out first.” He shrugged. “Worth the time. Guy has legs for days.” He frowned at the water. “Are we sure we’re in the right place?”

Dax nodded, struggling to pinpoint any strange sounds coming from the water over the seagulls’ racket. Xavier, their boss at Protective Solutions, had seen a connection among the disappearances that the police couldn’t. Dax had surmised this for himself as well.

The bay itself.

Xavier suspected kelpies had been coming onto land and carrying humans back into the bay to kill them. Kelpies were some of the worst preternaturals. Nothing more than vicious killers, really, and they were strong fuckers. So he had sent Dax and Emory to watch the shore where the last ones had emerged. Dax because he was strong enough to fight them no matter what form the kelpies took—he was always sent on the jobs that required brute strength—and Emory, the angel, because he was quick, and though he could no longer fly long distances, he could still jump high into the air and attack from above.

But the lights made spotting the preternaturals difficult. They’d been waiting hours now for the creatures to creep out of the beautiful bay.

“I wonder what brought them here,” Emory said after a bit.

Something rippled in the water, and Dax narrowed his eyes to watch, but nothing emerged. “I believe it has something to do with nature’s magic growing stronger. It’s probably drawing more preternaturals to this area. Can’t you feel how strong the ley lines are growing?”

Emory shot him a look, eyebrows raised. “I didn’t know you could.”

“My magic sensory ability is strong. Thought you knew that.”

“I knew it was stronger than mine, but not that you could sense ley lines.” Emory leaned closer, light reflecting off the long blond curls that he’d pulled up into a messy knot. “Can you sense how powerful Xavier is? Because what we saw him do to that wizard in Arizona…” He trailed off before giving a light shudder. “I’ll be honest—it scared the shit out of me.”

Xavier had stripped a warper wizard of his magic, surprising them all. The kind of power that took was beyond most preternatural’s imagination. He could not strip Dax’s strength nor intelligence, so it hadn’t scared him, just shocked him. But Emory’s abilities were more magical in nature. He could understand all languages and move objects with his mind. At one time, he’d been able to fly but some renegade angels had changed all that when they’d clipped his wings. Xavier could take those powers, so Dax understood his friend’s uneasiness. “I can sense his power to a degree. I believe he masks his full abilities.”

Emory nodded. “Yeah, I got that feeling, too. I’m also starting to wonder if he had other reasons for bringing us all into the company.”

Dax lifted an eyebrow. Not over the statement, per se, but more over the fact that Emory was pondering something so deep. Something Dax himself had been mulling. “Like what?”

“No idea, it’s just a feeling. Everyone he’s hired does have a specific talent, so I’m probably wondering that for nothing.”

The water rippled again, and this time, black tentacles slowly slid out as if to test the air. One large one crept onto the shore, thick and dark, with suckers that pulsed off its surface.
The singer’s career, the fame Finn doesn’t want to ruin.

Ajax Craig loves the career he’s built, but the need to create something new leads him to take a solo sabbatical, much to the dismay of his band. Something is immediately different with his jinn bodyguard, an unexpected and powerful attraction that swiftly grows between them. But would a magical being over three hundred years old be happy tied to a short-lived human?

Jinn is a long MM paranormal romance novella featuring a jinn with abandonment issues, a sexy rock star, music goodness, soulmates, and some serious heat! It’s the fourth novella in the Mystic Guardians Series.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Finn

The pumping beat of bass-heavy music resonated in Finn Kelly’s body. Dim lights from the ceiling flashed over the mass of tight bodies on the dance floor, a mix of colognes and alcohol filling the air.

Eyes closing, he let the beat take over, rolling his hips and relishing the pull on his muscles. He didn’t even mind the sweat that had his T-shirt sticking to his body. He’d just finished a job that had been boring as fuck, but somehow also as irritating as sandpaper on skin. So he’d stayed agitated throughout. Guarding a teenaged social media sensation who’d spent most of his time making videos and taking selfies had Finn’s teeth constantly grinding. It wasn’t the selfies and videos that agitated him so much—those things were fine. It was just this kid had been the most narcissistic, spoiled boy he’d ever met, with an attitude like a greedy toddler. He was famous as a singer for music that felt…empty. Soulless. Music a lot like his personality. Luckily, he wasn’t a local and had only been on vacation, so the job had only been two weeks. But that was two weeks of a sore jaw and a build-up of frustrated energy.

Releasing that build-up by using every muscle in his body to dance was the fucking trick. And the fast, heavy beat felt good pumping inside him.

