I thrusted into her one more time, spilling inside of her with a faint grunt through gritted teeth. My hands caressed her back as I held her against my chest, which rose and fell along with hers to catch our breaths.

“That was… woah,” Delilah breathed out as her fingers stroked through my hair.

I could only nod and hold her, closing my eyes as I rested my head against hers. What did I do? What did this mean? She was just supposed to be a work partner, but it was obvious there was something more. At least on my side.

As much as I wanted to overthink my current situation, exhaustion weighed down on me, and all I could do was lay us both down on our sides before sleep overtook us.

Chapter 10

Delilah

Noise filled the studio, but I didn’t participate as much as I should’ve in the symphony of musical sounds and voices.

I sank deep into my own mind, battling with my conflicting thoughts. Sleeping with Jesse only complicated things even more for me. Not only was I wrestling with my feelings for Ryder, but now I was faced with an uncontrollable desire for Jesse.

But it wasn’t just sexual desire. It was emotional. I wanted to feel his arms around me, to hear his deep voice and rumbling laugh. Just the thought of that made my skin tingle and my heart thump heavily. It was hard enough juggling affection for one guy, but it didn’t just stop at Jesse.

The more time I spent with the band, the more I realized how much I was intrigued by all of the members.

“I know we’re not singing today, but I still like drinking warm tea with honey to help my throat,” Amos told me as he handed me a steaming mug of black tea.

I gave him a grateful look as I took the mug, our fingers brushing. A warm tingle shuddered through my body.

“Good idea,” I said before gently blowing away the steam. “Thank you.”

“My pleasure,” Amos replied, shooting me a wink before walking over to Ryder.

I smiled to myself as I watched him, and Ryder linger near the door of the recording booth. Ryder’s brow was slightly furrowed as he crossed his arms, thinking deeply as Amos spoke to him. Ryder could hyper focus like no one else when it came to music, but he was a natural.

Talented. Driven. Charismatic.

He was a grand formula when it came to a music artist and getting to watch him work on music again made me feel more motivated in the studio than ever before. It wasn’t a chase for money. A dash for fame. It was just a collaborative process between six passionate people.

“No, no. The timing is off. Play it like this.” Jesse’s voice drew my eyes to the other side of the studio where Carson and Jesse held their instruments and practiced the parts that they had come up with.

Carson handed his guitar over to Jesse, watching him strum and noting the pacing.

“Okay, I think I get it now,” he said.

I tilted my head slightly as I watched them, the corner of my mouth curling up as I watched Jesse help Carson. I loved seeing the guys get along and work together, even if that was a natural occurrence for them.

Carson played his part with ease, his fingers gracefully moving along the strings. A triumphant grin crossed his face as he nodded.

“Hell yeah. That sounds awesome,” he chuckled. “I’ll be able to play this in my sleep.”

How did I end up working with so many intriguing men? And why couldn’t I maintain platonic feelings for them? It would be so much easier if I could work with them without noting how handsome they looked, how alluring it was to watch their fingers move, or how any touch of theirs made my skin tingle.

“Delilah, want to listen to this drum part I came up with?” Wyatt’s voice coaxed me out of my head.

I looked up from the couch and nodded, nearly jumping to my feet. My body moved too fast for my mind, and I ended up tripping on the rug. A gasp broke from me as I stumbled forward, only to be caught by strong hands.

“I’ve got you,” Wyatt said as he straightened me out, letting me hold his biceps to steady myself. His eyes swept over me. “You okay?”

I let out a relieved breath and smiled as I nodded.

“Yes, thanks to you,” I replied with a light laugh, soon realizing that I was holding onto his muscles for dear life, even if I was no longer in danger. His white t-shirt didn’t help hide the broad chest and shoulders that drummers typically had, sending my mind in a heated frenzy.

Wyatt’s serious expression softened a bit as the corner of his mouth turned up.

“Always happy to help,” he told me before releasing my waist. His eyes lingered on mine for a second before he led me over to the computer.
