His lips brushed my forehead, and the dam inside me cracked again. Not in the same way as earlier. This wasn’t fear. It was relief mixed with something deeper.

Sometimes, all you could do was cry it out. That was exactly what Talon gave me, holding me through my tears. When they passed, I lifted my face. His eyes met mine, dark and dangerous, but so full of caring that my chest ached.

“Better?”

“Yeah.” I sniffled. “But only because of you.”

He brushed the tears from my cheeks with the pads of his thumbs. “Good.”

“Why do you make me feel so safe?”

His expression didn’t change, but emotion flared in his gray-blue orbs. Then he leaned in and kissed me like he was staking his claim. There was no hesitation or slow build. His mouth crashed into mine, hot and demanding. I gasped, and he took full advantage, his tongue sweeping in and claiming every inch of me.

His fingers tightened at my waist as he lifted me to my feet before backing me against the wall.

This kiss made me feel like I was his entire world. As though this was the only way he knew how to tell me I wasn’t alone anymore.

And oh boy, did I need it.

I kissed him back with everything I had, tangling my hands in his hair to pull him closer. My knees felt shaky, and my breath was unsteady, but I didn’t care. Not when he poured so much into the press of his lips and swipe of his tongue against mine. When Talon finally pulled back, his chest rose and fell like he’d run a mile.

His thumb brushed over my cheek. “You’re mine. Doesn’t matter what comes next. You’re not facing it alone.”

I didn’t trust myself to speak, so I just nodded and leaned into his chest.

He wrapped both arms around me and held me there for a long moment. Eventually, he nudged my chin with his knuckles, coaxing me to look up. “Come back to bed.”

That sounded like exactly what I needed right now. “Okay.”

He fired off a quick text about Marcy’s call to one of his club brothers, and we climbed back under the covers. With his arms wrapped around me, Talon tilted my head back to kiss me again. It quickly grew heated and led to another round of sex.

After two more orgasms, sleep came easier than it had in days. And Talon never let go.

SAVAGE

After sleeping for a couple more hours, we got up, showered, dressed, and made our way to the kitchen for lunch. When we finished, I took my girl to the lounge, where we tended to hang out unless we were outside.

I had Tamara tucked against me on the leather couch, one arm slung low around her waist and the other draped across the back. She was curled in close, her cheek resting over my heart like it was her favorite spot. And hell if it wasn’t mine too.

We relaxed together, lazy and content. Enjoying the kind of quiet that didn’t happen often around the compound.

Although it was never completely silent around here. Across the room, Wrecker and Hawk were perched at the bar, arguing over which kind of bike oil gave a better burn-off smell. Ridiculous shit. But they were both dead serious about it, and the one-liners were flying. Hawk, sharp-tongued and dry as the desert, was poking Wrecker’s last nerve. Wrecker, for his part, looked like he was one sentence away from launching a fucking barstool.

Tamara giggled softly against my chest.

Damn, that sound did something to me.

I looked down at her and got lost in the little smile tugging at her lips and the way she burrowed in like she never wanted to leave. My chest got tight, and I wondered how the hell I’d lived without this—without her—for so long.

The door to the kitchen swung open, and Rhiannon walked in with her and Viper’s son on her hip. The kid was four months old, full of chubby limbs and bright eyes. He was squirming like he had someplace to be and no damn clue how to get there. I had to admit, even my grumpy ass couldn’t help turning soft by all the cute kids running around.

Tamara perked up instantly. “Hi, Rhiannon! Oh my goodness, look at Harvey. I saw him a couple of days ago, and I feel like he’s already getting bigger.” She reached out eagerly. “Can I hold him?”

Rhiannon didn’t hesitate, looking grateful as hell. She handed over her son with a small sigh of relief and an affectionate eye roll. “Be my guest. I think my arms are going numb. He’s teething. And I swear, the little wiggle-worm never stops moving.”

Tamara pulled Harvey close, cooing at him as she bounced him gently on her lap while he flailed and babbled with pure baby nonsense. Watching her hold him—soft, playful, lit up from the inside—hit me straight in the chest, sending warmth to every part of me.
