He saves her life...she wrecks his sanity--a spicy, funny sci-fi romcom with grumpy/sunshine banter, forced proximity, and one very protective alien hero.

Sunny Craythorn has a problem.
Her Kindred bodyguard, Greer, does everything a man in love would do—ties her shoes, carries her over mud puddles, saves her from danger again and again. The only catch? He does it all with a scowl.

Greer knows he’s hopelessly gone for the curvy, sunshine-bright scientist he’s sworn to protect. But as a Pitch-Blood Kindred, his bite is painful to anyone but his Fated Mate—and since finding one is a billion-to-one shot, he’s resigned himself to wanting Sunny from afar.

Until their mission to Thropp’ic Sigma changes everything.
Here, the women choose their partners…topless. And when every male on the planet wants Sunny, Greer has no choice but to claim her as his. Even if it means proving his right in the most scandalous way possible—on the infamous Chair of Female Pleasure.

Now the grumpy protector is about to become the possessive alien lover—and Sunny’s about to learn just how sweet her scowling Kindred can be.

Perfect for fans of grumpy/sunshine romance, bodyguard protector heroes, forced proximity, only one bed, fated mates, and laugh-out-loud sci-fi spice

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

GREER

“Well, I understand this will be your final mission with us, Dr. Craythorn.” Commander Sylvan, head of the Kindred High Council, nodded formally at Dr. Soleil Craythorn—Sunny to her friends—who nodded back at him with a smile.

“Yes, I think I have enough research to write my paper now—or I will once we visit the Thropp’ians.” Her voice was light and sweet—exactly like her temperament. She even looked like a person whose name meant “sunshine,” Greer, her Kindred Protector thought, as he watched her from the corner of his eye.

Sunny Craythorn had a lovely heart shaped face framed with long, wavy hair that was the color of honey. She had big, meltingly brown eyes that were almost the same color as the Earth confection called “chocolate,” a pert little nose sprinkled with what the humans called “freckles”—though the Kindred called them “Goddess kisses”—and a pink, bow-shaped mouth that was almost always curved into a smile and looked entirely too kissable for Greer’s liking.

But it wasn’t just her adorable face or petite, curvy body that got under his skin—Sunny had a personality that matched her name. She was what the humans called an optimist—or, as Sunny herself put it—“I’m a glass is half full kind of person!” Which seemed to mean that she always looked on the bright side and saw the good in any situation—even when things went badly.

This was a good thing, because situations around Dr. Sunny Craythorn tended to go badly on a regular basis. And because her work required her to travel to other planets and meet alien people, the confusion that seemed to follow her everywhere she went was multiplied and compounded.

Sunny was a renowned academic on Earth and she was writing a paper entitled “Xeno-cultural Gender Roles and Societal Norms Contrasted and Compared in Five Separate Alien Societies.” She had let Greer read part of it but the fucking thing was full of academic language so dense it hurt his head.

It wasn’t that Greed was stupid—it was just that Sunny was extremely intelligent—brilliant even, he acknowledged to himself. But like many people who are intellectually gifted, she unfortunately wasn’t very practical. She lacked what the humans called “street smarts” which was what led to what Greer had privately dubbed “The Sunny Effect.”

For the past several solar months as the Kindred assisted with her research, Greer had been acting as her Protector and he had seen The Sunny Effect—the way things just seemed to go wrong around his Ward—over and over and over again.

It had started on the very first planet they had visited together—Rigel Four. The Rigellians worshipped a Sun Goddess and Sunny’s favorite color to wear just happened to be yellow—it brought out her golden skin tones and made her eyes look even more like pools of melted chocolate. Their final night on the planet, she had come to the Grand Banquet dressed in a long yellow gown with her hair fixed into a ceremonial gold corona that spiked around her head dramatically.

She explained to Greer later that she had seen what she thought was the local fashion at the Sun Goddess’s temple and had meant nothing by it. But the High Priest had accused her of impersonating the Goddess and attempting to get the entire Royal Court to worship her.

That had been a sticky situation and Greer had been forced to draw his blaster to get her out of there. To make matters worse, half of the Royal Court really did seem to want to worship her. They had gathered at Sunny’s feet, throwing cru’she blossoms—the little yellow flowers that represented the sun—and begging her to bless them and their first-born children and give them abundant crops and rich harvests.

