Rancher Rhett Spencer loves his life. It’s slow and easy, but when he meets his woman, there’s nothing slow about the way he claims her—unless you count between the sheets.
Rhett was traveling for work when he first laid eyes on Selena Perez. She might not live close to him, but he wasn’t about to let distance get in the way.
He wanted her and what this cowboy wants, he gets.
Too bad for her though. My eyes are glued to the man who’s been coming in here for the last few months like clockwork. Tall, tanned skin, dark hair that’s rich in color hanging loosely, longer on the top and sides. It makes me want to run my fingers through it. I watch as he sits at the bar that’s built into my family’s Tex-Mex restaurant, knowing I’ll be the lucky woman who will get to serve him. That is if I can quit gawking, get off my ass, and actually serve him the beer he prefers along with a shot of tequila. Today, Rhett’s in what I’ve learned is his business attire. He wears it when he’s in town for an auction or sales meetings for the business he and his family run, thoroughbred horses. A black button-up shirt, long in the sleeves, the snaps opened at his throat. And when he takes a sip of his drink, let me just say that his throat alone makes me need a tall glass of water. Add in his hazel eyes, the way Rhett’s smile lines frame the edges of his mouth when he grins or smirks at me, and my fingers are definitely getting a workout when I finally get home.

“I can’t. He doesn’t live here. It would never work,” I reply to Raven. She’s the peanut butter to my jelly when it comes to our friendship. The bestie for the restie, your hype girl, also known as your cheerleader.

“That’s bullshit, and you know it. It’s not like he lives eight hours away. You know what I think?” This also means she doesn’t hold anything back and is a complete straight shooter.

“I’m sure you’ll tell me even if I don’t want to hear it, so go ahead, but make it quick because some people have to work today,” I tease her. Raven is a fly by-the-seat-of-her-pants type of personality, which is also why she makes the best out of everything.

“You bet your ass I am. It’s time to grab the bull by the horns.” She stands up and pretends to lasso some invisible animal. It causes me to laugh, which also puts Rhett’s focus on me.

“Okay, okay. I’ll attempt to take your advice.” We hug before she heads out the door to her job this late at night. I have no idea how she does it, but Raven manages all the same.

“You better,” she states over her shoulder. I shake my head, making my way to where Rhett is waiting to be served. I mean God forbid the other waitresses or waiters at least ask him what he’d like while I’m on the rare ten-minute break. This is the downside of your family owning a restaurant and your parents being gone for the night, leaving you with employees who clearly think they can get away with not helping out. I guess our next monthly meeting is going to be a bad one.

“Hey, Lena.” Rhett’s voice warms my blood and makes my legs clench with desire.

“Hi, Rhett, you want your usual?” He’s the only person who calls me Lena. I never liked the nickname, not even from my family, but the way Rhett says it, it’s more than okay.

“Please, but this time, I’m thinking I want something more too.” I walk around the bar until I’m behind it, feeling his gaze on my body the entire time. Thankfully, our uniforms are laid back here as long as we wear our shirts with our restaurant’s name, Maria’s Cucina, emblazoned on them. The homage made in my mother’s name. It was my father’s dream to open a restaurant. Mom was right there in Dad’s corner the entire time it was in the works. No matter how late they stayed up, how much debt they incurred, she never wavered. Which is why he named it after her in the first place.

“What’s this more you’re suggesting?” I grab his bottle of beer, Coors Light that Rhett prefers, along with a shot glass to pour in the Patron, another preference of his that he’s pretty set in his ways about.

“You and me, alone without you working.” The grin he gives me almost stops me from what I’m doing.

“Is that so? That could be arranged. When are you thinking?” I flirt with a smile. Rhett licks his lower lip, and I’m thinking he wants to share more than just a few drinks along with a meal, and I’m definitely on board.