When another body—no, make that two—brushed up against him, he opened his eyes to actually find three hot guys moving in his space. From their expressions as they looked at him, his night was about to get way more interesting. He wrapped his hand around the waist of one and tugged the man closer. Lean muscles pressed up against him as another moved against his back. Not wanting to leave out the third, Finn turned slightly and gave him a sultry smile, relishing the heat that flared in the man’s eyes.

Muted lighting and the close, dancing bodies made the club feel intimate as a hand brushed over his ass. No one would even blink at the four of them together. This place attracted a diverse crowd, which was another reason he’d chosen it tonight.

That and his apartment had felt too empty and silent lately. And while he was used to being alone—had spent most of his three hundred and forty years that way—his feelings had changed recently. He knew it had something to do with watching his friends find their soulmates. He hadn’t thought that was something he wanted, but those feelings were changing.

Maybe.

Fuck if he understood what his mind was doing these days. All he knew was he felt an unfamiliar kind of discontent.

The song changed to something a little slower, one with a sensual rhythm, and all four of them seamlessly blended into it. They’d moved slightly apart now, and Finn eyed the chest in front of him with appreciation. The guy was ripped, with a healthy set of pecs showing through his black mesh shirt. All three of them were gorgeous and seemed familiar with each other from the way they were grinding together. Probably a throuple out looking for a bit of added spice. Didn’t bother him—he’d been the added spice in a lot of couple’s lives in the past. Only the throuple part was new. But he was so up for it.

The beat picked up with another song change, and the overhead lights turned to strobes. A rainbow of colors flashed over everyone. Finn tilted his head back as hands stroked his chest and back. The guy behind him pressed closer, and he felt the hard ridge of his desire against his buttocks.

This was the life.

He had the next two days off, so a full night of rollicking sex was just what he needed. And these guys were perfect. Good looking and fit as hell with wicked promises in their expressions.

Tugging the man in front of him closer, he pressed his hips against him, and they rocked in matching rhythm. A taunting smile notched the corner of the guy’s lips. He had white-blond hair that picked up all the strobing colors and bright blue eyes that he kept locked on Finn. Their bodies meshed well together, and Finn imagined how hot it would be to be doing this without clothes. To do this with all three of them. He glanced at the other two to find them gazing at each other with so much affection, he narrowed his own eyes. They threaded their fingers together. There were genuine feelings there.

For some reason, this was now giving him pause. He watched as one of them cupped the cheeks of the other to give him a slow, sensual kiss.

A startling realization slammed into him like a blow.

Finn didn’t want to be a fourth wheel. Not tonight.

Maybe…not ever again.

He pulled the one in front of him close to talk in his ear over the music. “Enjoyed the dance, but I gotta go.”
Demon Callan Ambrose wants a soulmate more than anything but is sure he’ll never find his. One of his brothers is mated and soulmates are rare, so the odds are against him. Then he takes a job protecting Lonnie Russell, a creative writing professor who is quirky, and sweet, and just…perfect. But someone is terrorizing Lonnie with threatening notes.

Lonnie has always been able to see the preternaturals in the world and he’s always been fascinated with them. Especially demons. He even has an entire room dedicated to them. So he’s thrilled when his new bodyguard turns out to be one. Callan is big and gruff, his grumpy exterior a mask for someone who’s really a cuddle monster. And the gifts? He sure would like to know what that’s all about.

What started out as vague threats quickly escalates and when they realize what they’re up against, Callan is determined to keep his newfound treasure safe.

Demon is a long MM paranormal romance novella with a grumpy/sunshine pairing, traditional demon courting, and plenty of steam. It’s the third in the Mystic Guardians series, but can be read as a standalone.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Callan

The earthy smell of blood and sweat permeated the underground warehouse. The scent was thick and cloying, like trying to inhale a salty, coppery mist. The deafening noise from the crowd echoed off the high ceiling, and overhead lights glared down in the huge space, most of them aimed at the fighting pit.

Callan Ambrose swung his fist, relishing the satisfying crunch of the other demon’s nose. Blood spattered his face, some getting into his eye. He quickly blinked it away as the massive demon roared, bent, and rammed his horns into Callan’s chest. The force of the blow sent Callan staggering back into the chain-link fence around the fighting pit, pain hammering deep into his chest.

One of Callan’s three brothers yelled from the sidelines, “Don’t let this bonehead get so damn close!” It could have been Rafe, or maybe Nathanial—it was hard to tell through the adrenaline.