“Release your breasts and bathe us with your Fertile Milk, oh Goddess!” they had been shouting and the whole time Sunny had been trying to explain that she didn’t have any “Fertile Milk” to give them because she didn’t have any children and she wasn’t lactating.

At the same time the High Priest had been shouting, “Imposter! Heretic!” and gesturing at her angrily.

Between the would-be worshipers and the angry High Priest and his guards, it had been extremely difficult to get away. But Greer was a professional—he had worked in the Kindred Elite Espionage Corps before becoming Sunny’s Protector and he had managed to get them out without a scratch—barely.

Sunny had apologized profusely but Greer hadn’t been mad at her—though he had been privately irritated at the huge mess. But it had been an accident, he told himself. Nothing to get too upset about. He was a stoic male—he could shake the incident off and move on.

But then, the accidents kept on happening…

On Prakus Prime, Sunny had fallen into the locals’ water reservoir after getting tipsy on a single sip of sweet Prakian gin. She’d been wearing clothing made of delicate pink and gold tissue-paper—as had Greer, since their hosts had made it clear they wouldn’t be welcome unless they dressed like the natives did.
A curvy human scientist. A deadly alien cyborg. One forbidden touch that changes everything.

After losing her friend—and her career—Dr. Corinne Virelle has been demoted to scrubbing floors on the deep-space station she once helped run. But when a Rogue Cyborg awakens in a violent fury, she’s the only one who can calm him… by Linking to him in the most intimate, forbidden way. Now, she belongs to him—body, mind, and soul.

K-lx isn’t just any cyborg. He’s the first of his kind—an alpha male hybrid of alien tech and Kindred DNA, programmed for war and wired for obsession. The moment he hears Corinne’s voice, something primal awakens inside possessiveness, desire… hunger. He doesn’t remember his past, but he knows one thing—she is his future. And no force in the galaxy will keep him from claiming her.

But falling for a Rogue Cyborg breaks every rule. Their bond is illegal, dangerous… and unstoppable. Especially when touching her is the only thing that keeps him sane—and keeping him sane may be the only thing that keeps her alive.

If you love possessive alien heroes, forbidden fated mates, protective cyborgs, forced proximity, curvy heroines, steamy sci-fi romance, and spicy Beauty and the Beast retellings with a dark twist… Linked to the Rogue Cyborg is your next obsession

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

CORINNE

The Rogue Alert came in the middle of the night but Dr. Corinne Virelle was still up. She hadn’t been able to sleep well for the past six months—ever since her demotion.

She was watching multiple screens displaying the science station—most of it was underground since the terraforming efforts had been halted due to lack of Company funding. Supposedly she was supervising the flock of cleaner-bots that were swarming over the station while most people slept. But it was a job the lowest AI could do—an insult to her intelligence. She had two advanced degrees in Robotics and Cyber-biology specializing in cybernetic organisms.

Yet the cleaning station was where she was—the place she’d been relegated to when C-17 had gone berserk and killed his Handler.

Corinne tried to push the bad memory away. The Handler had been Isla—her protégé and one of the few female scientists aboard the station. Her death left a hole both in the Cybernetics Division of the Company, and in Corinne’s heart. She had mentored the other woman for years and had been proud to see her rise to the position of Cyborg-Handler.

Cyborgs were necessary for the protection of the far-flung colonies the Company financed to expand scientific exploration…but they were also dangerously unpredictable and sometimes deadly. It was their human DNA that made them so difficult to deal with.

Some scientists wanted to return to pure robotics for deep-space protection, but since the AI uprising of the early 2030s back on Old Earth, that had been forbidden. By law, any free-ranging robotic organism had to have a biological component to balance its mechanical side. It was thought that the emotional element would temper the pure logic of the mechanism. But all too often, it was emotion that caused a Cyborg to go Rogue.

It was Corinne’s firm belief that this was why female Handlers were better than male Handlers. When it came to dealing with big emotions, women were simply better at it than men. And since Cyborgs were invariably male, they often responded to a woman’s touch. It was one reason she had mentored Isla and tried to bring other women scientists into the Cybernetics Division of the Company.