“Tonight. Been in here too many times to keep this from happening.” Rhett isn’t wrong. For the past two months, he’s stopped in here before he returns to his hotel. Sometimes I even get to see him again before he heads back home. We talk for a few minutes, more often than not we flirt a little bit, and when he leaves that night, I’m the one imagining all the things his tongue can do to me while I use my fingers or toy to get me there while wishing like hell it was Rhett giving me an orgasm instead of myself.
Creed Montgomery almost lost Laney once. He’s not going to let that happen again. Even if he has to show her how handy Texas men are with ropes…
Creed knew Laney was the one and they were well on their way to forever. Yet, his work got in the way.
Being a lineman is demanding and sometimes you never know from one day to the next where you’re going or what you’ll be doing.
When Laney calls him in a moment of weakness, Creed knows he has a chance to get back everything he lost. And he’s not about to let it slip through his fingers.
Now, he’ going to get it right. He’ll give Laney, a house with a picket fence, and his baby inside of her. This time, Laney is his forever.
****Tory is bringing you an all-new Texas bad boy. In with this standalone romance, Creed Montgomery is bringing the heat and maybe a rope or two,. So buckle up, this couple is scorching! As always with a Tory book, you’re going to get a rough around the edges, over the top alpha who only has eyes for his sassy woman and a happily ever after to make you want your very own Cowboy.
Apparently, a certain man named Creed took that to heart. That or he’s a coward and ran away. I’m more inclined to think it’s the latter with the way he behaved after he took me one hot summer night. I still remember it like it was yesterday, both of us stripping one another out of our clothes, and when I saw him standing in front of me without so much as a piece of fabric on his long and lean body, it had me running towards him. Creed’s mouth met mine, whimpers left my throat when he picked me up, my core sliding along the length of his cock, and when he brought me to the ground, our lips never parting, it was amazing. The best part, though, was when he sunk inside me with nothing between us, not a care in the world—not that he was ten years my senior or not using any type of protection. It was just us, and the amount of pleasure he brought me was indescribable.

The next morning, Creed was a completely different person. Our limbs tangled, bare skin touching, a sweet smile was plastered on my face. He woke up, eyes bleary from sleep and the morning sun, saying it was a mistake, that I was his best friend’s little sister, and a slew of other excuses I refuse to even bring up.

That’s why now that he’s back home after being gone for nearly a year, I’m not sure if I want to hug him or throttle him. It’d been months of being radio silent when it came to him, no matter how many texts or phone calls I received from Creed. He’ll never realize how painful it was when he left, or how I cried that first month when my period came after secretly hoping we’d created a life together. I couldn’t do it. I’m not even sure how I’ll look him in the eye now. I sucked it up, because cowgirls don’t cry.

Too bad watching your brother struggle even when you work beside him twelve hours a day is a hard pill to swallow. No one thought Daddy would be forced to retire at such a young age. A stroke will do that though. Seeing our father try his best to get better day in and day out with little to no avail makes my heart break for him and our mom, who never leaves his side.

I know they say things come in threes, and it sure seems like the Spencer family is seeing that happen this year. I’m just praying the third strike doesn’t result from bringing back a certain man.

I definitely didn’t think I’d have to suck it up and make a phone call I absolutely dreaded after dodging his texts and calls for months. My wounded pride was put to rest though. We were struggling, and the horse farm came before self-importance. Rhett even hired a few extra hands, but it seemed like as soon as we’d train them to help, they’d leave at the drop of the hat. Not that this is an easy job for anyone, and working for Rhett can be a nightmare of epic proportions, but we pay better than most. I couldn’t understand it, neither could Rhett. So, we stopped hiring people and took over the workload until I was bone tired, in tears, and so sore that even a hot bath wasn’t helping.

When Creed picked up on the first ring, tears gathered in my eyes, emotion clogged my throat, and I pleaded for help. He didn’t hesitate, telling me he’d be home within two weeks and to try and do our best until he got here. Creed was meant for bigger things, and even now, I feel horrible for calling him home, but I can’t do this anymore. If it gets much worse, I’ll be the one running away like Creed did, and I can’t do that to my family.