Grinning, Callan spit blood to the side and rushed the other demon, going in low to punch into his stomach. His opponent grabbed his horns and twisted in a vicious yank that wrenched his neck. He jerked away, freeing his horns, and swept out his leg in a powerful kick that took the demon’s feet right off the floor. He hit the mat hard but rolled back to his feet quickly.

This one was a decent challenger for a change.

Callan grinned.

“That’s it! Take him down!” That was from Bartholomew—surprising he could tell, since the cheers and catcalls of all the preternaturals gathered had reached ear-breaking levels in the cavernous space. Not to mention the myriad of fierce thoughts Callan was picking up from the demons and other preternaturals gathered. As usual, they created a sensory overload that ramped up his rage.

I could take Callan Ambrose.

Wish these fights were to the death. That would be more exciting.

More blood!

“Go for his knees, Callan!” Bartholomew shouted. “They’re weak!”

Callan had seen the demon favoring his knees throughout the fight, and if this had been a real fight, a life-or-death situation, he wouldn’t have hesitated to take them out. But this was just a match for fun, and he had no intention of crippling a fellow demon who was probably here for the same reasons.

Fun. Battle. And a way to vent frustration.

Callan had more than his fair share of the latter. Especially with his brother Rafe and his new soulmate in the crowd. Rafe had met her completely by accident at one of these fights, and she was perfect for him. Rafe had told him he’d suspected what she was to him right away—that the base of his horns had tingled. Now they were always together, and constantly seeing the strength of their bond was like having a knife repeatedly stabbed into Callan’s heart.

Callan was happy for his brother. He was. But now his own odds of finding his true mate were so low, a simmering anger stayed inside him at all times.

So, he’d been coming to this underground battle arena often, taking out his anger toward the world on preternaturals who could handle his immense strength. And fighting a demon like this—one who nearly matched him in strength—gave him the rush he was after.

Like Callan, this demon was well over six feet in height. He wasn’t as broad, his arms weren’t as heavily muscled, but he packed a heavy punch and despite bad knees could easily hold his own. His skin was gray in color, much darker than Callan’s, and his horns were at least six inches longer. He was probably as old as Callan at four hundred years. All in all, he offered the kind of powerhouse fighting Callan needed. His frustration levels had been too much to handle lately.

A fist rocketed toward Callan’s face; he barely had time to twist, making it glance off his jaw. He bit his tongue, blood filling his mouth again. This time, he spit it right in the demon’s face.

The demon shouted and attacked, punching hard and fast. Callan blocked with his forearms, the music of the crowd and the shouts of his brothers ringing in his ears. He spun around, landed a blow to the demon’s already broken nose before dancing out of reach as the demon swung wildly.

They both had morbid streaks of blood on their gray flesh, were both breathing hard. Adrenaline pumped through Callan’s veins, but in the next moment, he picked up on some of Rafe’s thoughts because he was giving his new mate a kiss.

I can’t keep my hands off her! She’s just so perfect for me. Fate chose well.

That just brought to mind why Callan was so angry. And because he was distracted, he missed a block, a hard fist slamming into his stomach. All the air left his body in a loud whoosh.

“Stay vigilant!” Bartholomew yelled.

Surprised Bart had used such a big word out loud, Callan made the mistake of looking in that direction, and his head snapped back from an unexpected blow that added another split to his lip.
Alaric Denman is determined not to let himself care for another human, especially not one like Ezra Forsberg. Ezra is a rich playboy without ambition, someone he could never respect. Why he’s intensely attracted to the man is beyond his understanding—but he is. So much so, it’s affecting his job to protect him.

Ezra isn’t sure who’s trying to kill him, but he has a pretty good idea. After growing up in one crime family and being forced to marry into another, his guess is his ex. He hires a bodyguard and gets a sexy elf. Yeah, he can see past the elf’s glamour, despite Alaric’s attempt to hide those elegantly pointed ears. But Alaric irks him with his stoic nature and he can’t resist poking at him.

While they’re busy clashing, a two million dollar price goes out on Ezra’s head, which brings out powerful preternaturals. Someone really wants Ezra dead, so it’s time they work together to figure out who.

Elf is a MM paranormal romance long novella with a reluctant elf, a snippy-mouthed human, and a soulmate passion that takes them both by surprise. It’s the second in the Mystic Guardians series, but can be read as a stand alone.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Alaric

“Nice haircut,” Alaric said as he crept up behind his friend and coworker, Finn, who was kneeling behind a one-ton truck in the warehouse parking lot.

Finn shrugged one shoulder. “Needed a change.” The jinn’s shock of bright auburn hair had been shaped into a faux-hawk with low tapered sides and a small lightning bolt shaved bare just over his ear. It suited his rugged good looks perfectly.