But all her work was being destroyed now. The new Head of the Cybernetics Division was trying to get around the Cyborgs’ emotions instead of dealing with them head-on. The last Corinne had heard, he was advocating for growing the biological components in flesh tanks and artificial wombs instead of using wounded and dying veterans and adding mechanical components, which was the usual practice.

Currently half of the station’s defense force was guarded by these soulless monsters but they were too stupid to comprehend orders half the time. At least, that was what Dr. Jose Herrera, one of her few remaining contacts in the Division, told her.

It was Jose who was calling her now.

“Rogue Alert! Rogue Alert!” His voice sounded panicked over her intercom. “Dr. Virelle, please respond!”

She leaned forward and waved a hand over the interface to allow his holo-image to form. He looked as panicked as he sounded—his thinning hair was sticking up like he’d been running his fingers through it and his eyes were wide under the thick oculars he wore.

“Corinne, can you hear me?” he demanded.

“Loud and clear,” she assured him. “What’s wrong? Which Unit went Rogue? Is it C-17 again?”

The killer Cyborg was much too expensive to be scrapped—even though it had “caused a loss of human life” as the Company euphemistically put it. But once a Cyborg went Rogue, it was twice as likely to happen again. Even with reprogramming, memory wipes, and reconditioning, it simply wasn’t safe. Not that the Company would listen to any kind of reason on the subject—they weren’t going to retire an asset they’d poured millions of credits into just because it had killed a human or two.

But to her surprise, Jose shook his head.

“No, it’s a new Unit—or rather, an old one.”

“Explain.” Corinne frowned and pushed a sheaf of wavy, reddish-brown hair behind one ear.

“The exploration team found a Stasis tube on a crashed ship, drifting in from the Outer Rings,” Jose explained. They brought it in because the organism inside was still alive. We believe it’s one of the old K-units—the ones that used Kindred warriors as the biological components for their Cyborgs.”

Corinne frowned.

“That would have to be hundreds of years old. The Kindred protected Earth back before the AI Uprising.”

“Exactly. And those things were built like tanks because the Kindred were so much bigger than humans. The team thought it would have valuable knowledge stored in its memory unit but when they opened the Stasis tube, it went berserk. Look!”

Jose pointed the com-unit he was using at the main lab and Corinne sucked in her breath.

Past the glass barrier that enclosed the lab, an absolutely huge Cyborg was going berserk. His mechanical arms were working as he grabbed equipment that would be much too heavy for a human or even another Cyborg to lift and threw it over his head. Already there was a spiderweb of cracks in the supposedly unbreakable safety glass—she wondered how much longer it could hold out.
What if your only chance at survival was to buy a dangerous alien as your bodyguard?

Serenai is in terrible danger and utterly alone. After her mother’s sudden, suspicious death, she’s summoned to Yonnie Six to claim her title—a position she’s completely unprepared for. Raised in a convent, Serenai has no idea how to be a Yonnite Mistress… or how to handle the red-eyed shadow stalking her every move.

Desperate for protection, she purchases the biggest, fiercest Kindred warrior she can find to serve as her bodyguard… and her bodyslave. She tells herself Brax is just there to keep her safe. She doesn't intend to fall for the scarred, deadly alien with the pale, deadly eyes and the sinful touch.

Brax has spent ten brutal years as a slave in the Blood Circuit, fighting for survival. The moment he sees Serenai—with her luscious curves, sweet innocence, and soft brown eyes—he knows she belongs to him. He’ll fight anyone and anything to protect her, even the dark creature stalking her… even the ancient curse tied to her mother’s death.

But when Brax is forced to risk everything—including his freedom and his life—to save the woman he’s come to love, will their story end in heartbreak… or in a passion that breaks all bounds?

Breaking the Bloodstone Curse is a scorching alien bodyguard romance filled with spice, danger, fated mates, forced proximity, protective alpha heroes, mystery, and thrilling twists. Perfect for fans of possessive Kindred warriors, spicy tension, and steamy happily ever afters

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

SERENAI

It was in the room with her again—Serenai could see its red eyes glowing. And this time she was sure it wasn’t a dream.

