FURY.

Red hot.

Scalpel sharp.

Motherfucking fury.

I was its prisoner, master, and king.

It bowed to me, crippled me, and twined around my veins as I sank deeper into the sea.

Fury.

An emotion as familiar to me as the warm ocean sucking me down. A feeling I’d always tried to harness, expel, and ignore. I’d failed on multiple occasions. I’d kneeled beneath its sinister sufferings and existed with silent loathing within my heart, but now...

Fuck.

Now...I no longer turned away from the shooting shards of hate. I welcomed the acidic contempt. I turned my back on humanity and permitted fury to strip me of everything I’d been. To delete my failures. To erase my past. To leave me empty apart from one deeply dangerous thing.

Eleanor...

I jerked beneath the sea.

He took her.

Fury!

I welcomed the poison.

The heinous howl for blood.

Eleanor!

My fury grew again.

My bones snapped with it.

My heart smoked with it.

My entire world was soaked in rage-dripping FURY!

It mutated the water around me.

It sent shockwaves through the sea, no longer living within me but surrounding me, choking me.

Eleanor...

I opened my mouth and screamed.

Bubbles shot from my lips.

Oxygen poured from bruised lungs.

And another kind of darkness encroached.

A darkness that promised to strangle me if I didn’t find her, free her, kill him.

That was my only purpose now.

Kill.

Kill my brother.

Kill Drake.

Drake.

Motherfucking Drake.

He has her.

He took her.

He’ll DIE.

The surface twinkled above, showing me the way to my vengeance.

My fists curled underwater.

My wounded eyes blinked in the salt.

And my fury morphed from emotion to element.

Blazing fire and howling gales—a tsunami beneath me, churning up the sea floor. I was mayhem. I was unchained.

I’m free.

Fury was no longer just a feeling but an offshoot of every disaster I wielded.

Magic.

Black magic.

Dark magic.

A magic that would extract its payment in souls.

Drake’s soul.

FURY.

His blood would flow.

His bones would snap.

His life squeezed to nothingness in my fist.

The man I’d been sank to the bottom of the ocean—useless to me now, a hindrance, a weakling who’d been afraid of his power.

A god who hadn’t been able to protect his goddess.

I was no longer divine.

I was no longer human.

I was a vampire thirsting for blood.

I was hell.

I was death.

I. Am. Fury.

Chapter One

SULLY.

His fall into the ocean was on repeat inside my head.

Tripping out the door.

Plummeting down, down, down.

My heart squeezed each time his splash replayed.

A splash and then...nothing.

My thoughts weren’t in my body, locked on Drake’s lap, skimming over the sea, but back there. Back where Sully had fallen. Where he’d disappeared. Where we’d been separated against our will.

Sully...please.

Almost an hour had passed.

The longest, nightmarish hour since I’d last seen him.

Since I knew he was alive...

“Descending,” the pilot yelled over the din. “Found it.”

The pilot’s voice brought me back; Drake’s legs tensing beneath mine ripped me from my wonderings.

I glanced out the window, shuddering as Drake’s hold on me tightened.

Monyet.

The island with a large laboratory hidden within its paradise, pumping out drugs that went above and beyond aphrodisiacs, creating who knew what else within its walls.

Sully...are you okay?

My mind split down the middle. It now had the ability to focus on my plight while staying firmly on Sully’s in my past.

It was like staring into two mirrors.

A mirror angled behind me—a portal to a man who I begged to rise from the sea. And another angled on my present—revealing unfolding events taking me farther and farther away from him.

“About fucking time,” Drake muttered as the helicopter engines cut off mid-screech, the rotors slowing down the moment we touched land.

I shuddered again, overflowing with disgust as Drake pushed me off his lap and onto the seat beside him.

For fifty minutes or so, the pilots had skimmed over Sully’s empire, peering at each island, trying to figure out which one housed a lab. Unfortunately, it’d become fairly obvious as darkness descended, and lights spangled below.

