He works his way down my body, so soft and sweet until he shocks me with a sharp press of teeth. I shove my hands in his hair and gasp, then moan when he follows with intense suction and featherlight fingers brushing along the top of my thigh.

“So mean,” I groan.

“The meanest,” he agrees, his lips dancing lightly over the skin below my navel.

He shifts and presses my thighs open, his deep groan making the muscles below my waist clench. I open my eyes as his palms smooth up the inside of my thighs, his face a mask of dark desire.

His gaze lifts to mine. “Such a pretty, soft cunt.” His thumbs brush over sensitive skin. My whimper curls his lip in satisfaction. “Should I fuck you with my fingers first, darling?” He eases a single one inside, stroking the place that makes me moan before he withdraws.

He sucks his finger clean on a deep groan. “I think I’m hungry.” Connor’s lust-darkened eyes stay fixed on mine as he drops his head and licks up the length of me, laving my clit before he swirls his tongue.

I can’t take my eyes off him as he devours me. Needy, wet sounds fill the room.

He adjusts our position, dragging me down the bed until I can see our reflection in the full-length mirror.

I slide my fingers into his hair, gripping the strands. “Such a wicked mouth.”

“Such a sweet, tempting cunt.” He loops his arms around my thighs and holds me open, fucking me with his tongue, lapping at me, sucking and biting, keeping me on the edge, and just as I’m about to tip over, he blankets me with his body and fills me in one smooth stroke.

And I come, body shaking, his name breathed across my lips. He presses me into the mattress, the weight of him the only thing tethering me to Earth. “I missed you so much.”

Nothing compares to being connected to him like this, and now that I have him back, I don’t ever want to let him go again.

“I know. I’m sorry. I missed you, too. I’ll never do that to us again.” He frames my face with his palms. “I love you.”

“Say it again,” I whisper.

He rolls his hips. “I love you.” Soft brush of lips. “Endlessly.”

“I love you, too,” I murmur.

Each time he whispers those words, they heal the fractures in my heart. He’s mine, and I’m his.

I come again in crashing waves of bliss, and Connor comes with me, both of us full of love and hope, and the possibilities of the future.

We lie there for long minutes, Connor’s weight a comfort on top of me as he kisses my lips and cheeks and jaw.

I run my nails down the back of his neck. “You know, the sheets at home are a lot nicer.”

He grins down at me. “The bed is roomier, too.”

“We hardly need a king when you’re always trying to turn me into your blanket.”

“I’m not the only one who’s a fan of cuddles.” He kisses my nose.

“Mm... I miss coffee by the fireplace.”

“And your library.”

“That, too,” I agree. “And Dewey misses his luxury condo.”

“Tomorrow we’ll move you two back home, then?” There’s a hopeful lilt in his voice.

“Yes, please.”

CHAPTER 53

CONNOR

“Pull your sleeves down!” Mildred’s tone is chastising as she tugs the black fabric until my tattoos and my bracelet proclaiming me as Mildred’s Sweet Villain are hidden. “The arm porn is too much for these women. Have a heart.”

“See you next week!” A pair of young moms waves at us as they leave the mom-and-tots circle at the library.

“Bye, girls! Don’t forget to grab a onesie and extra snacks on the way out!” Mildred calls after them.

“The number of moms has doubled since Connor started showing up,” Everly observes, draping herself over Mildred like a cape. “Are we going now?”

“Right after we clean up.” Mildred pats her hand. “Go help your brother.”

Everly flits over to Victor, who’s already put most of the chairs away. Mildred watches them with a smile.

I kiss her temple. “Soon.”

She looks up and I drop a kiss on her lips. “I know. I’m just impatient.”

Since Mildred moved back home with Dewey a few weeks ago, we’ve been working to push through the paperwork to become foster parents. We want Victor and Everly to have a place they can call home, and we want it to be with us.

We finish tidying, collect Meems, who’s been happily snuggling one of the babies, and drive over to the arena. Callie’s team is in first place and heading for a championship tournament.

Fifteen minutes later we park and head inside. The girls link arms, and Victor hangs back with me, wearing a pleased smile.

“Everything good?” I ask.

“Yeah, everything is great. Everly is the happiest she’s ever been,” he notes.

“She seems more settled these days,” I agree.