One

Creed

Damn, she hasn’t changed a bit. If anything, this time away from Laney has only heightened her beauty. Rich chocolate hair up high in a ponytail, showcasing her profile, lips whose taste I can’t forget, like those sweet little sighs she made when I sank inside her. But she’s fucking untouchable.

“Hey, man, didn’t think I’d see you home for another few months.” Rhett comes into view, blocking me from the object of my every waking fantasy.

“Yeah, found a job closer to home. Won’t be working weekends very much, and a few late nights. You need some help around here?” I don’t tell Rhett that his sister called me, practically sobbing, pulling at my heartstrings to come home and give them some kind of reprieve. I’m also not ashamed to admit that part of it is for my own selfish reasons. After more than nine months away, I’m tired of fucking fighting this feeling when it comes to Laney.
That’s why I did something I have never done before, even my friends thought I was crazy. A single woman going off for the summer, renting a small cottage in the town of Galveston, Texas. It’s only a couple of hours from where I work. Sadly, as much as I love teaching and the children involved, I loathe the faculty. And don’t get me started on the parents. Sometimes I think they expect their children to piss excellence even when they’re already at the top of their class.

That’s another reason I’m getting away. Burnout is real, and it’s time for me to re-evaluate this career path I’m on and if I’d rather change schools or jobs.

“Holy shit,” I breathe out, interrupting my own thoughts. I’ve just walked into a bar here in Galveston, not at all what I was expecting. It’s dark and moody, neon lights above where the barstools are announcing ‘Wolf’s Bar and Grill’. The country music clear from the eighties is playing, people are line dancing, and shots are being slung back like its water. My own body sways to the rhythm of the sultry music playing of none other than the king of country music, George Strait. I make my way to where everyone is line dancing and join in. Not caring that I’m wearing the most unconventional shoes as we do a box-style dance. By the time the song is over, I’m parched, sweat is gathering at the nape of my neck and traveling down towards my chest. I’m fanning myself as I walk off the dance floor when I’m stopped in my tracks. There’s a man in a black Stetson cowboy hat walking my way, well, not really, but to where I’m placing my rear end after that dance. Me, the girl who’s here by herself, wearing a white tank top, distressed cut-off jean shorts, and flip flops. I’m clearly not dressed for this bar, but I couldn’t help but walk in to see what it was about. I’m sure glad I did too. I make my way towards the man whose eyes haven’t left mine. The bar isn’t overly busy, and I’m thankful as I slide onto a stool.

“How can I help you, sunshine?” the handsome hunk of a man asks me in a deep Southern drawl, and I’m gobsmacked, struck quiet, and words are seriously hard. That’s probably why I’m taking my time staring at him from head to toe. He’s got longish brown hair that is peeping out at the nape of his collar, dark skin, a sharp jawline, and hauntingly pretty blue eyes that I can see even in the smoky haze that’s filling the room. His smile though, it’s as if he knows what he’s got going on and he’s not afraid to turn on the charm. This cowboy most definitely has trouble written all over him, and I’m more than ready to see just what kind I can get into.

“Sex on the Beach, please?” I return with a smile that’s probably ridiculously goofy.

“You got it.” He taps the bar top with his hands, showing off his muscular arms that are encased in a tight black shirt with the bar’s name emblazoned on it, and when he turns around…shew, the way this cowboy can fill out a pair of jeans, I do believe I’m in for a good time.

One

Wolf

I make the vixen the drink she requested, making sure to give her an eyeful of my arms. With how she was eye fucking them, I knew it’d be something she’d enjoy, plus seeing the apples of her cheeks bloom with pinkness had me thinking all kinds of crazy thoughts. The way she was shaking her ass on the dance floor, not even seeing the way people made room for her as she kept up with the other dancers. My eyes never left her body, that’s for fucking sure.

“Can anyone ride the mechanical bull?” Dark mocha hair with shots of caramel, porcelain-white skin, green eyes that can see deep into your soul, and lips that were meant for kissing. Already looking bee stung and ripe for my own, red in color, and I’d love to see just what else matches the color of her lips.

“Yeah, you want to ride it?” I turn around, bringing the drink she ordered to the bar top.

