“So am I.” Only I’m not hungry for food. I want to taste my curvy little kitten. “Would you like to order in or go down to the restaurant?” I surprise myself by asking. I hope she chooses a nice quiet evening just the two of us.

“Ordering in sounds heavenly.” I stare at her while grabbing my phone out of my pocket. I send Josh a quick message, asking him to send dinner up to the suite, then turn my attention back to my girl.

“It should be here soon.” She swallows as I make my way over to her. “Why don’t we get to know each other while we wait?” I take her soft hand in mine and lead her to the sofa.

“Sounds like a plan.” My brave kitten takes a deep breath and sits down next to me. “What do you want to know?” She glances up, and I notice a few freckles dotting her soft cheeks. My tongue tingles with the urge to taste each little dot.

“Everything.” It’s fucking true. I want to know everything about my girl. First, I need to get her to trust me. “But I’ll start with the basics.” I lift her soft hand to my lips and place a light kiss across her knuckles. I watch an adorable blush move up across her cheeks and realize she’s feeling this intense pull, too.

“Uh.” Tia breathes in deeply. “I’m twenty-four. I have two younger, pain-in-the-rear brothers who think they run my life. My parents are wonderful, but they tend to try to coddle me a little too much and run my life.” She shrugs. “Those are my basics. Now, what are your basics?” Tia glances over and waits for me to answer.

“I’m thirty-nine. The oldest of three kids. My brother, Falcon, is thirty-five and my sister, Raven, is twenty-three. I spent six years in the Marines before my Granddad Leo got sick. I decided to come back to Nashville and run Inked Knight Records. The rest is history. Oh, and just so you know, I don’t plan on running your life, but I’d like to be a very big part of it.”

Tia swallows, and I watch emotions flit quickly through her expressive steel gray eyes. “I take it your parents are bird fans?” She smirks. “You know the whole Hawk, Raven, and Falcon thing?” I’m tempted to kiss the sassy expression from her silky lips.

“Certified tree-huggers,” I confirm. “They’re off in the wilds of Africa trying to save some animal from extinction.”

“That’s admirable.” Tia leans back against me, sending hunger shooting down my spine.

“I guess.” I shrug and admit, “It’s a painful subject. They left us to be raised with family members while they went off to save wildlife.” With age, I’ve gotten over the pain missing them caused, but it’s still a sore subject. “They’re basically strangers to us.”

A knock at the door interrupts us, and I’m relieved I don’t have to explain my dysfunctional family in-depth to the woman I’m hoping to keep forever. It always pisses me off when I’m forced to think about my parents, and I don’t want anything to distract me from my task. Wooing my little kitten.

CHAPTER FIVE

TIA

With my stomach tied in knots, I barely taste a bite of the fancy meal. I feel his eyes following my every movement, causing my hunger for food to wither away while my girly parts tingle with another form of craving.

“Is it okay?” Hawk points at my mostly untouched plate. “Would you like me to order something else for you?”

“No.” I wipe my mouth before dropping my napkin back in my lap. “I’m just not very hungry.” At least for food. My girly parts are definitely craving something else. The air around us is filled with something that I can’t define. I have a hard time believing the seductive promises I’m seeing in his eyes.

“Me neither.” He smiles and reaches for my hand. As his lips move over my knuckles, I feel the slight touch in every molecule of my body. “Would you like to have an early night since we’ll be at the concert most of tomorrow?” He shocks me. That’s it? We’re going to go to our separate bedrooms and ignore the hunger filling the air around us?

“That sounds superb.” I wonder if my disappointment echoes through my snarky reply. “I can take a nice long bath in the small swimming pool that I have for a tub.” That’s an understatement. When I snuck a peek at the suite earlier, I was shocked to find huge garden tubs in each of the bathrooms. Well, all but Hawk’s room. His is still a mystery since I couldn’t exactly burst in on him to get a peek. I storm to my room before Hawk has the chance to disappoint me any further.