Alaric knelt beside Finn. “I can’t believe you cut all that long hair off at all. Thought you were as attached as Bain and Xavier are to theirs.” The Seattle winter was settling in, and the nights had grown considerably cooler—a time of the year Alaric loved. Tonight, the full moon hung high in the sky, and there were just enough lights working in the lot for him to see Finn clearly, as well as their target.

“I got sick of unclogging the drain.”

Alaric snorted; he had the same problem with his thick, shoulder-length black curls. He looked at the warehouse they planned to infiltrate. “How many are inside?” He glanced around the parking lot. They were in the midst of an industrial district of Seattle—nothing but concrete and brick as far as the eye could see. Not one tree. That could be problematic, if he used too much of his magical energy.

“At least three. I followed them here from the shipyard before I called Xavier and asked for backup. I could handle three myself, but I don’t know how many more were already inside. I thought he was sending Callan.”

“Callan apparently got arrested for a bar fight. Bain’s bailing him out.”

“I’m not surprised about the bar fight, but isn’t Bain supposed to be on some kind of honeymoon?”

“He came back early to take a job. Still can’t believe that uptight little accountant of his didn’t take one look at Bain’s flashy clothes and demand a replacement on the spot.”

“The basilisk may look like a disco ball, but he’s got serious skills.” Finn looked over his shoulder at Alaric. “You ready for this? I’m going in smoke, scouting ahead, and I’ll come back and let you know what we’re up against. They were all carrying heavy, so be ready to dodge.”

“Got it.”

Alaric watched as Finn’s solid form disappeared. He wasn’t like the other shapeshifters at their company, didn’t rip up clothes or go through the actual breaking and reshaping of limbs. He just faded away until nothing was left but vapor, then reformed as whatever form he wanted, animal or human. It was impressive magic and made him invaluable in all situations. Especially since he could conjure clothes in the process. None of the others could do that. Alaric had seen more than one shifter fighting naked.

Of course, Alaric didn’t shapeshift at all. He used a glamour to blend in with humans when needed, since his eyes and ears were most definitely preternatural, but his main purpose on any fighting job was not to infiltrate but to heal. An ability that came with a price unknown to most of his coworkers.

His boss knew, though. Xavier, the most powerful sorcerer Alaric had ever met, knew fucking everything. There was no hiding anything where that one was concerned. Finn knew as well because he’d seen the toll magic took on Alaric during past jobs.

Finn came back, formed long enough to wave him in, then re-vaped and disappeared. Alaric ducked and ran toward the side door that Finn had slipped under. The parking lot only had those few working lights, so it was easy to keep to the shadows. He quietly broke open the locked door and stepped inside the warehouse.

Boxes were stacked on ceiling-high shelves on either side of the aisle he faced. He made sure to keep his steps light on the concrete floor as he hurried down to the end. More shelves with boxes met his gaze. The overhead lights were bright, which made his job more difficult, but Alaric had many years of experience sneaking. He followed the sound of voices, easily making out more than three.

This wasn’t one of Finn’s usual jobs. Xavier had made it plain that not only did he want no survivors, but he’d also like them to suffer beforehand. No one who worked for Protective Solutions could stomach human trafficking, but Xavier, who had apparently witnessed some horrific things in his long life, was particularly bloodthirsty about shutting these rings down.

Which was why he’d called Alaric. He could throw spells that made a human or preternatural’s life a living nightmare. Perfect for a situation like this when the criminals deserved the worst.

He paused behind a stack of boxes and took in the scene, eyes zeroing in on the obvious man in charge—a surprisingly good-looking, tall man in a bespoke suit. He had shockingly white hair and a cold expression that betrayed a complete lack of empathy. Knowing what this man did set Alaric’s teeth on edge, but he resisted the urge to cast his planned intense nausea spell. It wasn’t yet time. Besides two men—wizards from their auras—stood on either side of the man. That was a complication he hadn’t expected. He’d have to rethink his strategy.
As a basilisk, Bain Ophion has lived over two hundred years. For the last ten, he’s worked for his best friend, a sorcerer who runs Protective Solutions. Bain loves his work as a bodyguard and especially loves proving his skills when clients take one look at him and doubt. Yeah, he may dress flashy and have androgynous looks, but he also comes with preternatural strength. Humans don’t know that, though. Because, like all his fellow bodyguards, he uses a glamour to hide what doesn’t blend. Most humans aren’t ready to know about the supernatural world around them, but he’s about to learn that there are a few who are special.