“Oh Goddess, please,” she whispered, her throat tight with fear. The evil red eyes were floating there in the darkness at the foot of her bed but what if they came closer? Just last night, she’d seen them by the wardrobe and the night before that they had been over by the door. It seemed they got closer every time!

She’d been sure she was having nightmares before, but now there was no doubt—she was wide awake and something—some evil creature—was in the room with her. It wasn’t just that she could see it—she could sense its presence—a malevolent force filled with hatred and rage and all of it was directed at her.

Serenai pulled the covers over her head and huddled in the stuffy darkness, praying the evil thing with the red eyes wouldn’t try to follow her there. She had never felt more alone and frightened in her life than she did now, curled up in the middle of the vast, ornate bed she’d inherited from her mother.

The bed wasn’t the only thing she’d inherited from her mother—she now had a vast estate here on Yonnie Six. She owned a dream gas mine and also an entire, sleek skyscraper in the middle of downtown Opulex, the capital city of the entire planet. She was rich beyond the wildest dreams of avarice…and yet she’d never felt more unhappy, unsafe, and alone.

It wasn’t just the thing with the glowing red eyes that made her feel that way—though it certainly didn’t help. Being the sole heir of the late, fearsome Mistress Bloodlash came with a lot of responsibility—responsibility that Serenai hadn’t been trained for.

She’d spent her entire life on Peaceful Prime—a small, backwater planet mostly populated by religious sects devoted to meditation. Serenai had been raised in the Convent of Sacred Serenity where the motto was: Modesty, Purity, and Integrity. It was inscribed over the stone archway at the entrance to the Convent as well as into the hearts and minds of all the girls that were raised there.

The population of Sacred Serenity was almost entirely female. Days there were spent in studying, working in the vegetable garden, and meditation. Everyone wore modest clothing, spoke softly, and was in bed before nine on any given night.

Such an upbringing hardly qualified Serenai to replace her mother, who had been one of the most ruthless Mistresses on all of Yonnie Six. She had ruled her empire with an iron fist and disciplined her subordinates with a pain-lash that left lasting scars. Serenai had seen them on the servants—some of them even had cruel, curling scars of her late mother’s whip on their faces, disfiguring them permanently.

Such sights made the tender-hearted Serenai feel sick to her stomach. She had no idea how her mother could have treated people with such cruelty. The very idea of wielding a pain-lash was horrifying to her. Almost as horrifying as the glowing red eyes at the foot of her bed.

She risked taking a peek out from under the covers, hoping the eyes would have disappeared. But no…they were still there, glowing a malevolent scarlet. She had no idea what that creature was, but she could still feel that air of malice emanating from it. Clearly it wished her harm.

Serenai dipped back under the covers again, shivering miserably. She wished she was back on Peaceful Prime in the Convent. Safe in the dormitory with the other girls, she never felt lonely or afraid. And she never felt like people were looking down on her or comparing her with her mother, either.

Here in her mother’s penthouse suite—which took up the top five floors of the massive skyscraper she now owned—she felt like everyone who saw her was measuring her against the former Mistress Bloodlash…and finding her lacking.

But I wasn’t trained for this! she thought resentfully. How can I know how to run all of Mother’s business ventures and rule over her empire when nobody ever taught me anything but modesty and humility?

She believed that her mother had intended to train her—probably a few years after she came of age. But she’d died suddenly and unexpectedly, leaving Serenai to fend for herself.

Well, at least she was of age and didn’t need a proctor to oversee everything. Although honestly, it would have been nice to have a guiding hand. She felt so lost and alone…and so frightened.

I need someone to help me—someone to protect me, she thought. Her first choice would have been to get one of the girls she’d grown up with at the Convent to come stay with her. But none of them had any idea of how to live such a radically different lifestyle either. It would have been the blind leading the blind. Also, how could another girl protect her from the red-eyed threat that had invaded her room?

“But surely there has to be something—some therapy you haven’t tried. Some experimental drug trial I could get Anna into,” she protested.

He shook his head again.

“I’m afraid that Pulmonary Crystalosis is still such a new and rare disease we just don’t have many tools to fight it with. And your daughter—or is she your niece?”

“She’s my niece but I adopted her when my sister—her mother—died,” Nora said tightly. “So yes, she’s also my daughter.”

