We collapsed in each other’s arms, grinning at each other like fools.
“Now that was a fun work break,” I breathed, throwing my arm across his chest. “What brought that on?”
He smirked wolfishly. “Can’t a man have screaming hot sex with his wife in the middle of the afternoon just for the hell of it?”
“He most certainly can.” I smooched him. “But I get the sense you’re in a particularly good mood today. Did something happen? Are you planning a surprise for me?”
Alex froze. “Well, see, that’s not fair,” he cried. “Because now I’m a bad husband if I say I’m not planning a surprise for you. What kind of jerk am I for not planning a surprise for the fine-ass wife who gives me screaming hot sex in the middle of the day?”
I poked his side, giggling. “You better say you are, then.”
“I am,” Alex stressed. “Definitely. But that’s not the only reason I’m in a good mood.”
“What is it, then?”
Alexander smiled at me. “It’s this,” he whispered. “It’s you. It’s our three perfect, amazing kids. It’s getting to live and co-parent with my two closest friends in the world. It’s chasing my dream for the first time in my life. It’s being surrounded by the people I love most in this world.
“For a long time, I had three-fifths of a family,” he whispered. “Now I have the whole thing... and it’s because of you.”
Tears flooded my lids, spilling down as his sweet, whispered words washed over me.
“How could I not be happy, baby?” Gentle fingers brushed away my tears. “Five years ago we died, and this is heaven.”
“No.” Lacing our fingers together, our wedding rings glittered and shone side by side. “This is better.”