The smaller islands with no inhabitants were easy to discount, followed by those with smaller populations performing whatever tasks Sully had set for them to do. Monyet was at least twice the size of Serigala, and directly in the centre of a fortified encampment. Ringed with fences and palm trees, it sat in a well-lit facility reeking of scientific dealings.

“We’re on the main helipad within the barbwire perimeter,” the older pilot said. “They’ll have heard us arrive. Better figure out your story, quick.”

“I don’t need a story,” Drake said. “This is family owned, and I’m family. Therefore, it’s mine, and everything inside is mine.”

“Nothing is yours,” I snapped. “You’re a thief.”

He chuckled, his eyes still tight with fatigue from his indulgence with elixir. “Thief? I prefer to be called an opportunist.”

“Bastard suits you more.”

He shrugged. “I don’t mind that one.” He looked out the window, eyeing up the lab he’d come to raid.

Drake had been bold and uncaring that he trespassed. He’d stolen so much from Sully already...and now, his thievery would continue on a different island.

Sully...

I hugged myself as goosebumps decorated me.
Sully Sinclair did the impossible. He gave his trust to a goddess who has the ultimate power to break him. Unfortunately, paradise is just an illusion, his islands aren’t impenetrable, and now he has to pay the price.

SULLY SINCLAIR USED MASKS and murky morality to hide who he truly was. Our first meeting painted him as the villain, the procurer of women, and the ruthless mogul of his Goddess Isles.

However, day by day, spark by spark, his masks slipped, one by one, revealing that I wasn’t a lunatic to fall head over heels for such a monster. I was justified because he was worthy.

Worthy of trust and love and a happily ever after.

I wanted to fight for that. To give him that. To give him me.

But...all things worth fighting for demanded pain.

Pain that sometimes cost far too much.

I wished we’d been immune to such a trial.

I wished Sully was an only child.

I wished he didn’t have a brother called Drake Sinclair.

Where Sully wore devilishness to hide his decency, Drake wore decency to hide his devilishness. He was Satan walking amongst goddesses. Lucifer with no redemption. Pure evil in Sully’s paradise.

And what was worse?

He ruined it all.

The spark, the bond, the happily ever after.

Sully made me come alive.

Drake made me want to die.

He stole everything.

He killed everything.

He murdered...us.

Chapter One

“EVERYTHING YOU LOVE DIES, Sinclair. Everything you treasure is gone. That’s your true curse. The one you can never run from.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose, doing my best to squeeze out the voice of my nightmare. The nightmare I’d had just before the bomb destroying Serigala ripped me awake.

I’d hoped the warning was some version of closure from my distrusting brain, throwing the masks of my past in my face, freeing me from lies and deceptions. A strange kind of acceptance that I was in love, that I’d felt joy, that I’d been happy mere hours before this shitstorm came knocking.

But I was wrong.

It’d been the opposite.

I couldn’t shed those masks because they were a part of me. They were my armour against a world I could no longer survive in. They were my tools to reap death and decay on those who deserved it.

Those masks were the walls between Eleanor and our forever, condemning me with the truth that I was fucking delusional to think I could keep her, suicidal to give my heart to her, and utterly demented to think I could claim hers in return.

I’d done this.

I’d fallen for her and fallen from my power.

I’d adopted, rehabilitated, and nursed so many innocent creatures, and now they were chum in the sea, mangled paws and broken tails, missing ears and blown apart skulls.

I’d made a promise to keep them safe.

Safe?

Christ, my safety came with extermination.

Nothing was safe around me.

Nothing.

Especially not her.

Three hours.

He gave me three hours to save her.

My disgusting, gore-painted hands curled into fists as I leaned back and bashed my head against the plush helicopter upholstery.

Eleanor.

It didn’t matter if I had three hours or three years, it was all the same—just a matter of time before I hurt her.

If I keep her...she’ll die.

It was inevitable.

Inescapable.