“Well, as you can see, the PC has spread throughout Anna’s lungs.”

Dr. Patel pointed to the light board where Anna’s latest X-rays hung. The darker shape of her small, bird-like chest enclosed two lighter lungs. And growing in each of the lungs was what looked like a delicate, crystalline tree with spreading branches. The one on the right was barely a sapling but the one in the left lung had blossomed into a beautiful tree in full bloom.

Beautiful and deadly, Nora thought bitterly. Anna’s X-ray looked like a work of art but it was a harbinger of her eventual doom.

No, I can’t think that way—I can’t. There must be a way to save her! I can’t lose her, not after what happened to Cora!

Cora had been Nora’s identical twin—and her opposite in every way. Nora was a paralegal with a buttoned-down nine-to-five job, a 401K, and a boring but stable relationship. Or she had been in a relationship until The Crash, anyway—which was how she thought of the accident that had taken her sister’s life. But that was a whole different story.

Cora had been beautiful and reckless—a free spirit and an artist. In short, everything Nora was not. She had no idea who Anna’s father was—and she didn’t care either, despite how scandalized their mother had been when she announced she was pregnant and keeping the baby. She’d dragged her daughter around the world on various adventures as she designed dresses and outfits for famous fashion influencers and lived the life of an itinerant artist.

Nora didn’t know where her sister had gotten her artistic flair. She herself couldn’t even sew a button on straight and her usual wardrobe consisted of modest gray and black skirts with plain button-down shirts and low, sensible heels. But despite their differences she had loved her twin sister fiercely and that love extended to her niece.

Anna had been only five at the time of The Crash. She had cried nightly for her mother and Nora had done her best to hold her and reassure her that everything would be all right, even though she felt broken inside herself. Even though they had rarely seen each other, she and Cora had texted and Face-timed multiple times a day—she felt lost without her twin.

Gradually, Anna had gotten through the worst of her grief and settled into her new life with Nora. Luckily, Nora lived close to her mother, who was able to help out by picking Anna up after school. Anna loved spending time with her “Grammie”—the two of them made cookies and watched Disney movies together.

Nora had gotten used to being a single mom too. She’d been in a stable relationship for five years prior to The Crash, but Cora’s death changed all of that. After she’d been granted sole custody of Anna, her fiancé Steve had decided he didn’t want to be a dad.

“We agreed not to have children—no kids, that was one of our core relationship goals,” he’d pointed out after the funeral when Anna was asleep in the other room—his office, which he disliked giving up, even for a little while. “You can’t break the agreement and expect me to go along for the ride.”

Nora didn’t give a damn about their “agreement” at that point. She was still grieving for her beautiful, erratic, artistic sister who she’d lost in an instant, and trying to find a way to make a life for her niece.

“Fine—go,” she’d said dismissively.

Steve had looked at her with wide, shocked eyes.

“So that’s it? You’re telling me to get out? We’re supposed to get married in two months! The venue’s already booked…the cake is ordered…the guest list—”

“I don’t give a damn about any of that,” Nora snapped, rounding on him. “Right now my priority is Anna. If you don’t want to help me raise her, then fine—you can go.”

“But what about your mother?” Steve protested. “Why can’t she raise the kid? She’s retired after all—she has plenty of time.”

“My mother is getting older and she’s frail—she can help watch Anna after school but she can’t take her full time,” Nora told him. “Besides, I love Anna—she’s all I have left of my twin! Of course I’m going to raise her, not try to pawn her off on someone else. Cora left her to me—she’s mine now and I take care of what’s mine.”
He was meant to protect her…now he might destroy her...

Kross has known Sylvia is his Fated Mate from the moment they met. But as a Hybrid, he can’t Bond—so he pushes her away with sarcasm, hiding how badly he wants her. Now they're part of his latest experiment… and escaping might mean giving in to the one thing they’ve both been their feelings for each other.
Can they break free before they're Forced to Mate by the Mad Scientist?

*Author's Note--there is a scene in this Enemies to Lovers, Bodyguard Romance book that might be disturbing to anyone who has experienced SA in the past but it has to do with a robot, not the hero of the book. Please read responsibly

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

SYLVIE

“I hate him! I mean it—I can’t stand that big asshole!” Doctor Sylvia Cooper snarled, throwing her hairbrush across the room.