“Maybe not tonight. I don’t think I’m dressed for the occasion.” She holds up her foot to show me her shoes, making my mouth salivate at her legs and how flexible she is.

“I guess it’s a good thing I’m here most nights in case you want to ride Bushwhacker.” The way she lets her laugh out, abandoning any kind of pretense of modesty, has other men near the bar looking at her. I’m no idiot. I stand up straight, my arms crossed over my chest, and let them know to back the fuck off.
Trace is a cowboy, but not one that got the glory.
He never thought his life would shift in a single glance, but one look at Dove and it did exactly that.
The worst part? Trace McCray doesn’t remember me. I guess that happens when you have a glow up from the last time you saw him. It’s not that he was ever mean to me in our high school days, not in the least. Trace was nice, but that didn’t make us friends. It also didn’t stop me from daydreaming about him.

Now that I’m back home helping my parents, though, he’s finally noticing me. Gone are the braces, the glasses, and the bright red hair. It probably didn’t help that I was three years behind him, so the only interaction we had was in high school, and let’s be honest, even living in a small town, there wasn’t much either of us had in common.

Fast forward six years, and I’m back home. Not where I really wanted to be, but here I am working at the hardware store. The reasoning on why I’d rather be anywhere but this small town in Texas, well, let’s just say just because Trace was nice, that doesn’t mean the other people in town were. The name-calling was bad—four-eyes, carrot top, asking if the drapes match the curtains, and brace-face were just some of the few things they said. It was when they started doing other things to me in my Junior year of high school that had me transferring to being homeschooled. I could handle a lot, but when they started messing with me in the locker room for my lack of a chest and boney body, I was done.

Mom and Dad saw it coming but were waiting until I came to them. I’d tell them both about the latest crap that was going on, but I didn’t allow anyone to wade in. The final straw was when they locked me in one of the gym lockers in my bra and panties with no way to get out until the janitor came in and let me out. I was so embarrassed, I got dressed while Mrs. Marjorie stood guard of the door and then escorted me out. The worst thing to do was stay silent, but at that point, I was bone tired of it and ready to move on.

That was years ago, and I’d like to think that’s what made me stronger than ever before, plus the fact that I now wear contacts, the braces are long gone, and my hair has turned into a dark auburn color. Not to mention I didn’t stay boney forever. Apparently, the stress from high school bullies was the biggest problem because the minute I was away from them, I flourished.

The only reason I’m back home, well, there are two things. My parents need help around the hardware store, and that little thing called a job and a place to live. Apparently, getting a degree in Library Science wasn’t the best idea. Finding a job is a whole other story of being completely impossible since everything’s electronic these days, and finding a library that was hiring for above minimum wage, yeah, even worse. So, I’m home for the time being, still daydreaming about a boy who’s now turned into a man. Even at the age of twenty-four, I’m beginning to think happily ever after isn’t something I’m meant to find.

One

Trace

It’s the third time this week I’ve been in Russell’s Hardware. Hell, I don’t even need anything today. Nope, just in here to get a look at the girl who’s working at the cashier station, though, when I’ve been in here before, I got an eyeful. She was up on her toes, reaching for the top shelf to restock the lower one, and boy, did she have some delicious fucking curves—an hourglass figure that was fine as hell from behind, an ass I wanted to sink not only my teeth in, but I wanted my hands full of them while I was taking her from behind. And don’t even get me started on the front view—beautiful face, lush lips, skin light in color with a smattering of freckles on her cheeks. The way her tits moved with every deep breath, lifting them up higher. I knew from looking alone they’d be more than a handful in my hands.

What I haven’t gotten yet, though, is a smile or her name. That’s partly my fault, what with the small talk and me asking her questions I sure as shit already know the answers to. Didn’t mean I was dumb enough not to ask them, even if it was just to hear her voice. Today, though, it’s a whole new ball game. I’m going to go after the girl who has me seeing a future for the first time in all of my twenty-seven years.
Sure, we live on neighboring farms; that still doesn’t mean we don’t know one another. Knox, though, he’s been the star of my fantasies for more years than I can count. Too bad he doesn’t know I exist. It could be because I’m younger than him, or it could be because he’s already forged his path in the local rodeo circuit when he’s not working on the farm. I’m not sure what it is, all I know is, I’m going to do my best to finally capture his attention.