My nightmare wasn’t closure...it was a forewarning.

An omen filled with premonition and intuition that no matter how much time passed, no matter how hard I tried to find redemption, I hadn’t been forgiven by fate.

I hadn’t earned her.

I’d never earn her because I’d never fucking change.

I liked my life. I hoarded my privacy. I enjoyed playing with myths and falsities.

I was just as bad as the guests who visited.

I was owed no singular forgiveness for what I was. I wasn’t any worse or better than my brethren. My one saving grace was I preferred the animal kingdom over my own and tried to buy better karma through their protection.

And I kept failing fucking spectacularly at it.

Humans were the disease. Animals were the pharmacon.

Eleanor was human.

I was human.

Drake was human.

And because Drake was a psychotic bastard, and I was a love-struck fool, and Eleanor was a girl trapped by me, we all had blood on our hands. We were all responsible for this animal carnage because Eleanor had distracted me from my calling, Drake had found my weakness, and I...

I’d been too busy being fucking happy to notice.

Fuck!

Groaning with fresh nausea, I glowered out the helicopter window. Down below with black-shrouded oceans and star-dusted shores, life went on, things got eaten, new life was birthed, and a goddess existed who’d almost convinced me of the impossible.

The impossibility of us.

I bent forward again, digging hands through my hair, not caring that I spread viscera and biohazard, contaminating every part of me. Yesterday, I’d been making sarcastic quips to Jinx in Nirvana. I’d felt joy. I’d laughed. I’d indulged.

I’d forgotten about everyone and everything.

I’d allowed the very thing that I despised about the human race to intoxicate me.

I’d become selfish.

I’d become greedy and narcissistic—only thinking of my life, my lust, my love.

I’d given in to every dream and fantasy I had, thinking I could finally have peace.

And now...

I snarled in the din of helicopter blades. Fury tangled with loss, despair blended with violence, and every wall I’d dropped, every mask I’d shed, every denial I’d erased stabbed me with a thousand blades.
Sully Sinclair suffers the same affliction. He’s falling for a goddess who will never earn his trust or his heart if he can help it. However, he wasn’t prepared for the lengths she’d go. How far she’d push to either stop such a bond or kill them both trying.

My brother had taught me that.

From my first memory, I’d known spontaneity would get me killed. Laugh, and I might get punched. Speak, and I might get kicked. Drop my guard and forget, and I would almost certainly be punished.

That lesson stayed with me throughout childhood, growing from self-preservation into utmost law. It didn’t just engrain itself on my psyche; it grabbed a brand, stuck it in a fire, and seared into my every cell.

I didn’t do reckless. I didn’t do impulsive. Every step in my life had been premeditated, planned, and controlled.

Until one night, when I’d had a dream about a place called Euphoria. Where a mortal man could fuck any female he wanted. Sky, sea, fiction, or fact. Any illusion, any fantasy, a place where rules bowed to your desires, gravity kneeled to your wishes, and life was no longer full of monsters but magic.

And in that dream, I shared this new Zion with a girl. A girl with long hair the colour of rich coffee. A girl with leggy length, a strong soul, and magnificent quicksilver eyes. A girl who begged me to touch her, lick her, worship her.

And for the first time since I was born, I did something spontaneous, impetuous, and oh, so fucking dangerous.

I took her.

I let myself sink into the dream. I fell for a figment of my imagination and fucked a goddess I would never be able to find.

When I woke up, I mourned the loss of such a dream. I spent a week wishing I could return to such a place, to find such a creature, to be happy.

But such a place didn’t exist. Such a girl didn’t exist. And that denial of everything that I wanted became a driving force to twist the impossible. Thanks to the scientific gifts I’d learned through methodical education and instinctual evolution, I created an elixir. I conjured Euphoria. I brought forth a new dimension…all thanks to a dream.

But no matter how skilled I was at pulling myth from reality, I couldn’t fabricate the dream-girl who’d stolen my heart.