“Take it easy there, doll,” Kat said dryly as the hairbrush landed against the metal wall of Sylvia’s suite hard enough to make a dull clang sound. “If you throw that any harder we’re going to have a hull breach on our hands.”

Of course, it would take more than a hairbrush to breach the hull of the Kindred Mother Ship but Sylvie took her friend’s point. Taking a deep breath, she went to pick up the brush and continued brushing her long, wavy hair. It was what you might call strawberry blonde or rose-gold and she had both the freckles and the temper to match her coloring.

“I know I shouldn’t let him get to me,” she said to Kat, who was watching with her arms crossed and one eyebrow raised. “It’s just that I have to spend so much time with him! Why couldn’t Commander Sylvan have assigned me to some other Protector?”

Kat shrugged.

“Dunno. I’m sure he didn’t have any idea that you and Kross would clash like this.”

Kross was Sylvie’s Protector—a seven-foot-tall Hybrid Kindred warrior who was half Beast Kindred and half Blood Kindred. He also had some Skellax blood in him—a very rare alien race that had very few people.

Being part Skellax meant that Kross had dark gray skin, silver hair, and eyes that changed colors depending on his mood. Whenever he was around Sylvia they were almost always red, which she was fairly certain meant he was angry or irritated with her.

If so, the feeling was mutual. Kross was constantly complaining that she wanted to go to unsafe planets for her research and bitching about the fact that she was “reckless” and “putting herself in danger.”

Which was ridiculous, of course, Sylvie thought, as she pulled the brush through her hair in short, irritated jerks. She had a double PhD in Xeno-Botany and Xeno-Zoology with a minor in pharmacology, which meant she went to different alien words to find plants and animals that might have medicinal benefits. Sure, sometimes the plants grew in dangerous areas and the animals were difficult to handle, but that was just part of her job. And it was Kross’s job to protect her—without complaining.

It might have been different if he’d been the silent, growly type but it was worse—he was sarcastic and his remarks always bit her to the bone. He got under her skin like no other man ever had. They’d only been working together for a few months and already Sylvie was ready to ditch him for some other Kindred—any other Kindred. And their last mission together had only cemented that sentiment in her mind.

Closing her eyes as she brushed her hair, Sylvie remembered the humiliating episode…

2

SYLVIE

It had been on Minerva Twelve—a swampy planet that was barely habitable in the C’rex’or System. Sylvie had heard tales of a certain leech native to the bogs and swamps of the planet that secreted a numbing solution that rivaled any other topical painkiller. She had been determined to collect some for her research, even though Kross pointed out that the swamps of Minerva Twelve were home to dangerous Xaimons—or “water dragons” as the natives called them.

“They get up to ten meters long!” he’d growled, when he was trying to talk her out of the mission. “They have teeth as long as my fucking forearm. Any one of them could eat your curvy little body in a single bite, Princess!”

That was another thing Sylvie hated—his sarcastic nicknames for her. He was always calling her “Princess” or “Your Majesty” and being elaborately and sarcastically deferential when she insisted on doing her job correctly. And yes, that might mean going to some places that weren’t strictly safe, but Sylvie refused to let herself be intimidated. She followed the science and collected her specimens wherever they were, and so far she’d always been fine. Well, except for a few minor mishaps, she admitted to herself.

“Don’t call me Princess,” she’d snapped at Kross. “And the fact that the Xaimons are so big, means they won’t be able to go in shallow water. As long as I stay in the shallows, I’ll be fine. Don’t worry—you won’t have to get your precious boots dirty—you can just stand on the bank and watch.”

That was another thing about Kross—he was very particular about his appearance. His clothes were always the latest fashion. Even his Kindred uniform which consisted of a long-sleeved maroon shirt with gold buttons and tight-fitting black trousers tucked into high black boots, always seemed to be perfectly tailored to his tall, muscular frame.

Kross had scowled at her, allowing his irritation to break through the cool, sarcastic demeanor for once.

