“This won’t do it,” I eventually growl to myself, tidying up the best I can and making a mental note to leave a note for the cleaner.

Don’t clean my office!

If I wasn’t still so worked up about Jade, I’d de-seed my entire workstation a little better.

But I feel like I’ve wasted enough time already not trying to find out where she actually is.

And worse than that, I don’t even know how to start trying to find her.

Plus, there’s no way I could wait for her or Joey to get in touch.

They might take days, weeks…or worse. Never at all.

The thought makes me shake my head to myself.

No. I’m not fucking waiting that long. I need to see her again. Like right now.

Think, Zak. Think!

But all I can think of is Jade.

Seeing her huge blue eyes and shimmering blond hair with my come dripping down her face on a screen half the size of my wall isn’t helping either.

My dick is already aching to come for her again.

But next time, it needs to be in her—no more of this.

No more pretending. I want the real fucking thing.

“I want you, Jade,” I groan at the screen again.

Then it hits me like a thunderbolt.

Joey.

When he registered interest in the Beta testing, he would’ve left a ton of details.

“Of course!” I exclaim aloud, rolling my eyes but feeling the thrill of a new kind of excitement.

“She’s not his mom. She’s his next-door neighbor!” I cry out, joining the dots.

I never bought the whole Jade as his mom story; even if she were, it wouldn’t matter.

I feel dizzy with the realization as well as the lack of blood flowing to my brain.

My bobbing cock slaps against my abs as I sit back down to find exactly where Joey’s from.

How far away are they….

It takes a few minutes for me to bring up the data. But I hear the now familiar grunt of my own triumph returning once I find his information.

“Baltimore! She’s less than two fucking hours away,” I say impatiently, already wanting to bolt for the door, grab my keys, get in the car, and go.

Go to Baltimore. Go to Jade.

My phone pings from somewhere by my ankles, my jeans still bunched up by my feet.

It only reminds me that even though it’s a Friday afternoon, I still have a ton of work to do.

I can’t just brush off everything and drive from Philly to Baltimore.

Can I?

It’s not a long argument I have with myself, and fishing for my phone, I pull up my jeans and make myself look almost human again before it starts to ring in my hand.

“Ha!” I exclaim, answering quickly.

It’s Miles, my VR guy. He’s heading up the virtual reality version of the game we’re working on as well as the mobile version.

He’s almost as busy as I am these days.

And he’s also a co-worker from back in the day before I left my former employer, along with the twenty or so other members of my team who quit after they found out what happened to me.

It wasn’t hard to convince everyone to come and work for me. We can and will do way better. Even if we’re not a huge team with millions of dollars and people behind us, we’ve got a solid game and an already loyal customer base waiting for it.

“Miles,” I clip, putting him on speaker and talking over him as he tries to say hi.

“I’m heading out your way, be there in a few hours. Any chance we can catch up and go over where you’re at in person?” I practically gasp.

I’m punching Joey’s street address into a search engine at the same time. Multi-tasking is second nature for me, but I also feel a strange sense of urgency when it comes to Jade.

Not just a need to see her ASAP, heck I already feel overprotective of her.

Or maybe just overprotective of my own need to have her all to myself.

“Uh… Slow down, Zak,” Miles’ nasal voice says calmly. Patiently.

He’s never one to get amped up over anything, but he’s no stranger to late-night phone calls from me babbling my latest idea or fixes for one of his little problems.

“I was calling to let you know I’m going out of town for a few days. So…well, I wouldn’t have much to tell on the work front,” he confesses.

Meaning he’s right where we left off a few weeks ago.

But that’s no problem.

Apart from a place to stay in Baltimore, the VR workshop my company rents is the perfect place to invite someone like, say…Jade to come and visit.

If she’s as avid a gamer as I think she is, then she’ll be blown away by our development teams’ efforts.

And I’ll just be blown away if I can get to see her again…today if humanly possible.

“Sure, sure,” I tell Miles, letting him know it’s fine for him to take a break. “Take as long as you need, my man,” I assure him.