The goddess I wanted more than anything. The girl who would forever condemn me to loneliness because no one would ever compare.

Euphoria was real, but I wanted nothing to do with it because I wouldn’t settle for a fucking lie. I wouldn’t code a fantasy or change the face of another to indulge in because if I did—if I allowed myself the illusion that she was real—I’d turn my back on reality to stay with her.

I’d turn my back on all the souls I’d helped save. All the souls who relied on me. All the souls who came before me and my goddamn loneliness.

So, I allowed others to play in my elixir-explicit playground.

I clung to the lessons my brother taught me.

I stayed iron-fisted, guarded, and restrained.

Until the night I dreamed of her again.

A silver-eyed enchantress who haunted me.

And I typed an email sending out a half-conscious, sleep-hazed request.

Find me a girl with long dark hair, alabaster skin, and silver gaze.

I forgot about such a request until I earned a reply months later.

We found her. $500,000 and she’s yours.

And I did the second most impulsive thing of my life.

I bought her.

I welcomed her.

I wanted her.

The minute she stepped foot on my paradise, I knew I’d fucked up. I hadn’t believed such a creature existed. I stupidly thought no human girl could compare.

But Eleanor Grace was the one who was incomparable. Instead of ethereal silver eyes, her grey ones were equally bewitching. Instead of glowing skin and the faint halo in my dream, her honesty and spirit were what drugged me.

I’d gambled with fate and lost. I’d asked for something I could never survive. And she’d been delivered straight from my fantasies and directly into my nightmares.

Thanks to her, spontaneity became a disease I couldn’t escape. Rash choices, hasty conclusions, careless decisions. Each one was her fault. Each one broke me a little more. Each one destroyed my sanity.

But then she went and committed the worst thing of all.

She fed me elixir.

She shattered my premeditation. She annihilated my careful control.

She made me fucking wild.

And then, she ran.

A girl I’d dreamed about, thought about, kept on a pedestal inside my mind for years, drove me into the dirt where beasts belonged.

And. Then. She. Fucking. Ran.

So…I gave up trying to control myself.

I welcomed the pain of chaos.

…I chased.

Chapter One

MY BARE FEET SANK into soft sand as I bolted from Sully’s office.

My dress flared out around my legs, fawn glitter and champagne gems all winking in the sunlight. The heavy material made me trip as I careened around a corner and ran as fast as I could.

Grabbing handfuls of the train, I threw myself into a gallop.

Most of me didn’t want to run.

This wasn’t my plan.
Eleanor Grace belongs to the man and the monster, hating them both but unable to deny that something links them. Something she doesn’t want to feel, something that traps her as surely as the sea surrounding the island where she serves.
Sully Sinclair belongs to his past and the black and white script his life has become. He views his goddesses as commodities—possessions to be treated kindly but firmly. The only problem is…Eleanor is different.
She’s jinxed him. Cursed him. Awakened him. She’s a goddess with the power to ruin him.

In one beat, it could be ruthlessly cold, cavernously deep, and protective of its secrets, yet in the next, it could be blissfully warm, wondrously calm, and piercingly clear.

That was my heart.

A complex ecosystem of darkness and light.

Hate and lust.

Forgiveness and revenge.

But if I were the sea, then Sullivan Sinclair was the shark.

Sleek and sensual, effortless and cruel, he was the predator of the ocean, all while I was the keeper of his livelihood. Not only was I his goddess, to rent and pawn, to earn untold treasures from her flesh, but I also harboured his secrets and buried his truths in my bottomless heart.

Without me, he’d just swim in sunshine and shadow, prowling and patrolling, hunting and surviving, his lifetime a monotonous replay of the day before.

But the sea wasn’t monotonous.

Each day was different.

Tempest and full of storms in the morning.

Crystal-spangled and serene in the afternoon.

That was my heart.

That was the breadth of my emotions when it came to the man who bought me.

