I hear him laugh as he yells, "Does that mean you’re coming down, or do I come up?"

"That means go away!" I shout back and bring the covers up to my chin, and I hear the squeak of his shoes on the stairs.

"I brought coffee,” he says, and I sink deeper into the bed. It took me over four months to find the perfect blankets for my bed. I wanted to feel like I was sleeping in a cloud. That is how I described it to every person who sold linen. It took lots of test drives before I got my exact bedding. That and the eight pillows I sleep with surrounding me.

"What kind of coffee?" I mumble, opening one eye to see him walk in. I notice him look over at the new couch set I just got for my room. Two massive captain chairs with fluffy cushions face the bed. One of them has the clothes I was wearing last night on it.

"Do you even use these chairs?" he asks, and I stare at them.

"No," I say. "But look how pretty they are. They make the room look so cozy."

He comes over and sits on the bed. "Good morning." He holds up the white cup of coffee with the green logo on it.

"It’s ten o’clock on a Sunday," I say. "Why are you even here?"

"I got you breakfast, too." He holds up the white bag, and I know something is up.

"What do you want?" I ask, and he laughs.

"Why do you think I want something?" he says innocently, and I get up to grab the cup of coffee.

"Are you going to deny you want something?" I ask, sitting up in the bed, bringing the coffee to my mouth. The vanilla hits my tongue right away.

"I brought you croissants," he bribes, and I glare at him.

"You definitely want something," I accuse him. "If you have cake in the other one, I’m going to think you want my kidney or something."

He laughs, taking the hat off his head and tossing it as he scratches his head. His hair is longer than what I’m used to seeing him with, but I think that’s because Julianne hated his hair long. I, on the other hand, love it longer. He even has scruff on his cheeks. "I have lemon cake."

"Get out," I order, pointing at the door. "Leave the cake."

"Come on." He gets up onto the bed next to me.

"No," I say, trying to get away from him as he puts his arm around me and pulls me to him. "It’s Sunday." He sits with his back on my plush headboard that was custom-made. "And you have your dirty shoes on my covers.” I settle in his arms and look up at him, his eyes closed. "What is it?" I ask, scared that he might actually need my kidney.

"I have three houses to go visit," he admits, and I groan.

"And?" I’m waiting for the rest.

"Will you come with me?" he asks softly. "And if you say yes, you have thirty minutes to get dressed."

"Ugh, fine," I say, drinking the coffee. "I guess I owe you for when you came looking with me."

"You made me look at twenty-five houses," he reminds me.

"Over three months," I counter. "That’s eight houses a month."

"Well, from what Zoe sent me.” He mentions his aunt, the realtor. "These were the best and the good news," he says excitedly. "They are in your neighborhood."

"Oh, goody," I say sarcastically. "Will this not let you randomly walk into my house?"

"Maybe," he says, and his hand rubs my arm. "I might have to borrow sugar."

"It’s not funny, I thought someone was coming in to rob me." I sit up, my arm tingling from his touch.

"You thought someone was coming into your house to rob you using the code for the door?" He shakes his head and gets up. "And how were you going to defend yourself?" He puts his hands on his hips, and the sound of buzzing fills the room. I roll my lips, and my eyes go big. "What is that noise?"

"Um, you can leave," I say, putting my hands under the covers to locate the buzzing sound, knowing exactly what it is.

"Oh my god," he says with his mouth hanging open. "Was that in bed with you?"

I roll my eyes at him. "Where else would I use it? I was restless, and this helped."

He laughs. "I’m sure it did."

"If you want me to come with you, I need to get dressed," I say avoiding his eyes.

"You dirty, dirty girl," he teases me, and I groan.

"Please, are you trying to tell me you never jerk off?" I fire back, finally locating the vibrator and turning it off.

"Let me see it," he says, smirking.

I point at him. "Too far," I say, tucking it under my pillows. "Too, too far." I get out of bed, putting the coffee on the side table and turning to push him out of the room.
