“I was waiting for you at the bar.”

“You were?”

“Yup. Until closing. How come you didn’t come down?”

She sucks in a nervous breath and tucks a silky strand of blonde hair behind her ear as she looks at me. “I knew if I saw you down there, everything would change. And… I guess, I wasn’t ready for everything to change.”

I swallow hard as I watch her. “Are you ready now?”

“I don’t know,” she says. “But I’m here.”

“Yes, you are. I’m happy you came.”

Her sexy eyes roam down my torso and then snap back up to my eyes.

“What are you doing this afternoon?” she asks shyly. “I was thinking of walking into town. Want to come?”

Warmth is radiating through my body despite the cold water.

“Absolutely,” I say. “I would love to.”

“Okay,” she says, unable to hide the brimming smile on her lips as she pushes off the tree. “I’ll let you finish up here. Meet me in the lobby in an hour?”

I nod as I stare at her with hungry wolfish eyes. “I’ll be there.”

“Don’t show up soaking wet this time.” She leaves with a wink.

“How do you know that?” I shout after her as she disappears down the trail. “Did Lauren tell you? The twins?”

“I’ll never tell,” I hear her say.

I laugh as I stare at the river in disbelief. It doesn’t matter…

I have a date with an angel.

This is the start of something big. Something that will change everything.

Our lives will never be the same after today.

I grin as I gather my clothes and eagerly get ready to step into my future.

With that perfect angel by my side.

Chapter Four

Ashley

My heart is pounding non-stop as the elevator takes me down to the lobby. I check myself out in the reflective paneling. I look good. I think.

I’m wearing a cute summer dress I found on sale a few weeks ago. It’s a light floral print cami dress with a tie in the front. It’s fun and classy with a little bit of sexy thrown in thanks to the spaghetti straps and split up my thigh. I also have stylish white sandals on that are probably going to kill my ankles thanks to all those cobblestone streets, but it will be worth it.

When you’re going out with a guy as hot as Dylan, you have to look your best. All the women I come across are going to be sizing me up, wondering how the hell I snagged him.

And here are two of them now… Tina and Tiffany are watching me with curious looks as I walk out of the elevator.

“That’s what you’re wearing?” Tina asks, looking horrified.

“What?” I ask in a panic as I look myself over. The dress is super cute and the sandals are nice. What’s her problem?

I’m about to ask her when I see Dylan standing in the lobby. My mind blanks when I see him with clothes on for the first time. He’s sooooo hot. So freaking hot.

He’s wearing a short sleeve button-up collared shirt with thin blue and white stripes, and white pants. I swallow hard when I see his muscular arms and chest straining against that poor shirt. This man was made to be shirtless. It’s like his muscles are trying to burst out of that thing.

His sexy ink travels up his thick forearms and disappears under his short sleeves, like his tattoos are tempting me to come and discover what’s hiding underneath.

I’m standing here stunned and shamelessly checking him out, but that’s okay because he’s doing the same to me. He’s looking at me like he’s never seen anything so beautiful. His wandering dark brown eyes are roaming all over me, taking in every inch of my tingling body.

“Hi,” I say shyly as I walk over. “Ready?”

“Definitely,” he says as he rubs his bearded jaw. “I’m ready to go anywhere with you.”

We head to the door and he takes my hand, causing a warm shiver to ripple through my body.

I glance down at our hands and smile at the size difference. He’s swallowing my hand with his massive fingers and giant palm. He looks like he could snap tree trunks as easily as most men could snap a pencil.

“I borrowed my brother’s truck,” he says as we walk out the front door. The doorman, Greg, is giving him the evil eye, but Dylan doesn’t even notice. All of his attention is on me.

A huge luxurious black truck is parked in the lodge’s roundabout and he walks me to the passenger side.

I suck in a breath when he opens the door for me and I slip inside, tucking my dress under my thighs. Those dark hungry eyes linger for a second on my legs before he closes the door with a low moan.

Holy shit… This is happening!

I’m going on a date with a hunky mountain man. We’re actually doing this.