Clive Manning has no idea which of his new clients is threatening his life, but when they send someone to break into his home, he knows he can’t handle this alone. He lives a perfectly ordered life and works from home for a reason. Lifelong fear. He calls Protective Solutions and hires a bodyguard, and when that man shows up, Clive is shocked. He expected something like a man in black and instead, he got a rockstar.

But Clive is highly attracted to this colorful bodyguard and soon Bain proves he’s very good at his job…among other things.

Basilisk is a long novella with a sexy shapeshifter who’s stunned by his fierce attraction to an uptight accountant and the accountant who learns his lifetime of fear had good reason.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Bain

With only the slight glow of the moonlight streaming through tree branches, the forest had become a twisted maze, and Bain Ophion knew the man he chased was actually lost. Craig was the last person who should be. But pure terror had a way of fogging the mind. Of making a familiar reality morph into a surreal nightmare.

A red fox darted into his path, and he easily jumped it. Bain could clearly see in the dark, and he ran with sure feet, listening closely to the erratic pattern of the park ranger’s footsteps. The moss-covered ground was uneven, with fallen logs and wild tangles of broken branches making navigation a challenge, and more than once, he heard a heavy grunt as the asshole tripped.

Technically, Bain wasn’t supposed to be running down a murderer in Mount Rainier National Park. He was supposed to be guarding his actual client, Alisha. But Alisha was safely ensconced with one of his coworkers from Protective Solutions, so he’d felt justified in running the fucker down. An image of the way he and Alisha had found her sister raged in his head. Craig had killed the sister in the most twisted way possible, and Alisha had spent the night before curled into his side and sobbing.

The bastard had probably thought he’d have the advantage on familiar ground, at least until he’d become disoriented. What he didn’t know was that Bain could easily jump the tangled underbrush and pick out the smallest of creatures in the scant light. That he instinctively knew where he was in the world at all times and could find his way out of even the most elaborate maze. Craig had no idea what he was in for.

The footsteps abruptly stopped, and Bain spotted Craig up ahead, resting a hand on a thick hemlock trunk as he leaned over, panting. He twisted to look behind him, spotted Bain, and took off again.

Craig had taken one look at him and completely dismissed him. That happened a lot. Bain was built long and leanly muscular, wasn’t as bulky as a lot of his coworkers and friends, though he always ended up proving his skills. As a basilisk, he had superhuman strength and could shift into his alternate form and easily overtake Craig. But he wasn’t quite ready to reveal that side of him. It was amusing to see the utter shock in a human’s eyes when they tried to believe what they were seeing. Plus, he was having too much fun knowing the absolute terror Craig was feeling.

Craig deserved every moment of fear.

Growing tired of the chase, Bain sped up until Craig’s darting figure was only a few yards ahead. Snarling, he shot over the last bit of space and grabbed Craig by the hair, pulling him to an abrupt halt.

Craig squealed loudly as he lost his footing and fell to the ground. He hurriedly flipped to his back and began back-crawling, his expression full of panic. Bain flashed back to how they’d found Alisha’s sister, sprawled on the floor, blood pooling all around her and smeared in a trail of ragged handprints across her kitchen because she’d obviously tried crawling away from Craig. The police would need to analyze blood spatter, search for fingerprints, check alibis, but Bain had no such need. He had read the scents of the scene in an instant—pungent rage, acidic fear, and above all else the stench of Craig himself. He would have been the top suspect in any mundane investigation, but Bain’s knowledge was beyond human. He had all the proof he needed. This nasty excuse for a human had cut out her tongue, stabbed her multiple times and, in the end, slit her throat.

And he’d drawn it out as if he’d gotten off on her fear. Bain hadn’t seen that much blood since the last war he’d fought in. And Alisha’s utter horror, her consummate loss, had been stamped onto her features in an image he’d never forget. He’d only met the woman a few weeks before but had gotten to know her well enough to understand how much she’d loved her sister. She’d never completely recover.

Bain had no intention of letting Craig live, knowing he’d never stop until he killed the actual target of his wrath—Alisha.

“What the fuck do you want?” Craig panted out, the sweat on his face shining in the moonlight. He licked his lips, eyes wide with dread. Oh, he knew exactly what Bain wanted.

Bain slammed his foot down on Craig’s groin so hard Craig screamed. He kept his foot pressed there as he leaned over the writhing man. “You raped Alisha’s sister before you tortured her, didn’t you?” He knew the answer because he’d smelled it. Disgust fired in his belly as he pressed his foot down harder.

Craig twisted, trying desperately to get away but his strength was nowhere near Bain’s.
