Once I’m within striking distance, I whisper near her ear, “Exactly what are you trying to imply with your drawing?”

She yelps before swinging around to face me. When her chest bumps into mine, she attempts to retreat, putting more distance between us until her spine hits the drink station. Her fingers grip the hard surface as she flattens against it.

“What are you doing here?”

There’s a breathless quality filling her voice, and my cock twitches with a shocking amount of interest.

I hold up the piece of paper. “Any reason in particular you felt the need to draw this?”

Her gaze flickers to the check and her muscles loosen. Even though she attempts to hide the smile trembling around the corners of her lips, it’s not possible.

“Of course not.” Innocence fills her wide eyes. “Why would there be?”

Mine narrow in response. I’m more than aware I’m being fucked with. And not in a good way either. I probably should be happy that she chose to make a rude drawing instead of spitting in my food.

Well…let’s hope she didn’t spit in my food.

When I raise a brow and remain silent, she shrugs. “Customers usually enjoy my little sketches.”

I almost snort.

Yeah, right.

Unable to help myself, I step closer, swallowing up the distance she put between us until it becomes necessary for her to tip her chin to hold my gaze.

“Somehow, I don’t think that’s the reason.”

Ignoring the comment, her eyes dart to the girls seated at the table before she jerks her chin toward them. “Shouldn’t you get back to your friends before they wander off? I’m going to hazard a guess and assume they don’t have much of an attention span.”

I shake my head and make a tsking sound. “Wow. Shaming other females isn’t cool.”

A burst of color scalds her cheeks as her mouth falls open. My attention drops to the movement. It’s so damn tempting to yank her into my arms and crush my lips against hers. Except that would probably get me junk punched.

Her shoulders stiffen. “That’s not what I was doing.”

My gaze resettles on hers. Have I ever peered into eyes so dark?

They’re almost black in their intensity.

It takes effort to focus on the conversation instead of the steady rise and fall of her chest through the colorful Taco Loco T-shirt she’s wearing. “You sure about that?”

Her lips smash together until they’re a thin, bloodless line. Any humor dancing in her eyes has long since disappeared. In its place is anger.

Bright and shimmery.

Sharp enough to cut glass.

“Yes.” She grounds out the word between clenched teeth.

I cock my head, continuing to study her as her nostrils flare. If I had any brains whatsoever, I’d cut my losses and carefully back away from this confrontation. And I’d be sure to give her a wide berth in the future. She’s been nothing but prickly toward me. There are plenty of girls who clamor for my attention, but this isn’t one of them. For some strange reason I don’t understand, I can’t bring myself to do that.

A light floral scent catches my attention, cutting through the spicy aromas that hang heavily in the air. I lean forward and inhale, trying to figure out if it’s originating from her.

Her body stiffens and there’s a moment of silence before she whispers, “What are you doing?”

“Nothing.” I take another deep breath.

“Are you…sniffing me?” Her voice comes out sounding as if she’s being choked.

“Of course not.”

That’s exactly what I’m doing.

Losing the internal battle being waged, I swallow up the remaining inch or two of space that separates us until the stiff little points of her breasts are pressed firmly against the steely strength of my chest. Not only am I aware that the perfumed scent has grown in intensity, but I’m also cognizant of the place we’re now intimately connected.

It takes effort to pick up the threads of our previous conversation. “What offends you so much about my friends?” My voice dips until it sounds like crushed gravel. “Is it that they’re free with their affection? Clearly, a little PDA doesn’t bother them. Did you ever consider that people like to watch two beautiful girls who aren’t afraid to express their sexuality? Here’s a thought—maybe you should try not to be such a judgmental prude in the future and adopt more of a live and let live kind of mentality. It might serve you well in life. Certainly better than the stick-up-your-ass attitude you have going on.”

I didn’t think it was possible for her eyes to widen any more than they already had. But I was wrong. They’re now on the verge of popping out of her head and rolling around on the ceramic tile floor at her feet.

She sucks in a sharp breath and jerks upright. “Excuse me? Did you really just call me judgmental?” She drills a hard finger into my chest. “How dare you say that when you don’t know anything about me.”
