I pull back. “I love you, Charles. It was never a question.”

“I love you, Raven Bennett.”

We fall against each other, losing ourselves in this dark office. Our tongues tangle together, and our hands roam, but we don’t take it any further. It’s not about sex. It’s about finally being on the same page. Finally knowing that this is real.

We’re meant to be.

It was fate bringing us together all along.

Epilogue

Raven

Five months have passed since that awful night in the Hamptons.

The day that Charles admitted his feelings, and I was a coward.

We put the past behind us and vowed to grow together.

To love fiercely.

I’m driving with Asher to the Hampton house. Charles had to go there a day early to meet with the caterers, so we’re meeting him there.

Asher and Charles spoke soon after the whole incident with Bauer. They get along really well now.

I’d even say they’ve grown to be decent friends.

Asher lost his job, as expected, and came to work with us at Cavendish.

Surprisingly, everyone has been very supportive about Charles and I.

I guess it’s hard to be angry with me when everyone was still reeling over everything else that happened. Plus, with Keller gone, I took over his vacant role in the company.

Let’s just say the entire company really hated that guy and I’m a welcome replacement.

Asher’s been an amazing addition to the team. The Diosa campaign was a success and they have signed on for even more work.

“I feel so posh,” Asher says as we make our way up the drive to the house.

Asher gasps as we round the corner, and the house is in view.

“I told you so,” I say.

“Wow, I know, but it’s even bigger than I thought it would be.”

“Oh, trust me, you’re going to feel a whole lot more posh when you see what’s waiting for you. The place is crazy. I can’t wait for you to see the pool and all the work we have done for the Gala decorations.”

I’m talking a mile a minute, so excited to be coming back here. It’s time to start new memories to erase the last few.

“This is the Hamptons. Lily would love it here.”

Lily couldn’t make it because of some work wedding she had to attend. Asher and I were bummed but understood. She has to play nice.

“When was the last time you were here?”

“Not since everything went downhill. I’m ready to move forward. Now that Tabitha and Keller have been found guilty of fraud, I’m ready to do something good. The trial took too much out of all of us. With them in prison for their crimes, tonight’s charity auction needs to be a success.”

“It will be successful and we’ll have a blast. Based on the size of this place, you and Charles won’t even know I’m here and vice versa . . . thank God.”

I laugh. “Why do you say that?”

“I don’t need to be subjected to your extracurriculars.”

I slap his chest. “You’re just jealous that you won’t be enjoying extracurriculars this weekend.”

He smirks. “Fair point.”

“I’ll just hang with Summer the whole time while you two get up to your fuckery,” Asher says.

I chuckle, not bothering to deny it.

Summer is working on a couple of campaigns with us, Diosa being the largest. They officially signed Cavendish Group. It’s been a very beneficial relationship for us all. Paxton doesn’t hate the arrangement either. His commission is bonkers from Summer, let alone the other clients we have scheduled for marketing campaigns.

I smile up at the big house. It’s so good to be back at the place where Charles had first told me he was falling for me. If only I hadn’t ruined it by not saying it back. But it’s okay. Everything worked out in the end. There are a lot of cars around, and I look at Asher.

“Wow.This is going to be amazing for funding.” I state.

“Everything looks really nice, Raven. You and Shelby do a great job at party planning. That should come in handy in the future.”

“What do you mean? The charity event is only once a year, and it rotates locations. We won’t have another thing to celebrate in this grand of style for a while.”

“Yea, umm—right.”

“What are you hiding, mister?” I ask as we get out of the car and head to the front doors.

“Nothing, nothing.” Putting his hands up in the air, Asher continues, “I swear I don’t know anything.”

“You are the worst liar, ever. You’re lucky we’re both dressed up. You look too good in a tux for me to hurt you, and I like these heels too much.”

“You’d probably fall and break an ankle. Then Charles would really kill me tonight.”

“You are being secretive, and I don’t like it.”

We make our way outside, and there, in front of the large pool where Charles and I made love one day so long ago, is a group of people all waiting for us with champagne glasses in their hands.
