What is this?

I won’t say it.

I will not say those words out loud.

It’s too soon. It’s not right.

But God, it feels so right when I slide into her warmth.

Complete.

We are fated.

I was meant to be in that cloakroom.

Raven

My fingers hit the keyboard as I set about opening my morning emails.

Things will be busy today with Charles stopping in London on his way back from Italy, so I need to get to work.

With a quick glance, I see I have over a hundred emails waiting for my response. My head shakes, and then I look at my half-empty mug of coffee. I’m going to need a refill pretty soon if I’m going to read through all of these.

I’m about to take the last few sips when I hear a commotion coming from the elevator. A few seconds later, Keller places a gorgeous bouquet on my desk. The look on his face as he places it down can only be described as murderous.

“I’m not your assistant,” he hisses.

Reaching for the flowers, I pull out the card.

The card simply reads: I missed you, but I will see you soon.

Now I’m even more confused . . .

Who will see me soon?

I was supposed to see Asher, but he wouldn’t send me this, would he?

I hear the sound of a cough, and I see that Keller’s brows pinch together as he studies me.

“Who are they from?” he asks, his voice tight.

“No clue.” I shrug.

“You must have a clue?” he presses. I shake my head. I’m about to say something when I hear people talking.

Keller huffs and storms off, and I’m confused by why, but then, as if the waters part, I see Charles and I know longer care about what crawled up Keller’s ass.

My breath catches at the sight of Charles walking down the hall. His gray suit hugs him just right, and my mouth waters.

I stand and head to intercept him before he walks into his office. When I’m standing right beside him, I lean in and whisper, “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be in London.”

“Change of plans. We have work we need to do.”

I lick my bottom lip, having a hard time focusing on his words, as my eyes trail down his torso, raking him in.

“That was fast,” I say, lamely.

“I can be when I choose to be.”

There’s so much innuendo in those words that I’m having a hard time not blushing.

He looks ever so briefly at the flowers and then at me.

I’m fighting the urge to run to him and pull him in to my arms. This thing between us is turning into an inferno, and I don’t want to put it out.

I need more time with him.

He shrugs, tipping his chin up. “Nice flowers. Was there a signature?” He smirks and walks off, leaving me wanting.

Was there a signature?

I pick up the note and reread it.

I missed you, but I will see you soon.

No signature.

He’d told me he wouldn’t sign his name so people in the office wouldn’t know the last set of flowers were from him.

That smirk . . . Oh, my God. Every time he has that heated look.

It’s too much.

The flowers are not from Asher. They’re from Charles.

I missed you.

He missed me, and that does crazy things to me. My stomach tingles, and my whole body feels light.

I don’t know what to do. Or how to respond. For a while, I just sit here, staring at the pink roses, smelling their sweetness.

I missed him, too, and it’s killing me that I can’t go to him and show him just how much.

I sigh, moving the flowers to the corner of my desk, and head toward Charles’s office. We might not be able to have a proper reunion, but I want him to know the gesture is appreciated and that I feel the same way.

I know we said we wouldn’t mess around at the office, but a kiss won’t hurt. Right?

It’s lunchtime, and Shelby is surely away from her desk.

It’s now or never.

Charles’s door is open when I arrive, and I walk right in, closing the door behind me, beckoning for him to come to me.

He grins, standing from his desk and making his way toward me.

“What’s this about?”

I grab his collar and pull him into me, pressing my lips against his. When my tongue pushes past his lips, tangling with his, a groan makes its way up his throat.

We’re tangled in each other for several minutes before he breaks the kiss, placing his mouth on my neck and running his lips up the curve of my neck to the shell of my ear.

“Raven, you are delicious,” Charles murmurs. “I want you. Now,” he growls.

I chuckle, pushing him back lightly.

“I only wanted to thank you.”

He pulls back, smiling down at me. “That was some kiss, love,” he croons.