“If you go in the water, I go in the water—that’s the way it is, Princess. You know that.” His eyes flashed red with irritation as he spoke.
A vacation at a luxurious Alien Resort sounds wonderful...until Kara is kidnapped and sold to a brothel. Will her Kindred coworker, J'orn, reach her in time?

What do you do when you meet your soul mate…and she refuses to believe you belong together? J’orn is a seven-foot-tall Kindred warrior and that’s his dilemma. He’s been in love with Kara from the start, but because she’s older than him, she won’t even consider him as a romantic interest. But then she buys an economy ticket to Paradise Prime and ends up sitting in his lap during the journey. J’orn tries to warn her of the Kidnapping ring operating there, but she refuses to listen.

Kara can’t believe she has to sit on J’orn’s lap all the way to Paradise Prime! She’s not worried when he warns her of the Kidnapping ring he’s going to investigate because she’s booked at a women-only resort. But what happens when he has to pose as her massage therapist in order to catch the kidnappers and the massage has a *very* happy ending?
You’ll have to read this older woman/younger man, coworkers-to-lovers, spicy age gap romance to find out!

*Author's Note--this is book 2 in my Kindred Spicy Shorts series. These books are all stand alone novellas set in my Kindred Tales universe and can be read in any order.
Hugs and Happy Reading!
Evangeline

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

KARA

“And now we’ll be boarding all of our Ultra Express Economy passengers,” the flight attendant said. “Passengers boarding the shuttle to Paradise Prime holding Ultra Express Economy tickets, please come forward.”

“Finally!” Kara muttered. She brushed a long strand of dark brown hair out of her eyes and looked down at her ticket. It was printed on shiny silver foil in an alien language she could read only because she’d had a shot of Translation Bacteria when she came to work aboard the Kindred Mother Ship.

The Kindred were huge alien warriors—most of them over seven feet tall and all extremely muscular. They were also a race that was ninety-five percent male, which meant they were always traveling the universe, looking for women to Bond and mate with. They had come to Earth almost fifteen years ago, and now their Mother Ship orbited the Moon. By an arrangement with the World Council, they were allowed to call human brides.

But Kara hadn’t come to the Mother Ship as anyone’s bride. She had already been married when she took a job as the head of one of the Kindred’s PR teams. Because the Kindred were so big and muscular, a lot of humans were scared of them. Kara’s team did what they could to make the huge aliens more accessible and friendly, so the women who were called as Kindred brides wouldn’t be frightened.

Kara loved her job, but her husband—now her ex-husband—hadn’t liked it at all. He had been extremely insecure about the fact that Kara was working with such big, muscular guys all day and accused her of trying to find a replacement for him.

This was absolutely untrue, but Kara had to admit she could see why Kevin, her ex, would feel that way. The Kindred were big and rugged and handsome and they treated women like goddesses. It didn’t help that she’d been given a gorgeous assistant who was willing to wait on her hand and foot and do whatever she asked as soon as she asked it.

She’d tried inviting J’orn—that was her assistant’s name—to dinner with herself and Kevin one night…but that had only made things worse. Kara had been trying to prove that her assistant was no threat to their marriage—after all, he was way too young for her, as she had repeatedly pointed out to Kevin. Just because he was seven feet tall and his muscles had muscles didn’t make him a threat—right?

Wrong, unfortunately. J’orn spent the whole night doing everything Kevin couldn’t be bothered to do. When Kara dropped her napkin, he bent down to pick it up. When her shoe came untied, he dropped to his knees to tie it. He even brought a bottle of expensive wine and a bouquet of her favorite flowers—lilacs—to dinner because he said he’d heard it was an “Earth custom.”

Kevin, who hadn’t bothered to bring her flowers in several years, most definitely felt threatened. Especially when J’orn had come into the kitchen and started helping with the meal. Kevin could barely make himself a sandwich but the big Kindred had expertly julienned vegetables for the salad and then helped make the pan sauce for the chicken dish Kara was cooking.

Her assistant had also brought the ingredients for a quick chocolate mousse because he happened to remember it was Kara’s favorite. He whipped it up in no time flat and they had it for dessert.

Kara had to admit it was the best chocolate mousse she’d ever had—but it wasn’t worth the fighting that followed. Kevin accused her of liking J’orn better than him just because he “sucked up” to her.
What happens when two coworkers are trapped in a Magic Christmas Cabin determined to make them act out romance tropes?