The crevices and cracks were the veins surrounding the stubborn muscle keeping me alive. The brine was my blood hish-hishing through those veins, granting me strength to keep surviving.

Not because I had to win, but because of the tiny crumbs I collected about the god who’d captured me. His ability to hide a thousand shipwrecks was almost as impressive as the sea’s capacity to house a million creatures.

Sully Sinclair said I had the power to ruin him.

I believed him.

Something bound us that we couldn’t explain.

But that wouldn’t be what would destroy him.

A tidal wave of injustice and anger, of loneliness and lust was cresting in my heart. Sweeping along the shallows, stirring up the shadows, ensuring I wasn’t just a droplet caught in a bottle but an entire tsunami just on the horizon.

I had the power to ruin him, yes.

But in the process, I would also destroy myself.

Chapter One

I CARRIED HER FROM the VR Room as gently as I dared.

I tripped under her weight, my own muscles wrung ragged from the punishment I’d delivered while Eleanor was in Euphoria. My heart barely had enough energy to pump blood through my veins, my legs burned with lactic acid, my entire body squeezed dry of every life-giving molecule.

But fuck, it was worth it.

Worth it to feel somewhat sane after the nightmarish confusion of the past week. Worth it to finally find calm in the chaos that this dangerous goddess had caused.

I looked at Eleanor, fast asleep and limp in my arms. Her lips were parted and still red from a thousand kisses. Her cheeks still flushed from untold orgasms. Her skin glowing from within, thanks to the magic of what she’d indulged in.

Euphoria had the power to break you apart, but it also had the potential to make you rise from the ashes that you once were. Whatever parts were destroyed while she played in the fantasy, coded and delivered by yours truly, I had no doubt she’d awake stronger, bolder, and far more dangerous than before.

My fingers dug into her silky skin, pressing her close.

Fuck, I was in trouble.

I knew that.

But for the first time…I owned it.

I’d made yet another colossal mistake…and this one, I honestly didn’t know if I could survive.

“Who are you?” I whispered in the darkness, ignoring the trembles of my body, the hunger in my belly, the exhaustion in my mind. Every inch of me begged to rest. To place Eleanor on the sandy pathway and curl up beside her.

To sleep after surviving a night we’d both never forget…for entirely different reasons.

Stumbling forward, I groaned at the shooting stitch in my stomach. I’d overdone it. I’d drained myself to the point of sickness. I needed rest. She needed rest.

But…just for a moment—a single, stupid moment—with no one around and no one to witness, I stopped, let down my shields, and stared. I stared at the girl who’d twisted me up just by existing. The girl who I still didn’t know what to do with. Could I keep her on my shores for four years? Could I rent her out to men who didn’t deserve her? Would I have the strength to keep my distance when parts of me that I’d killed years ago were slowly waking up?

It wasn’t just her beauty that arrested me. It wasn’t just her temper or her personal choices. Something I couldn’t explain bound us together, drawing us closer, against our will…creating a minefield of destruction.

Her forehead furrowed a little as whatever dream she had ghosted over her face. She shifted in my arms, curling deeper into my chest.

And fuck if my heart didn’t kick with an extra beat.

Tightening my grip on her, I continued walking, digging bare feet into soft sand, forcing a body that had well and truly been abused to keep going, for just a little while.

Eleanor Grace is a naïve dreamer. Trusting and young, she believes her book-loving boyfriend can save her when her freedom is snatched and sold. Squirreled away to an island at midnight, delivered to a man even darkness won’t touch, she’s bound by a contract.
Four men. Four fantasies. Four pieces of her soul.
Sullivan Sinclair is the giver of fantasies. Any wish, any desire—he is the master at quenching even the filthiest appetites. His private paradise and perfectly trained goddesses are there for one purpose: to ensure every guest is extremely well satisfied.

I was seventeen.

It was my last month of school.

The test comprised of a single question.

What is the worst thing that happened to you, and how did you survive it?

