“Just because it’s not on paper doesn’t mean you’re not certifiable.” He just shrugs. “I don’t get it. How are you claiming we’re married?”

“You signed our wedding license when you arrived in Mexico. Those documents at the hotel front desk…”

“Are you serious?” I’d been so frazzled and out of my mind about the article and then having seen him at the airport, that I couldn’t think straight. He’s the only man I’ve ever wanted, and just being around him makes me irrationally excited.

He grabs my cheeks with his large hands, directing me to look into his eyes that make my heart melt. “Yes. I’m dead serious. You’re mine, Elena, and now in every single way. Pretty soon, we’ll have our first babies.”

I’m confused, scared, nervous and too damn hopeful to believe this. Nudging off his lap, I stand up and look at him and shake my head. “This is crazy. You haven’t given me the time of day for the past four years, and now you want to marry me? Why?”

He reaches out, snatching my wrist and pulling me stand between his legs. “That’s not true, and you know it. We’ve spent a lot of time together, and I’ve done everything I could to show you some affection.”

“As a sister.”

“Not one time did I ever think of you as a sister.”

“No?” I try to think about our last few encounters and if there was something I misinterpreted.

“No. You have no idea how much effort it took not to slide into bed with you that night and give you what you asked for.”

I press my hand to my face. I remember exactly. I’d been so damn drunk and insanely horny for him. My classmate had been leading me out of the bar and I could barely stand up. He was almost carrying me, and then Granger was there with Cameron, who scooped me up in his arms and they drove me back to his house.

It took me a day to remember exactly what happened, but that night I asked him to kiss me, to fuck me, or to at least teach me how to suck his cock and I told him how I’d saved my virginity for him. God. I didn’t remember at first, and he hadn’t rubbed it in. In fact, he only told me that I was never to go out drinking without security again, and then he told my brother. “You weren’t even remotely in your right mind that night.”

“That was four months ago.” He could have had me after that, knowing that I wanted him too if that’s what he was waiting for.

“I had to remain under control until I turned twenty-seven, when I finally gained legal rights to my father’s company under his clause, which was bullshit but worth it in the end.”

“What clause?”

“I had to remain unmarried and childless until I reached the age of twenty-seven, so that I could prove I was responsible and dedicated. The company became mine two months ago, but with everything going on, I had so much to handle and had to find a way to get you alone. When your brother told me you were going to Cabo, I nearly lost it.” His hold on me tightens as does his jaw muscles.

“My brother,” I gasp. He’s going to freak.

“Yeah. Another problem. I don’t want to lose him as my best friend, but I’ve long considered you my sole priority and source of happiness, and there’s no way I’ll let anyone get in the way of us.”

“Not even me?” Twice now he’s rescued me from my foolishness. Being alone with people I couldn’t trust wasn’t the smartest thing to do.

He runs his hand down my cheek, cradling my face. “You didn’t get in the way. You fell into my arms.”

“Where do we go from here?”

“To the shower, where I plan to wash and defile you again, repeatedly. Maybe we can visit the beach.” He rolls his eyes at that last part as if he has no intention of wanting to leave this beautiful villa. Still, we’re in a gorgeous getaway and we should enjoy it together.

“I need to get my clothes from my suite,” I say, looking toward the sliding doors that lead back to the beach.

“No. That’s been taken care of. Your suitcase and bags are in the front hall, and your room has been canceled.”

I whip my head back at him so fast I could have whiplash. “What?”

He just shrugs like it’s no big deal, and when I close my eyes and think about it, it’s really not a big deal. I’m in love with this man. I have been for the past four years, and he’s been telling me he feels the same way, so I’m glad we’ve moved past the hard part.

Smiling, I slide my hands up his chest. “You are something else, Cameron.”
