“Do you fuck Josh?”

Oh…well, this was interesting. “Why do you want to know? Jealous?”

“Shit,” Chase gritted out, running his hands through his hair, then fisting them in it, tugging on the strands.

That was new. Chase had never had this reaction to me before. He was pacing the bathroom like he didn’t know what to do, like he couldn’t stay still, and watching him, I felt a tightness in my chest. “Chase?”

As soon as his name left my mouth, he was on me. I didn’t know how he even got to me so quickly, but suddenly his mouth was crushing mine and we were stumbling backward toward one of the stalls.

My back slammed against the wall.

“Shit. I’m sorry,” Chase said as his mouth made its way down my neck.

“Don’t be. I like it a little rough.”

He growled against my skin, and then he was kissing me again and we were in the stall and shoving the door closed in the bathroom of my very protective brother’s straight bar.

But it was Chase, and he was kissing me. I was always the one who kissed him first, but now it was his hand knotted in my shirt and his other hand grabbing my ass as he bit at my lip and let his tongue taste every millimeter of my mouth.

“Fuck…why do we keep ending up this way?” he asked, then bit into my shoulder, making a tremble rock through me.

“I want you.” I grabbed his cock through his jeans, pressing the palm of my hand against his thick rod. “God, I want this stretching me out.”

And then…then he wasn’t kissing and he wasn’t holding me. His hands fell away, and he closed his eyes, dropping his head against the wall. I knew…fucking knew he was going to put a stop to this again.

“Fuck you, Chase,” I gritted out.

“Not here,” he replied, which was definitely not what I was expecting. When he opened his eyes, those big brown irises trained on me, I saw what he was saying.

Still, I asked, “Excuse me?”

“Not here. We can’t do this here. Fuck, Griff would kill me. I can’t believe I’m in the bathroom stall with you. But I just…”

He didn’t finish, and somehow I knew he wouldn’t. It killed me. I so wanted to know what in the fuck he was going to say. He just…what? Couldn’t help how much he wanted me? Needed his hands on me? There were so many possibilities, and not all of them were good. But then, I figured we were destined to end up this way. It would happen, and then I’d walk away. “Just once,” I finally replied. “That’s all we need.” It was the biggest lie I’d ever told because I knew to the marrow of my bones that once with Chase Hawthorne would never be enough for me.

“Yeah, okay. Just once. And then we’ll know, and the novelty will wear off. It’s not like either of us is looking for anything serious.”

He wasn’t wrong. I wasn’t looking for anything serious and never had been, but that didn’t stop him from being serious to me. Fucking Chase Hawthorne and the way my stupid heart bled for him. “We’ll get it out of our systems, and then I’ll go back to being Griff’s annoying but sexy little brother who you don’t want to fuck.”

He smiled, but it looked a little broken, like there was pain behind it. “I, um…I’ll go first. You hang out in the bar another ten minutes or so, and then come around the back. I have my truck there. You can come home with me. Will Griff wonder where you are?”

“I’m twenty-eight, Chase. Jesus, I don’t have to ask my brother’s permission to stay out all night. I don’t come home plenty.” I really needed to get my own place, but for now, staying in our childhood home worked. We both loved it there, and it wasn’t as if I was raking in the big bucks teaching pottery and art to kids.

“Okay, let’s do this.” He nodded, didn’t look at me, and walked out.

I waited a couple of minutes and then went back into the bar, but made myself not look over at Chase.

“You have whisker burn on your neck,” Natalie said.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Holy shit, Kell. What happened in there?” she asked, but I shook my head, and she hugged me.

“I’m going to leave in about ten minutes.”

“I’ll go too,” Nat replied, and I kissed the top of her head in a quiet thanks. That would help. If it seemed like I was leaving with Nat, it would appear more natural. It was shitty that I had to hide this, that I had to sneak around to fuck someone I wanted. Usually, it was something I refused to hide, but this was Chase, and he loved my brother more than anything in the world. I would never forgive myself if I came between them.
