A Meeting Amongst Friends

Genesis and Jaxson were up out of their seats yelling like maniacs when the Redskins threw an interception on fourth down and the Falcons defensive end ran it back for a touchdown, taking the game into overtime. Living in Atlanta, most of them were Falcons fans, but Johnson was a Redskins fan and it’d made this game so much more fun than Day had imagined. Ronowski was more of a baseball fan, just like Day, but he was rooting for the Redskins along with his man.

When Ronowski and Johnson arrived together Day had welcomed them into his home. There was no longer any tension between them and after several nights of pool and wings at Henry’s they’d become good friends. Ronowski was now comfortable discussing pretty much anything with Day, including sex. When Day told Ronowski to pull on Johnson’s balls while he sucked him off, he’d turned so red he thought the guy’s face was going to explode.

Day was spooning some more homemade guacamole into a bowl when he heard footsteps approaching him. He turned just as Ronowski slid up beside him, dipped his finger in the dip, and shoved it in his mouth.

“Mmm. Slide that finger in your mouth again and pump it in and out this time,” Day growled.

“Are you always so sexual?” Ronowski laughed at him.

“Yes,” Day said with complete seriousness. “I mean… have you seen my boyfriend? Yes, Ro, I’m thinking about sex all. The. Time.”

Ronowski caught Day's arm when he moved to take the dip back to the guys. Day stared at him for a few seconds but he wasn’t saying anything. Day had come to know Ronowski pretty well over the weeks they'd been partnered together while Seasel healed. Day set the bowl down on the counter and pulled the confused man into his arms. Ronowski slowly brought his arms up and put them around Day’s neck. Day leaned back against the island and let Ronowski rest against him.

“Why are you holding me like this?” Ronowski said, his eyes focused on the buttons on Day’s pullover.

“Because you want me to,” Day said back. “What’s on your mind?”

“I’m not hitting on you, Day.” Ronowski pulled back a little.

Day squeezed tighter. He tilted Ronowski’s chin up so the man was looking at him. “First off… I know that. Second, you know who I belong to and I don’t think you’re suicidal. Third, I know you love Johnson. So, I figured you might need a hug.” Day laughed.

Ronowski smiled shyly. “I don’t know if I do. I mean he’s really cool and we have so much fun together. He’s always coming up with this off-the-wall shit to do on our dates… like fucking bungee jumping or rock climbing! He’s really funny and chill, ya know.”

Day linked his fingers at the small of Ronowski’s back and rubbed his thumb soothingly against the firm muscles while he listened. “So what’s the problem, babe?”

“We were in bed last night and I was kind of almost asleep but not fully, and I felt him kiss me on my temple and he whispered that he loved me. I think he thought I was asleep.” Ronowski worried his bottom lip while fidgeting with the collar of Day’s shirt.

“You do love him though?” Day said it like it was a question and waited on the beautiful man to answer. Day watched Ronowski’s crystal-blue eyes look up at his ceiling before focusing back on him. Long, dark eyelashes fluttered up and down while he appeared deep in thought. His lips were naturally rosy pink and supple, a gay man’s dick-sucking-fantasy lips. Ronowski wore a little gel in his hair with the front flipped up in a messy, tousled way. Hell, no wonder Johnson was in love after only a month.

“I don’t know, Leo. How do you know when you love a man?” Ronowski blew an annoyed breath.

“Love is all the same, baby boy.” Day smirked. He’d been calling Ronowski baby boy ever since the first question he’d asked Day about sex. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a man, woman, or hermaphrodite. Love is love darlin’. Let me put it to you this way; if you get a crazy feeling in your gut just from hearing his voice, then you know, if you can’t wait to see him even though you've been apart less than twenty-four hours… then you know, if you find yourself doing anything in your power to make him smile, then you know. But the ultimate test to know whether you’re in love or not, is to imagine that person suddenly taken away from you forever. If that thought makes you damn near tear up and want to run and put your arms around them and hold ’em close to you, then you damn well know you’re in love.”

“Holy fuck,” Ronowski whispered and blinked rapidly. “I’m in love. Jesus. For the first time in my whole damn life.”