What can you do when you work with the woman of your dreams…but you know you can never have her? That’s Klaus’s predicament. He’s a grumpy Beast Kindred warrior assigned to be the protector of a curvy little human named Kelli. He thinks his gorgeous coworker is out of reach…until the two of them get assigned to stay in a couple’s Christmas Cabin designed by alien researchers interested in holiday mating habits.

Kelli has no idea her huge, grumpy Kindred Protector is in love with her. But she’s about to find out when they get to the cabin where Holiday Romance is the priority. Once they get snowed in, all bets are off and the spicy shenanigans begin! What happens when the cabin makes them kiss under the mistletoe or forces them to take a shower together? How about when the couch disappears and there’s only one bed? And that’s not even counting the naughty outfits the cabin provides them to wear.

Will Kelli and Klaus survive being Trapped in the Christmas Cabin or will their work relationship turn into something a lot more intimate? You’ll have to read this grumpy/sunshine, coworkers to lovers, spicy sci-fi romance novella to find out!

Author's Note--this little novella is the first in my new series of Kindred Tales Spicy Shorts. Sometimes I have an idea that isn’t long enough to be a whole novel, but I want to write it anyway. And I know that sometimes you just want a short, spicy book that doesn’t take a week to read. I hope you’ll enjoy this new series which I’ll add to whenever I have one of those short ideas. And if you have an idea you think would make a great spicy short, come find me on FB or Insta—I love to talk to readers!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

KLAUS

“Can’t believe I have to wear this!” Klaus’ex looked down at himself in disgust. “It looks ridiculous—I’m too old for this shit!”

The outfit he was wearing was a red coat and trousers, both trimmed in white fur. Black boots, a wide black belt with a silver buckle, and a long white beard all went with the red and white suit, but Klaus absolutely refused to wear the beard.

“You look great as Santa!” his companion protested. “I mean, if Santa was seven feet tall and muscular. Actually, you look more like a sexy, stripper Santa than the traditional kind,” she added with a musical laugh. “And don’t say you’re too old—Santa is supposed to be old. That’s why he has a long white beard. Besides, your name is Klaus—how much more perfect could it be?”

“My name is pronounced like ‘house’—not like your mythological present giver, whose name sounds more like ‘claws’,” Klaus pointed out, glaring down at her.

Kelli Davis was a Good Will Ambassador for the Kindred Mother Ship, where they both lived and worked and she was always “looking on the bright side” of things as she put it. She was what the humans called a “glass is half full” kind of person—an optimist, in other words.

Klaus was the exact opposite. Ever since his wife had died ten years before, he had seen only the dark side of life. Being paired with Kelli as her Protector could be trying at times—especially when she attempted to put a positive spin on what was obviously a negative situation. Or, if not exactly negative, then at least extremely fucking annoying, he amended to himself.

“I don’t want to be Santa and I don’t see why it’s fucking necessary,” he growled.

“That’s what the Questarions asked for,” she reminded him. “I’m dressed as Santa’s Elf and you don’t see me complaining even though I’m way too old for this outfit.” She spun around in a little circle and grinned up at him, looking annoyingly adorable, Klaus thought.

He had to admit she looked great in the outfit their alien benefactors had sent. The dark green dress molded to her full curves and the red and white striped stockings looked great on her legs. Her long dark brown hair—which looked wine-red in the sunlight—was in loose waves around her shoulders and her big gray eyes were gorgeous. Not to mention the fact that her softly curving lips looked incredibly kissable…

Klaus had to make himself look away for a minute—damn it, why did she have this effect on him? He was supposed to be her Protector when she went on goodwill missions for the Mother Ship—that was all. He didn’t want to be attracted to her.

He didn’t want to, but he was.

For the whole past year, since she had been assigned to him, Klaus had been fighting his feelings. Feelings he hadn’t had to deal with for ten long years, since Miranda had died. After he lost his wife to a quick-acting and incurable cancer he had made a sacred vow that he would never even look at another woman again. That part of him was dead and buried—he was sure. And for ten years, it seemed he was right—he had no interest in anyone female.