When the class sneered at the seemingly random query, our teacher smiled, and said, “You think this is a stupid question, but really, it’s the most important one you’ll ever answer. Why? Because the worst thing to ever happen to you probably hasn’t found you yet. You’re young. You’re fanciful. You’re naïve. But to know that your life will have battles, arms you for the trials ahead. And the answer that you write on this silly piece of paper will be there, in the back of your mind, keeping you company while you face it.”

I groaned with my classmates.

I joked with my friends.

But I did the work required.

I thought long and hard and scribbled:

The worst thing to happen to me? When Max got drunk and abandoned me at the bonfire party last year. In the middle of nowhere with intoxicated teens everywhere, I was lost and lonely. A guy tried to feel me up. He pushed me against a tree, and the fire glowed behind him while he touched places he shouldn’t.

How did I survive it? By being brave and kneeing the bastard in the balls. By being proactive and arranging a ride home with a friend’s older sister. By being unforgiving and dumping Max. By being wise and never forgetting the boy who tried to take what wasn’t his to take.

The teacher didn’t require us to sign our names.

We handed in our confessions anonymously.

She was right, that teacher.

We were young.

We were fanciful.

I was naïve.

Naïve to think a childish party with raging hormones and reckless drinking would be the worst thing to ever happen to me.

Now, four years later, I had a different answer to scribble down.

An answer I wished I knew how to survive.

The worst thing to ever happen to me? Being stolen, sold, and gifted. Being delivered to a man who isn’t just a man, but a monster. Being told I now belong to him.

How did I survive it?

I guess I’ll have to fight and find out…

Chapter One

“HERE.”

My head raised from my knees. My eyes peered into the dank and dismal darkness. A ghostly figure of a blonde girl holding up a bowl danced in front of me.

I was hungry. Thirsty. Hurting. Lonely.

She offered salvation to most of those things, passing me a dish of nondescript food and a torn piece of bread. My hands shook as I took the bowl from her, bending a little to reach from where I hugged myself on the top bunk.

She flashed me a smile, nodding in approval. “If we don’t eat, we don’t have enough strength to fight.”

I nodded back. I didn’t want to talk. The men who’d snatched me from the hostel where my boyfriend and I had been staying promised painful punishment if I talked to the other girls trapped in hell with me.

But this girl…she’d only arrived today.

Her fear made her a little reckless, even though I’d seen her crying.

Men’s voices grumbled from outside the door, tearing her gaze worriedly to look. I froze with the bowl in my hands, waiting for a monster to walk in and hurt us.

But the voices faded, and the girl looked back at me. “What’s your name?”

Such a simple question.

But a terrifying one because my name was no longer mine. No longer mine to use. Freedom taken from me along with everything.

I licked my lips, testing my throat that still throbbed from screaming so hard when I’d been taken. I’d been in the communal kitchen of the hostel cooking veggie tacos for me and my boyfriend, Scott.

I’d been the only one. The only backpacker in an empty kitchen while Scott hung out in the pool hall with a guy we’d just met from Ireland.

I’d grown bored of the potato and leprechaun jokes and sought refuge in the quietness of the run-down kitchen.

Alone.

Until…I hadn’t been.

Until three men arrived with black gloves and sinister smiles.

Until those men noticed me, assessed me…snatched me.

“I’m Tess,” the blonde whispered, Australian accent feathering around her words. “I was kidnapped. They hurt my boyfriend.”

I shoved back the memories of my own kidnapping. Of hands on my arms, fingernails on my skin, a gag shoved in my mouth. The clang of a pot falling on the tiles, the smash of a plate as I kicked and thrashed.

I hadn’t been quiet.

I’d screamed. I’d fought.

But no one heard me over the din of the music in the pool hall.

I shuddered, forcing my voice to stay level and low. “I’m sorry they hurt your boyfriend.” I shrugged. “Mine doesn’t know where I am.”

“I don’t know if mine is alive.” Her eyes glowed with tears. “He might be dead on the bathroom floor where they beat him.”
