“Tonight,” he says as he looks down at me with those smoldering blue eyes.

“What’s tonight?” I ask in a trembling voice.

“You want the manager position?” he says, looking like he’s trying to hold himself back from pouncing on me. “You’re interviewing for it tonight. In my office.”

He gently touches my chin, gazes at my lips, and then walks away, leaving me standing here stunned with my mouth hanging open.

I’m going to be alone with Mr. Wallis? Tonight?

Gulp.

Chapter Five

Owen

I charge right up to the door of the Aspen Suite and slam my knuckles onto it hard.

“I’m working!” Mikey Reynolds yells through the door in an annoyed tone.

“Open. The. Door.”

I step back with my hands squeezed into fists when I hear frustrated footsteps approaching. He yanks the door open, about to lace into the person knocking, but then all of the rage deflates out of him when he sees me standing there ready to break his face.

“Who are you?”

“The owner,” I hiss through my clenched jaw.

“Oh. What is the meaning of this?”

I step into the suite even though he’s in my way. He quickly backs up and then flattens himself against the wall as I grab the door and close it.

“What is happening here?” There’s a trace of fear in his voice.

“Give me your phone.”

“What?”

I spot it on the desk and charge over with him barking on my heels like an annoying little dog. “You can’t be in here. This is my room.”

“Is this the phone you took the video of my girl with? The one where she’s trying to put out the fire?”

I hold the iPhone to his face and the screen unlocks.

“What are you doing? You’re looking for a video?”

I thumb to the videos and find it. I smile when I see Lauren’s face, but then my heart goes out to her when she starts to panic and run around while the flames spread.

“Maybe next time you should help a lady in trouble instead of just filming it with your phone like a useless piece of shit.”

I delete it and then toss it onto the desk. It lands with a clunk.

“Unlock your laptop,” I say as I glare at him.

“No! That’s my property.”

I grab his shoulder and squeeze it so tight he winces.

“Sit,” I warn as I pull him to the chair. He sinks into it as I reach over and open his laptop. “Delete it from the cloud.”

He hesitates for a second, so I squeeze his shoulder harder.

“Ow! Okay!”

He quickly deletes the video and then looks up at me. “Can you let go of me now?”

“Is that video anywhere else? Did you send it to anyone? Post it anywhere?”

He shakes his head. “No.”

I squeeze him so hard he lets out a squeak. “Are you sure?”

“Yes! Fuck! I’m sure!”

“Good,” I say as I release him. “Because if you had, or if this video pops up anywhere, I’ll be so mad I don’t know what I’ll be capable of.”

He gulps as he looks up at me with wide eyes.

“Now that that’s out of the way,” I say as I force out a smile. “Enjoy the rest of your stay. I hope everything is to your satisfaction.”

He sits there, staring at me in shock as I walk to the door and leave.

I take a deep breath in the hallway.

That’s not going to end well for the hotel. I’ll probably get a scathing review and a one-star rating from the world’s top travel magazine.

But I don’t care about that right now. Lauren is my number one priority and I don’t want anything released online that will embarrass her.

She’s all that matters to me now.

Chapter Six

Lauren

“Mr. Wallis?” I say as I knock on the doorframe of his office and peek in. “Are you ready to start the interview?”

He’s sitting behind his huge oak desk with a stunning view of the mountains behind him visible through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows. The sun is setting between two snow-capped peaks and it’s casting out a brilliant orange hue across the sky.

Those sharp vivid blue eyes land on me and my whole body shivers with the intensity of his gaze.

I kissed that man.

It feels surreal. It feels like it was in a dream.

But it wasn’t a dream. It was real. It was so very real.

I can still feel the way my body hummed when his big strong arms were around me. I can still feel the pounding of my heart as he told me he wanted me. I can still feel the erotic sting on my ass from his firm punishing hand.

Just seeing him now—sitting there in his collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up his tattooed arms, long thick beard, shining blue eyes—my body starts to crave him. My head goes all light and I get a bit breathless.

Stop, I warn myself. This is business. You have to keep it professional.
