But between the swim meet and the football game, I was officially sported out.

What are you up to? Alex asked.

I just left Shenanigans because Levi owed me a drink after that monumental sacrifice.

By that time, I’d worked out that Peyton Miller—football king and the supposed next big thing in the NFL—was Levi’s mystery guy. He’d approached us at Shenanigans and puffed out his chest like a caveman staking his claim. For a closeted player, he wasn’t very subtle. But for that fact alone, I wasn’t going to out him to anyone.

From what Levi had told me, their story was similar to mine and Alex’s. They were both from Chicago, and it sounded like they grew up together.

Anyway, as soon as the football team showed up at the bar after the game, I was out of there. And by that time, Levi didn’t even protest my leaving. Gee, I wonder why.

Where are you headed next? Alex asked.

My pulse throbbed, wondering if I should just go for it.

I was actually wondering if I could stop by…or is that too weird? You mentioned you were alone, so…

Yes, Alex responded instantly, making my stomach settle. At least somewhat. I was still taking a risk showing up, but right then, I was willing to chance it.

I walked into the dorm and up the stairs to his room, skirting the resident assistant who was busy with a delivery of boxes. I got some curious glances from a couple of students in the common room, but not enough to stop me from quietly knocking, hoping he’d answer quickly.

He pulled open the door, wearing thin nylon shorts and an FU Swim T-shirt. His hair was a wreck, as if he’d twisted his fingers through it, but he still looked cute as hell.

“Sorry if this was a bad idea,” I muttered, stepping inside.

“Guess we’ll find out.” Alex shrugged. “Still like you showing up here, not gonna lie. Everything okay?”

“Yeah, sure. I only…wanted to see you.”

His smile was shy. “I wanted to see you too.”

I circled the room, taking everything in, noting it hadn’t changed much since the last time I was there, as I tried getting my pulse under control. “Since that night at the art studio, I’ve just been wanting…”

“Wanting?” Alex asked in a shaky voice.

I looked him in the eye. “Wanting you.”

“Fuck, Remy,” he panted, the air around us crackling with electricity. I didn’t know who moved first, but suddenly we were toe to toe, sharing the same air. “I want you too.”

Our lips crashed together in a clumsy kiss, our hands groping and our bodies tussling as we tried to get closer.

“Remy…what are you doing to me?”

“Something that makes us both feel good?” I murmured as his fingers gripped the back of my shirt. “Unless you don’t want—”

“Shut up and keep kissing me.”

Our lips and tongues met again, and I moaned at the taste of him. I could’ve stood there all night, in the middle of a tiny dorm room, kissing him. But I wanted more. I wanted to feel his skin again, so my fingers dipped under his tee, lifting it over his head and dropping it to the floor. And seeing all that soft, smooth skin on display made my cock plump right up as I kissed along his jaw to his ear, then down his throat to his collarbones.

I knew we’d probably get carried away if we kept this up, but when he sank down on his bed and dragged me with him, I couldn’t find it in me to protest. What did I think we’d do in his room? Study? We were obviously wildly attracted to each other, and even though we’d forged a friendship, we also liked kissing each other—maybe a little too much. Or maybe it was all me, but I didn’t think so. Alex had just admitted as much, and that felt fucking good.

I liked Alex a lot, and he was in my thoughts way too much on any given day. We both knew what this was about, so why deny it? Soon enough, we’d have our fill and go our separate ways. But I hoped we remained friends because it felt painful to think otherwise. It was hard enough not talking to Bailey.

We kissed until our lips were tender, our bodies grinding, clinging, our breaths heavy as we gasped into each other’s mouths. I was so hard that I could barely see straight as I drew back and began kissing every part of his bare chest I could reach. When my lips brushed over his nipples, Alex hissed.

“You like that?” When I nipped at one, then the other, he whimpered. “You seem sensitive here.”

“Yeah,” he breathed as I skimmed my knuckles over his pecs. “Always have been.”

Sinking to my knees in front of him, I took my time licking and kissing each nipple, enjoying how they stiffened and the skin around them flushed like a rosebud. I fucking loved it.