His dark chocolate-brown hair with shots of blond running through it from the sun lazily hangs in front of his face when he’s not wearing his cowboy hat. His green eyes with specks of yellow in them remind me of the hay fields when they’re tall and ready to be cut. Then there’s the scruff of his day’s old stubble. Add the way Knox looks in a white T-shirt, showcasing his muscular chest and arms, the molded-to-his-ass and legs brown tag Wrangler jeans. And, Jesus, what he does to me… Not to mention when he’s lifting a bale of hay or on those rare occurrences we’re both at the same rodeo and I get to watch him ride a bull for those long eight seconds. It’s also why I’m lying in bed, my nightgown hiked up to my stomach, one hand on my breast, tweaking my nipple the way I’d imagine Knox would do, and my other hand is inside my panties. The slick folds of my center giving way to my greedy fingers, playing out how he would take me, his body on top of mine, or maybe he’d let me ride him. The way I’m aching right now, it won’t take me long to get off. I’m careful not to use my fingers too deeply, saving that precious gift of mine for Knox and only Knox.

“Knox,” I moan, trying to hold it in even though I’m on the other side of the house. Living at home at the age of eighteen—technically, almost nineteen—well, it’s definitely a downfall. I throw the pillow over my head, using one finger to slide inside me, the palm of my hand grinding down on my clit, wishing my fingers were Knox’s or his length. I ride out my orgasm, my body shaking, breathing heavily, yet it doesn’t do anything to stop the soul-aching need to be with him.

Tomorrow’s a new day, and I think I have just the right idea to finally get Knox to notice me.

One

Knox

“God damn it, Trace. I told you enough is enough.” I’m attempting to fix the fence at the north pasture where our dumbass bull decided to trample through to the next ranch over. There are four corners on our ranch. To the right is where Trace is talking about right now. The fucker is consistently trying to goad me into something, but I’m far too old to even think about Blakely that way.

“I’m just saying you keep screwing around, that girl will be swooped up, and you’ll be the miserable old fart people talk about. I mean damn, man, did you see her a few weeks ago? That woman can fill out a pair of jeans, not to mention her in a dress.” The cutters slide out of my hand from working on the barbed wire fence, nearly slicing through my gloves.

“Are you done yet?” My brother isn’t looking at me, and he damn sure isn’t helping me. Nope, he’s too busy looking at her.

“Fucking told you, numb nuts.” He pats my shoulder and takes the cutters from my hand, leaving me with my dick in the wind. That’s because the woman he was talking about is in the pasture walking in the wildflowers with her dark chestnut hair hanging down her back, eyes that I know are as blue as the bonnets that grow in our home state of Texas, deep cherry-red lips, a dimple that appears when she smiles, and a body that I have no fucking right to be staring at.

“Trace!” I call out once I hear the motor start up on the side-by-side we use to haul equipment around in, but the damn fool takes off, leaving me with nothing but the tools and the woman who has me gripping my cock more often than not.

I hear him laughing even though he’s just about out of sight. This is who my brother is, the youngest of us McCray boys. I’m the oldest coming in at thirty- three, and Trace is twenty-seven. Mom and Dad had a hard time getting pregnant with both of us, the reasoning for the age gap between us. Which is why I should be locked up in a jail cell for looking at Blakely. She’s eight-fucking-teen, barely legal, but damn, she definitely doesn’t look it, especially right now. Hair flowing in the wind, a dress that’s molded to her body, white in color with small flowers. It’s the way her breasts shake as she walks, the subtle glimpse of thigh with every swoosh of that damn flimsy fabric Blakely calls clothes. I shake my head, needing to return to the fencing before this bull goes over and impregnates their cows like he tried with the Boyd’s.
