He was very helpful.

And as I played with my animals and my duckies and my boats, Daddy sat down on the floor beside me. “Should we play in your room after your bath and read books or should we watch cartoons and color again?”

Oh, that was hard.

“Ice cream first, Daddy, don’t forget.” As my duckie bounced up from the bottom of the tub, I think think thinked like Pooh.

Pooh thinking said I didn’t know yet, so that was what I told him. “If you stay a long time, then cartoons and then a book ’cause they make me sleepy. Books do that, you know. If you stay not a long time, then toys and a cartoon.”

I was so good I gave Daddy options.

That was important to make them feel important. Daddies liked making decisions. It made them nod and look very serious. Daddy even sat up straighter. “That’s a very good point, cutie.”

Yep.

I was smart.

Daddy reached in and started zooming a boat around making the sounds and everything as the bubbles looked like big waves. “Should we have a shorter night or a long night where I stay?”

Hmm.

I peeked at him and he didn’t even see. I was sneaky. But he wasn’t frowning or smiling or anything. “I don’t know what to pick, Daddy.”

Now he was smiling.

He liked helping so much that he liked it when I needed him to pick.

I had the best Daddy ever. He even leaned over and kissed my head. “Then how about I stay and we do your wonderful cartoons and books to get sleepy plan? You’re very smart.”

“I know.” I made Daddy laugh again. “You have to snuggle me. That’s important for Daddies to do. They snuggle and they make sure their littles have their stuffed animals and their one last drink of waters and their binkies and everything they need.”

Daddy nodded and looked like he was remembering everything. “You’re going to have to show me how to do it. Can you do that? It’s a big job.”

“Yes, I can be a good helper, Daddy.” Especially if I got lots of sprinkles. “I’m gonna help you remember my ice cream too. Don’t worry, Daddy.”

He was so silly, he snorted.

But he didn’t try to forget our ice cream. He even remembered it after we’d played and washed my hair and let the bubbles escape.

“You have to show me where the sprinkles are.” He wrapped me up in a big towel as he made me hungry. “Can you do that?”

Nodding, I didn’t even wiggle as he dried me off so we could go faster and faster. “Yes, I’ll be a good helper. I won’t even make you eat the brown ones.”

I was so good to Daddy.

“They look like poop.” He needed to know that, but he giggled. “I don’t want to surprise you.”

He wrapped the towel tight around me and kissed my head. “Thank you for protecting me from the poop.”

“Daddy…” Giggling, I wiggled closer. “You’re so silly.”

“I’m silly, but I’m the one who’s going to get you ice cream and sprinkles, so let’s go.” He kept me huggably close as he picked up my jammies and led us to the bedroom. “Up on the bed, sprinkle boy.”

He was so funny he made me forget about the diaper problem…situation…drama…hmm, I needed the bestest word…yep, it was a situation.

It was definitely a situation because I’d forgotten to tell him what they were. But before I could do it, he helped me up on the bed and pushed me back, so I plopped. “We’re going to hurry so we have time for ice cream and cartoons and books and all the fun. Let’s get you unwrapped, little mummy.”

I was stuck like a funny taco, so Daddy had to open me up and then…and then he pushed my undies to the side and picked up the diaper.

Did Daddy know?

He opened it up and gave me a pat. “Tushy up.”

He knew.

Well, he was Daddy and he’d picked out my jammies ’cause that was what Daddies did.

So my tushy went up.

He knew how it worked.

He was so smart.

When I was wrapped up good and I was a cute teddy bear, Daddy pulled me up and gave me a hug. “You’re so special and such a good boy I will eat sprinkles that look like poop if you want me to.”

Aww.

Giving him the biggest hug, I shook my head. “You don’t have to eat poop for me, Daddy.”

I had the best Daddy ever.

Chapter Eleven

Gray

Littles were fascinating…Camden included.

“No, Benny doesn’t need a snack.” Because he’d already had ice cream that I was pretty sure a stuffed bunny didn’t need to eat and he’d asked for a drink of water for Camden.

He was a pushy little bunny.

Now he’d decided that a snack before bed was in order, and there was no way in hell Camden was actually hungry. He was barely keeping his eyes open as it was and we hadn’t even snuggled up to read a story yet.
