Soon after I finish my third bottle, the phone rings.

I’m grinning as I answer it.

“You look so happy, Little bunny.” He’s smiling too.

“How could I not be? I’ve slept and eaten and played all day as if I have no responsibilities in the world.”

“And you don’t. You’re on vacation. That’s what vacation is for.”

“Well technically at some point, I have to prepare lesson plans for next year, but I don’t have to do it immediately. It can wait a while.”

“Taking time for yourself is important, Little bunny.”

“I know.” I lean back against the couch. I must look a wreck. I haven’t combed my hair today. I haven’t taken a shower either. I don’t feel like it.

“What’s going through your head, Petra?”

I giggle. “I need to shower, and I don’t want to.”

He chuckles. “No more showers. You need to take baths. Did you take one last night?”

“Yes.”

“Then it hasn’t been so long that you can’t stand yourself, has it?”

“No.” I giggle again.

“I think you’ll survive one day without a bath.”

I wiggle down into the couch cushions and hold his gaze. I suddenly realize I need him. “Can you come get me, Daddy?”

The smile that spreads wide across his face makes me melt. “First thing tomorrow.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely. Say it again.”

“Come get me?” I tease.

“Not that part. The last word. Say it again.”

“Daddy…”

“Music to my ears. Can you be a good strong girl for one more night?”

“I guess.” I feel petulant. I don’t really want to. I want him to come now. But that’s not reasonable. He can’t teleport. He has to take a ferry over from the island. I need to be patient. I’m lucky he’s able to rearrange his schedule to do so at all.

“You can do it, Little bunny. It’s one more night. That’s all. Two more bottles. One before bed and one in the morning. When I get there, I’ll give you a bath myself before we head back. How does that sound?”

My heart rate picks up. This is a huge step. I can’t believe I’ve asked him to come get me. I can’t believe by this time tomorrow I’ll be on the island living in a different dimension. For how long? “Scary,” I tell him honestly.

“I know, but I promise to help you every step of the way. You’re so brave, Little bunny. I’m so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new and scary.”

“Will you be patient with me?”

“Always.”

“I don’t want you to spank me,” I admit.

“We’ll discuss spanking and other punishments thoroughly before I do anything like that. Discipline is meant to help Little girls feel loved. When I set boundaries and enforce them, it’s how I show you I care.”

“Okay, but I’m not ready for you to spank me.”

“You’ll be ready before I do so,” he promises.

I’m not sure how that’s possible, but I trust him, and he said he won’t do it without talking to me first.

“Now, why don’t you go color me a pretty picture. I need to talk to my boss and make some arrangements here. Call me when you lie down with your last bottle, and I’ll read to you until you fall asleep.”

“Okay.” I don’t want to hang up. I want him to stay on the phone with me. But I know he has things to do. He probably hadn’t expected me to ask him to come get me. I hadn’t expected it either.

“Be my brave girl for one more night, Little bunny.”

“Okay, Daddy.” It feels good to call him Daddy. I like how it sounds and how it makes me feel.

I do as he says after we hang up. I take a long time and extra care to color him the perfect picture, and then I leave it on the table for him to see when he gets here.

I glance around my townhouse before heading to my bedroom with the last bottle. It’s not messy. I’m not normally a messy person. Luckily I don’t have any pets or plants. Every time I buy a plant, I end up forgetting to water it and it dies. So I stopped buying them. I’m not home enough for a pet, and they need far more care than a plant.

My work can wait. How long? That’s the million-dollar question. How long will I be gone? Daddy suggested a few weeks, but then what? It’s not like I can stay. Can I get my fix and then walk away?

I’m already half in love with Elijah the man and the Daddy. I’ll be so smitten by him within a few days that I’ll be a mess by the time I return to the mainland. Even if I stayed the entire summer, I still have responsibilities here.

It can’t last forever. I need to remind myself often that Daddy is offering me an experience of a lifetime. I’m intrigued. I can’t turn it down. Even if I do end up with a broken heart.
