Chapter Five

TATIANA

Hands.

Hands that I dream about touch my body and move me, so I am lying on my back as he hovers over me. His hands skim and caress my stomach before his lips touch me there. I’ve had sex before John, but nothing compares to him and who he is. John is everything to me, just as my sisters are. I’m not sure how it happened, but it did, and I don’t regret it.

He makes every inch of me come alive. As if he was born to make me feel this way only for him.

He tells me he was.

That it’s his job to be that for me, that he was made to love me.

I admit I fought it at first—it was not the time to fall in love. It was anything but. But he just kept showing up, and soon that led to a kiss, followed by his hands, followed by…

Well, he sure knows how to please me, that’s for sure.

And now I’m having a baby with him. I have no doubt he will be the best father imaginable, but it scares me to think of bringing life into this world when it’s so broken.

But that’s selfish, right? I’m not really sure.

His soft kisses linger until he grips the waistband of my pants, and I lift my hips for him to slide them off. He does so effortlessly, as he does everything when it involves me.

He knows how to calm me when needed.

How to reassure me when I’m worried.

I never thought in this life I would be in love with someone, not in this world, at least. It’s all so dark and depressing.

I was raised to look after my sisters, and now I don’t do that any longer. Instead, I help John with the wolves. Some of them still don’t like me, but that’s okay. I don’t need their approval.

“Fuck, I love you!” he growls out the words as his mouth descends between my legs. I open them wider as his tongue slides in. He licks and tastes me like I am his favorite meal. I believe I am because he tells me so. When my hands are gripping my breasts, and I come, he slides his finger out of me and crawls back up my body. John leans down and kisses my mouth with a passion I feel all the way to my toes. I taste myself, but most of all, I taste him.

“We’re having a baby,” he says as he slides into me. My back arches as he does, and he kisses me again. “You are going to be the best mother.” I want to tell him that I’m not sure how to be, but I keep my lips sealed as I feel him thrusting inside me.

Sex wasn’t that enjoyable before, but now…

Holy shit on a brick.

I could open my legs and let him between them each and every day.

Starting with his mouth.

Followed by his cock.

Then back that up with his tongue circling my nipple.

The most attractive part about John is that he never, not ever, looks at anyone the way he looks at me.

I hope my sisters can have the same thing one day, but I’m concerned about Talia. Her love for Death will go nowhere good.

It can’t.

It’s impossible.

He is death, after all.

My hands lift and scrape down his back as I take him in deeper. I feel the build-up again, and a scream rips through my throat as John moves his hips faster and faster.

“That’s my good girl,” he says when I come. He kisses my forehead and then proceeds to kiss each breast as he releases inside of me.

“I love you,” I whisper.

“I know,” is all he says back.

Believe it or not, I say the words more than him, but he shows it ten times more than me. To him, love is not a word—it’s in your actions. And his actions speak louder than any words ever could.

As soon as he lies down beside me, his hand comes to rest on my stomach, where he draws lazy circles.

“Witch or wolf?” I ask him.

“Both,” he answers.

“She could be one and not the other.”

“She?” he questions.

“Yes, she.” I smile. “We Halaba girls seem to produce girls if you haven’t noticed.”

“Maybe that cycle will be broken.”

“Maybe,” I reply, not believing it.

A knock sounds at the door. I stand and reach for John’s shirt before heading to answer. Bronik appears in the doorway as I pull it open, his face solemn, and his stance strong. But when I look behind him, I don’t see my sister.

“Where is she?” I ask, pushing past him.

He moves to let me through, and I scan the area for Talia.

“Viper sent her through a portal.”

I swing back around at his words. “What did you just say?” I scream at him. He goes to repeat himself, but I cut him off with my hand pressed to his mouth. “You told her to go to him. This was your plan,” I accuse. “It’s your fault!”
